You'll also find seasonal items that are reflective of the berries, apples, and fruits harvested in Western North Carolina throughout the year. They have an small staff that is usually very friendly and attentive. Whether you're in town for a weekend getaway or an extended period of time you'll feel like a local when you walk in. We were walking around downtown Brevard and stopped by this small town bakery. We got a peach danish, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, and treats for our pup. We enjoyed the peach danish, but the cookie left for more to be desired, just not something I would get again. Our dog loved his treats - but know they are definitely on the very hard and crunchy side if your dog is particular about their treats. Now this bakery knows how to make croissants! I'm just sorry I went so late in the day, and I missed out on many of their popular choices. I still got one of my favorite things... almond croissant. I bought my sister a cinnamon streusel filled one. They were very good. Not crispy on the outside, but layered nicely on the inside. The workers are friendly and told my now local sister that selections sell out even sooner in tourist season. Good gracious. This place knows what they are doing! My friend took me to this adorable town while I was visiting her in Greer, SC. She said the croissants were worth the drive and she was right!! We ordered the walnut and cinnamon filled croissants they were glorious. She called ahead that morning and preordered 6 of them (two for each of the three of us), which was good because they were sold out when we got there! The croissants were fantastic, and I also tried the brownie, vanilla chocolate chip brioche, and cheddar jalapeño scone. All fantastic, great flavor and texture. The iced coffee was good too! I will definitely return for those melty, gooey, life altering walnut cinnamon croissants one day!! She also got a loaf of the SUNFLOWER OAT BREAD and let me tell you, I think that was the best slice of toast the next day that I've ever had in my life. Every single thing was amazing. read more

Yum! This place serves delicious baked goods and coffee drinks. Located in downtown Brevard NC, this quaint bakery wafts incredible smelling coffee into the streets. They have home baked breads increasing dessert breads such as cinnamon rolls and scones. There is a small seating area just along the wall on the right side and the baked goods are located to the left of the entrance most of the distance of the store. Everything we had was very moist and tasted like it was recently made. The cheesecake brownie was particularly good. It wasn't overly sweet but still had a chocolate drizzle on top. read more

This place definitely gets 5 stars just for it's amazing costumer service! The gentlemen working last Saturday was super, duper friendly and welcoming. He was talkative and answered all of my questions with a smile on his face. If I lived in Brevard, I'd go back often just for the great service, seriously! As for the coffee, it was pretty tasty and the gentlemen mentioned above said that it came from a local roaster down the street. I was a fan as it was a dark roast with a great flavor. The pastry though, honestly, was very disappointing. I ordered the mocha cinnamon roll (can't remember exactly what it was called) and it just tasted like stale bread with some mocha icing on top. It's OK though, truth be told, I went for the caffeine. This is a super cute little coffee shop and I love how it is decorated! The walls are completely covered with cute/punny/funny/ridiculous artwork hanging in frames. It is so much fun! I just wanted to stare at the walls all day. What a bakery! We're here from out of town for a few days, and just stopped in just before closing yesterday, wiping them out of their blackberry scones and almond croissants. The scones were the best scones we've had in a long time. They were tender and not too dry, with plenty of the blackberries. Delicious! So we thought we'd go back there again today. We got there earlier so we could see a better selection of baked goods. We got some raspberry cheese danishes along with the blackberry scones. The raspberry cheese danishes were the best I've ever had, which is why I'm writing this review. The bready part of the danish was flaky and tasty. If this danish had no filling, the would've been happy just eating that! But oh, the raspberry filling! It tasted like fresh raspberries! We had Almond croissant - amazing, sweet, buttery and flaky with almonds inside Apple streusel Danish - also excellent with actual pieces of apples not just a jam or butter Spinach & provolone scone - omg so delicious with the savory taste to it Blueberry scone - meh too big of blueberries didn't even finish it. What a great little bakery! We had some really good coffee and some amazing pastries in this shop. Staff was friendly and they were helpful in recommending what to try. We got there right before they closed and never felt like they were trying to rush us to place an order and get us out the door. They even offered up a discount on the pastries since it was the end of the business day. 10/10 would recommend. I literally can't think of any constructive criticism. The food is amazing, is baked fresh every morning, and is made using all organic flour. The staff is always friendly and remembers all the locals' names and orders. The coffee is the best in town which I didn't expect, but I am thankful for it. Other than that once I got home the strawberry danish was tasty. The coconut key lime danish is my favorite! Their cinnamon raisin bread is also an all star! The Good: Fantastic bread and other baked goods from this little (and I do mean little) bakery in the heart of downtown Brevard. Coffee is pretty good, though I was not able to find out where they get the beans from. The Bad: It's a very small space in the heart of Brevard so it tends to get very busy. I visited twice and each time there were 10-15 people waiting in line and no available seating. Bottom Line: This is the place to come for a coffee to go. I don't live in Brevard anymore and Bracken is one of the main things I miss. It's possibly my all time favorite afternoon coffee spot. Super charming, centrally located, good for people watching and meeting friends, plus everything they bake is excellent. I'll order an iced coffee and ginger molasses cookie and eat it at the table outside. Iced coffee is my drink, I drink a ton of it, and Brackens is my favorite anywhere. It's pretty strong and dark, but smooth and perfect for adding cream to. The cookies are awesome too. Last time I had a cookie that good it was just out of the oven at my grandma's house. Bracken coffee + cookie = perfect snack combo happiness. The Bracken brown bread is nice to take home, makes a good sandwich. Also the pesto Parmesan baguette is special.
