I had a 10 am appointment for a cleaning on a Monday. When I arrived there was plenty of close parking. I was checked in right away by the friendly office staff, they took me to a room for my cleaning . The Dental hygienist communicated well with me on how the cleaning was going during the session . She was gentle on my veneers and I very much appreciate this . I was done within 40 minutes which was great . After the cleaning treatment, I had a filling replaced . No pain , I was not numb afterwards either which is amazing!! I was so relaxed during the procedure I almost fell asleep After that , I was able to make a follow up appointment for some possible replacement fillings in April with Dr Caruso . Going to her office is always a very positive experience and I wouldn't go to any other dentist ! . She is by far the best dentist I have ever had!! Thanks for everything!! read more

On my first visit, the staff was professional and friendly. Dr.Mclellan was very friendly and has a great sense of humor, which helped me to relax. His exam was thorough and he explained my X-rays and issues. I haven't met Dr Caruso, but the other dentist in the office "Dr. Lee" has been doing a great job for me. I have somewhat neglected my teeth during many years of not having insurance, and Dr. Lee has really educated me about the importance of flossing all the time to take care of my gums. At first some of her explanations were a little bit over my head, but she was able to get the point across. She replaced a crown that I had done in Mexico and I could tell she is a bit of a perfectionist, and seems passionate about her work. Plus she is well mannered and has tiny hands which is custom tailored for working in tight spaces. She even showed me how to floss properly, which sounds really basic but there is a proper technique and it's not just pushing the string through your teeth. If you want to know more about this, ask me in a P.M. lol Of course going to the dentist isn't fun by any means. Yes you get stuck with a needle, have to sit still for a long time, it costs money, you have to here about how you need to do better oral maintenance, but you need to go and this is a good place, conveniently located in Mira Mesa. Nice CLEAN office with is a MUST with dental work for me. In my experience the rest of the staff is also very pleasant and seem to care. read more

This dental office is great! They are kind and accommodating to make sure you have positive experience. I just started as a new patient with this office, I felt very comfortable. My dentist was patient, clear in explaining what he saw, and helped me understand his concerns. While I'm not a fan at all of dental visits, this was much better than expected. I am a big wimp when it comes to dental hygiene. I am sooo glad I took a chance going to Dr. Caruso's office. I think her name is Karen, hygienist, who was super thorough while being careful not to hurt me during a cleaning. They work as quickly as they can while still getting the job done. I've had a cavity done here. The shot to numb was done appropriately. Very friendly place. My only suggestion is louder music to drown out other conversations and dental tool noises. Finally am writing a review months after my visit. I found this dentist through Yelp and was excited to possibly have found a new dentist that I could vibe with! But wow, I can honestly say my initial visit did not warrant another, and I had to re-route the family to another dentist after my experience with this one. I think I had to deal with about 4 different people when I was there and totally felt like I was passed around. The first x-ray tech who took my x-rays was really talkative which was a little awkward considering her questions were response-driven - a little difficult when one has those x-ray plastic strips in one's mouth. Then came a male dentist who proceeded to tell me that I had a bunch of cavities, a chipped tooth, etc. Wow!! I suddenly felt like a pirate ridden with scurvy after he was done giving me my prognosis. Then I was passed to another chair where another female dentist cleaned my teeth. She was nice but clearly tried to upsell me at the end with this $50 "enamel-strengthening" rinse which "may or may not be covered by my insurance". I decided to go for it. Looking back, it wasn't the wisest decision I've ever made. Fifty bucks for a 30 second mouth rinse. Consider me hustled. So...I left there totally feeling upsold. It all happened so fast while I was there, I didn't even notice until when I had moment to think about it all. Before I came to this place, I was never told by my previous dentists about my so-called "many cavities and chipped tooth". I've gone to another dentist since, and they still did not mention any of that on my x-rays. Which leaves me to wonder: a) was he looking for reasons to sell me on more procedures, or b) was he looking at the wrong x-rays?? It makes no sense. read more

It may sound odd, but for various reasons, this is where I get my teeth scraped, poked, and polished every four months. Yet, I see another dentist for my dental work (see review), but certainly not because Dr. Caruso isn't excellent, as I have heard nothing but raves and have actually seen the results of her work on others. Dr. Caruso only recently purchased Dr. Cremer's practice and has given the place a face lift and, more importantly, upgraded the equipment and computer technology. Best and smartest move of all - keeping the friendly and experienced staff intact, many have worked there for 20+ years and know the patients and their histories (and their life stories). I hate having my mouth worked on, but I look forward to my visits and leave with a better smile than the one I wore when I walked in! What a smooth transition! Congrats! read more

I've gone to my last dentist for over 10 years, twice a year EVERY year. Countless cleanings and I've never had any cavities. First time here for teeth cleaning and suddenly I have 3-5 cavities?! AND they want to fill them ASAP? Sketchy. Whether true or not, they pressured me into making an appointment ASAP. I felt like I was talking to used car salesmen. Dr. Caruso's whole staff are always so nice and sweet, they actually remember my name and recognize my face. I wasn't used to that the first few times I came in. I had a terrible dentist and it kinda scarred me from going back but I'm glad I found Dr. Caruso. I have been so happy with all of my visits here since becoming a patient about a year ago. I had a long backlog of things I needed to take care of and had been putting off (oops!) after changing jobs, insurance, etc. I'm so glad I found this charming office through my insurance provider! Everyone has been so kind and Beth and Estella make me feel welcome every single time I'm in. Dr. Wilson, Dr. Caruso, Paula, and all of the dental assistants have great synergy and have all gone above and beyond to be responsive to my needs. I can't say I enjoy going to the dentist, but this place is as good as it gets! The front staff ladies are both friendly and remember my name (which isn't easy when I just come in once every 6 months for a cleaning!). Paula is my one and only go to when it comes to teeth cleaning: super nice and entertaining! Dr. Caruso is just excellent at what she does. You can tell she is good at her job and really takes pride in her work. I recently had a crown done and I can just tell how meticulous she is with everything to ensure that it's perfect. The service was phenomenal, upon being greeted in the office until leaving it was well above average. My only complaint is about the pricing of services offered. Many, many other offices were/are 1/4th of the price for the same services rendered. Definitely check around before agreeing with this price as the work I was offered would have cost upwards of $2000 when I could get it done at other dental offices for $600-$700. read more

I have been coming to this office since I was 5 years old. Dr. Cremer took care of my family and I prior to Dr. Caruso taking over. The staff has been consistently warm, friendly, caring, and extremely helpful. They were even nice to me when I was no longer eligible for the "no cavity" club. :) I have been having regular work done with Dr. Caruso for my ClearCorrect braces. Dr. Caruso and her entire team provide excellent work and service. As long as I live in San Diego I will continue coming to this office. The dental services of Jennifer Caruso are the BEST! The office is small and personal and the staff is always kind and caring, texting reminders, and going over charges in detail. Dr. Caruso and her partner are very knowledgeable and skilled dentists and take the time to thoroughly explain your x-rays and what they recommend for your teeth and gums, and make sure the work is perfect before you leave. The hygienists are careful and always check in as they progress to see if you are comfortable, would like to rest your jaw, would like a drink, music or whatever makes you feel comfortable. Loved my first visit to Dr. Caruso. The staff were very friendly and helpful and talked me through the entire process.

I usually don't make reviews or comments for places but I was happy the staff was able to see me on such a short notice, I was having a lot of pain dur to a bad tooth and they were able to see me quickly and man how friendly and attentive the staff was to me. Never had that experience like that at other dental offices. I even told them how I wasn't the best at going to the dentist and need additional work. The staff and doc were great and did not make me feel guilty about me not having monthly visits for cleanings or check ups...was extremely impressed there and will be going back. I would not go back there. Admin staff and Tecnical assistant to dentist do there own thing. Hygienist did procedures the dentist did not talk to me about. They referred me to another dentist for something but I canceled the appointment after I left. Not sure why I need to see a prosthodontist. The technician upscaled my treatments so I paid more out of pocket and the insurance paid less. A common theme on Dental offices now to generate more cash. The admin staff and technicians like to babble on. I paid my bill of $180 and the front staff said that was nothing. Gee, $180 is nothing now a days. Their insurance billing is out of control. I gasped when I started seeing the billing. Odd part, 6 months later they are still doing amended billing. BEWARE!!! read more

Friendly, but most importantly attentive, gentle and effective hygienist and support staff.
