I texted Brad Deery Chevrolet, I was coming from out of town and wanted to schedule an appointment with a person for a specific vehicle. They said ok and sent a text confirming appointment. I got ten minutes out just to be texted again, someone had just arrived to look at the vehicle I was driving to look at....CASH IN HAND!! They let the other people take it out for a drive and sold it. Bad business to schedule an appointment and then sell it out from under a cash paying customer. Today I had the fortune of discussing a lease for 36 month and 12 miles. I applied on "personalize my payment" and it came back with 280 per month lease. When I spoke with Tyler the General Manager, he told me it was going to cost 680 a month lease. The General Manger would not honor their payment price and said it was my fault that their computer system had a "mistake". How can you have a 300% mistake --- this dealership is a bait and switch. They used to be good (as I have purchased from them before). However, in the last ten years they claim they are transparent, but they are not. Take your business elsewhere. Imagine that you and/or your family need to upgrade to a car in better condition than what you currently drive, because your current vehicle seemingly is going in for repairs every month. That becomes very costly! So, you do your research online, you see the pictures of a car that fits you perfectly. Now the next step is to go see it in person, because you are 99% sure this is the car for you. Feeling confident, you walk in to the dealership expecting to find everyone happy, cheerful, floating on clouds, and bending to your every whim and will as they agree to all your terms because you found the perfect vehicle. Not so. In fact, you have to make the conscious effort to wake up and realize that those that work at dealerships are human, just like you. They have flaws, just like you. What does this mean? It means that they deserve the same level of understanding and compassion and forgiveness just like you would if you missed, say, just one small inconsequential thing. This is where communication is paramount. And here is where I and my family enter the story. We bought a new (used) car, and we are incredibly happy with our purchase. The one we bought had only been in the dealership's possession for maybe a total of 6 days. As a business that deals with multiple levels of customer service and interaction, inventory management, etc., they have a lot going on at the same time. When we brought our car home, we took it into our local mechanic to find a few errors and some items that needed repairs. Guess what? After communicating with Brad Deery Motors, their words were exactly as follows, "We are going to take care of you as best as we can." And "I'm going to go to bat for you and do my best." To summarize, I am thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the level of professionalism that EVERY person at Brad Deery has. If you have read this far into my review, then I ask that if you go buy a car from these people, have some grace. They are human just like you. Put yourself in their shoes. Could you do their job? I was interested in purchasing a truck through Brad Deery, working in Social Media I know how important star rating is online and from the rave reviews and star ratings I was excited to work with them. Being out of state, I was negotiating price with Kenny H. in sales over the phone. I had called and left a few voicemails to see if he was able to finalize the best price they could offer. None of the voicemails were returned so I texted him, he had responded with the price they could offer at around 8pm, unfortunately, I was not able to respond to him right away. The next day he texted me to let know that the vehicle had sold and bragged stating, "I knew it would bring in all the money" since it had sold for full online asking price. That very same day (6-5-20) on Autotrader and their own website, the price of the vehicle was reduced to a lower amount than the final price he had told me was the best they could do. I found this odd since the truck had supposedly already sold. I decided to call the dealership back and spoke with Jeff R. Come to find out, the truck had not sold and the price was actually reduced. Jeff had a few days off and returned my call 3 days later, the truck again had supposedly sold on (6-7-20). A day later, after the truck had been reduced, Brad Deery changed the price AGAIN back up to the original listing price (after I had written my Google review and pointed out the drop in price). This was again strange, I called and spoke with Steve, who confirmed it was still available and on the lot. The business practices of this company are nothing short of unacceptable and appalling. I tried contacting the General Manager, Dan O'Mara, twice, both times leaving him voicemails without a call back. Aimee in their Marketing Department had reached out to me about a review I left on Google and DealerRater via email. She asked for screen captures of the text message thread I had with Kenny which I had provided. I still have not been in contact with anyone about this experience and will continue to rate this dealership so no one is cheated out on a sale. The great star rating and reviews on both Google and social media does not match their service or business practices, I find it very concerning that a anyone would be treated this way. I like my used truck I bought but getting there was not fun. My salesperson made some very weird comments during my purchase which really turned me off. The one that stuck out is that his sales manager could drive down the road and know exactly what is wrong with a car as it passed. They also knit picked my trade in and said they were going to spend over $3000 to fix it before they would put it on the lot to sell. This is total bs and was just trying to low ball my trade in value. The final straw which prompted me to write a poor review is they refused to top off the tank of fuel before I left. I topped it off and only spent $30. A small gesture like that goes a long way with a lot of people. One last thing I observed, was a manager coming down on an employee for not wearing appropriate footwear. I looked at this employees shoes and thought they looked appropriate for his position. 99.9999999% of customers don't care about our sales persons shoes, we just want a friendly and competent person to help us buy a vehicle. After speaking with them the night before they told me it was sitting on their showroom floor. I said I'd be heading down tomorrow to check it out as I was going to purchase this one or one at another dealer. I got there the car was no where to be found. so I asked where it was and was notified it was at a body shop getting a "small ding" repaired. yet after that far of a drive and a check it hand they refused to even let me see the car after asking if I could just look at it as I was not concerned about a small ding. Super Sketchy. Be careful, especially if you're looking at this car. They are obviously trying to hide something. we bought a 2020 Cadillac CT5 July 13th! it was the day of our 5 year wedding anniversary. After the test drive both my husband and I told salesman that the drivers seat would not recline. Salesman took it to service while we were at the dealership (before we made final decision) and told us that the service department was aware of the issue and the parts were ordered. it would be fixed asap. I expected a call on Monday ...... didn't happen! I called on Wednesday talked to sahe says , "nobody has gotten ahold of you yet?" by Thursday still nothing...husband called several times. Service department said the key fob was in. They knew nothing about the seat not operating. That was July 18th. Car got picked up on Friday July 19th. We left for vacation on July 20th and we were under the impression it would be fixed and delivered back to us within a week. during weeks vacation we heard nothing! Salesman lied to us to make a sale! Poor poor customer service and communication!! We also talked to the owner yesterday and he told us his computer showed the parts were in As of July 22nd. Now it is Tuesday July 30th ..today we got yet another update that the part is being overnighted. But that could mean another 2-3 days. I like my vehicle but the service from this dealership is worse than poor. There was a lot of back-and-forth regarding registration that wasn't taken care of by the dealership (though these services were paid for at the time of purchase). I came to a dealership for an easy transaction and to be taken care of. It turns out I had to take care of registration and licensing myself to get it done in a timely matter. The vehicle is still under the 3 month warrantee but the dealership is refusing to take care of a minor issue with the vehicle since I didn't mention it immediately (because we were exhaustingly going back-and-forth over paperwork that the dealership did not take care of). Overall --- I would not return here myself or recommend to anyone who wants service. read more

When I got my car shortly after I had to bring it back for a knocking noise and shaking while I drove it at high speeds. They replaced my rotors and said they fully inspected my vehicle. Shortly after that my vehicle started randomly shutting off when I was driving it which resulted in my engine being fully replaced. My car that was fully inspected needed a new engine and rotors within short time of buying it. All the while I am still complaining of this knocking noise. They said they would look over the car again... still said nothing is wrong. This noise has never stopped so I had it looked at again and again. Finally my brother drove it and found it in the minutes. I called to see what Deery could do to fix this as it is not under warranty now. While arguing the service manager said "you let this go for so long". I did not let this go I have had my car in their shop multiple times for this noise. The issue is a rear drive shaft. You can see with the naked eye is not in good form l... bottom line DONT BUY HERE! Their service department is either lazy or negligent! read more

The salesman was actually very knowledgeable and did a great job, however, when I brought it to their attention that the Pacifica they had listed at "Brad's price" was $4000 over book value they were unwilling to negotiate. I drove over an hour each way to make a deal and they wouldn't take the Kelly blue book price which was actually around $1500 more than the Nada price. They ripped off my 85 yr old parents selling them a Town And Country that the air conditioning didn't work. They new it at the time and put a charge in it and sent it out the door knowing it would just leak out. A couple things were not working in the van and the folks agreed to them but not the air, they said it was fine. Of course the next day the air didn't work and they refused to fix it saying it was fine when they left. They then offered to split the cost of repair for over $ 2,000 (which means it would cost them under $1,000). We drove 60 miles to look at a vehicles. Ended up test driving two, which we really like. Went in to talk price and get more details only to find out both vehicles had branded titles. This means they were le.ons so the owner sold them back to Cadillac, who made the repairs and then sold them to the dealer at a reduced rate. These vehicles were priced the same as any of the vehicles we've been loking at only the had the color I wanted. When we said we wouldn't pay that kind of money for a branded title the s alesman said, "why do you think it'spriced so cheap"? The thing is, it wasn't remotely cheap or even slightly discounted. Come to find out all three of the Cadillac Escalades we saw on their site had brnded titles. I wonder how many people understand this implication. Absolutely do NOT buy from Brad Deery. I have had nothing but issues since buying my 2016 Chevy Malibu. One week after buying it, the check engine light came on. Was told that I was going to have to pay for it.. then was told I didn't have to and it was just a sensor. Next day the check engine light was back on. Called them again. They said that they fired the guy who replaced my sensor because he didn't know what he was doing and to bring the car back in. So I bring my car back in, and they determine that the camshaft and head gasket need to be replaced. They took their sweet time doing this. They said it would take 3 days and took over two weeks. Every time. I called they said that I'm not their top priority and I need to wait. 2 weeks later I get my car back. I drove home and my car is CHUGGING in my driveway I called my service tech and he said "don't drive it, you might get stranded". Oil was leaking out my exhaust. I told them I don't feel comfortable driving it to Maquoketa and I will take it to my local repair shop. They insisted that they come tow the vehicle and did not want me to take it anywhere else. Red flag much? They fixed whatever the issue was. Fast forward a few months.. my car is shifting HARD. Everytime I would shift through a gear it would jerk me in my seat. Took it back to them. Denied that the car shifted hard and determined "nothing was wrong with it". Got it in writing that they determined that. And now.. After 8 months of having this vehicle, it is sitting in the shop once again. This time, I am out of warranty and it cost $2000 to fix. Moisture in the inter cooler, turbo, and throttle body. They are doing NOTHING to honor their mistakes and here I am with a shit car. this place likes to screw people over and take advantage of people too. The staff are RUDE. Zero stars. They ran my credit, got a bank to finance the truck I wanted, and made an agreement with me to buy a truck. I tried to wire the down payment to them and messaged them and called because the account number wasn't working. No one called me back. I figured it out finally. Then the next business day, I get a text that they received my down payment, but they sold the truck to someone else the night before. After they ran my credit, and we made an agreement on adding the extended warranty. So now my credit score dropped, I lost the extra fee to wire the down payment, and I have no truck. What kind of business makes an agreement with a customer and then sells behind their back to the next guy who walks in? I said I want the truck, I agreed to the terms and I was wiring money. I bought a 2012 Chevy Equinox from them just about 3 months ago with just under 78k mikes on it. After hearing how great the vehicle is and how great the gas mileage is and how many more miles it has in it I bought it for 12k. So just under 3 months later and 10k miles on it the engine is shot!!! When I spoke with the General Manager he told me they will not cover anything after 6k mikes are put on it. When I told him I thought it was ridiculous to spend 12k on a car and not even get 3 months out of it he told me cars are like people and some live to be 40 and others live to be 96. He then told me I should get a new engine put in it at a small town repair shop that charges $30 an hour and not at their dealership that charges $130 an hour. There was absolutely no effort made to help replace the engine or even recommendations on where to get it fixed. I am now paying for a vehicle that does not run. This place has no respect for the product they are putting out or their customers who get stuck in the end! What a horrible and life changing decision to buy from them! Never again. read more

Here is my sister-in-law's story from this place. You be the judge: We are car shopping...shoot me. Actually found what I want this morning. Called the dealership ahead of time to verify availability, tell them about the vehicle I wanted to trade in, and inquire about an overnight test drive. It was over an hour away, and I was tight on time, but the sales rep wanted to ride with me. Twenty minutes later, when I asked about taking it for an extended test drive, he said he'd check (even though I had called over an hour earlier to inquire about it), then told me there was already a credit app on it. I told them I was prepared to buy it today, but then they were reluctant to assess my trade in and made a point of telling me about how much interest they had had in it. After waiting another 30 minutes while he met with a couple of other sales guys he told me they couldn't give me enough for my trade in and that maybe I could sell it outright. When I asked what "enough" was he had nothing in writing and gave me a number 5k less than I told him it had been previously assessed at. Saw it relisted tonight for 3k more. My daughter in her infinite wisdom moved from Louisiana to Iowa. The car she had driven since high school finally went the destiny of all old cars and I needed to get her something quick that was reasonable and also fairly reliable. I saw the Brad Deery dealership on line and thought it looked big enough to not disappear overnight. Unlike several people who typed reviews I only have 2 complaints. First, unfortunately, the reliable part of my search may not have happened since several times my daughter has told me the car wouldn't move when she accelerated. She has just started a new job and it is very important that she never misses or is late for work. Second I am still waiting for a license plate for the car. She has been pulled over multiple times by very nice policemen who hear her story and have given her a break to get her tag. I live in Louisiana and am paying for the car but, my daughter is going to be driving it. This can't be the first time in Brad Deery's history they sold a car to someone from another state. It is now approaching the 10th week waiting for a tag. The second so called temporary tag expired August 21st. I am literally almost 1000 miles away or I would be in the dealership every other day until someone got a tag for the car and told me why the car doesn't move at times when the accelerator is pressed. It is definitely not safe even if you drive with the knowledge of the possibility that it can happen. read more

Terrible. I bought a car from then and 4 days later there was something wrong with the engine so I had to take it back to be worked on. They first told me I would have to drive it there if I wanted it to be worked on. After telling them the car was not safe to drive being as it would run and after a few minutes stop running, and my commute would be 1 hour. Then they told me they wouldn't give me a rental car to use while my car was being worked on until some threats came into play. Also I put down $5,400 for a $11,500 car and they took my payment, handed me the keys, only to turn around and tell me I couldn't have the car until I brought them $700 more dollars. The other people in the dealership not so much, communication was little to none, except with Mark. I sent emails to several people in the dealership and the only responses I ever got back were from Mark himself. I found a jeep on cars.com the description both there & on Braddeery.com said it was 4 wheel drive & what i was looking for. We drove from cedar Rapids to look at it. Once we got there the sales man informed us it was only 2wd. The guy went inside to see if there was anything else he would have in my price range. After coming back out he asked if I wanted to look at a liberty which is what I was looking to trade in and had told him from the start. So he went back in looking for something else. This is the 2nd vehicle ive bought from a Deery Dealership and ill never buy another. This last December i bought a Ford Raptor from Brad Deery and it has had a ton of issues. I tried returning it after owning it less than 2 weeks and they said the sale was final but could trade it in on a different vehicle which makes no sense. I was even talked into an extended warranty when i purchased the truck which doesnt cover anything that im having issues with. In less than 4 months the truck went from having no rust to being covered in rust under the cab an don he cab corners(I washed the truck every week and live in an area where they dont put salt down so i dont understand how this could happen this fast without them touching it up just to get it sold), it needed new tie rods, new shocks, the windshield cracked, theres grinding when i turn to the right AND on occasion switching in and out of 4x4. I spent significantly more on this truck versus buying one at another dealership because i was promised quality and I got the complete opposite. Do yourself a favor and shop else where. read more

I looked at a car online before driving to the dealership from out of town for a test drive. Based on the features listed on their website, Brad Deery was one of the only dealers advertising a price close to the Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds True Market Value. However, as we soon discovered, not all those features were listed on the Buyer's Guide in the car's window, and some of the features on the Buyer's Guide ended up not even being on the car itself. From the minute my wife and I arrived, Cathy was extremely pushy, following up every single comment with, "Are you going to buy it?" constantly during and after the test drive. I'm not exaggerating when I say she wouldn't allow more than one second of silence before trying again to close the sale--it was driving me nuts! As a guy who's usually pretty laid-back when it comes to buying a car, I was on the verge of telling her to shut the he-- up or I was going to complain to the manager and walk out. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have held back. When I started walking around the car looking for defects, she had the gall to say, "What is it you don't like? I don't understand why you don't just buy the car if you like it." I did find substantial damage to the rims and I'm pretty sure that's why she didn't want me looking around the car. As if there weren't already enough red flags warning us that this was a horrible decision, Cathy's impatience didn't even stop once we were signing papers. I was taking time to read what I was signing, and she again interrupted me and started asking what was wrong. Seriously!??! I was about to write a check for almost half a year's worth of my take-home pay, and she had to keep interrupting me every 10 seconds while I was trying to skim over the paperwork? Had I not somehow managed to maintain Zen-like patience with her nagging, I would have torn up the papers and thrown them at her in front of her manager and stormed out. Getting back to the car itself, many of the features that were advertised on the car and which are standard on the model we bought had been deleted in the original build according to our local GM dealer, but Brad Deery listed those features anyway. The only reason we did end up buying the car was that the manufacturer's warranty should have covered some of the flaws, but we soon regretted that decision because even some of the standard options such as Bluetooth and heated seats for that trim level that the dealer listed on the Buyer's Guide did not turn out to be on the car. We were also concerned that the damage was even more extensive than what we were able to determine visually while Cathy was pressuring us. After a few days of calls back and forth with Cathy, the manager had the rest of the cars of the same model checked and found that ours wasn't the only one for which the Buyer's Guide was wrong. I was impressed when Deery offered to send a driver to pick up the car and refund our money. It is because of this that I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1. But considering the misrepresentation of the car, it was a no-brainer, even if it was an honest mistake. Had they not screwed up on the Buyer's Guide (which, as it was explained to us, is part of the purchase contract), I might have been out of luck. There are no words to express how awful my sales experience was with Cathy, but I give the dealership credit for making things right, and I learned a few important car-buying lessons. First off, if anyone ever tries to distract you or rush you when you're doing your due diligence and inspecting the car or reading the paperwork, walk out of the dealership, because it's a red flag that they're hiding problems and trying to sneak something past you. Second, "standard" features such as XM radio, Bluetooth, etc., can be deleted from the original build, regardless of the supposed trim level shown by the VIN. Make sure you have the OEM dealership (in my case, a GM dealer) print off the full build sheet for your VIN. And third, the dealer might not even know what they're selling you--so if you're looking for something in particular, make sure you know everything there is to know about that car. read more

A family member worked out a deal on a pre-owned vehicle from this dealership. The problem is with our trade-in well after the fact of the purchase and after paperwork and checks cashed. They looked over our trade in and offered a low in trade allowance. Keep in mind we are trading in a used car with 140,000 miles that we drove over 3 hours to their lot . They come back a week later and claimed issues with the car that they had to get fixed, There was a manufactures bulletin released against the car that they were going to perform. Long story short they were trying to ask for repair work on the trade-in vehicle after the deal was done and checks cashed. Shame on you attempting to use strong arm tactics on an almost 80 year old widow. Your mechanics went over the car in length before offering a trade value. I bought a 2007 Pontiac G6 from Brad Deery less than 4 months ago. Got a good deal, but the check engine light came on. Thought it would be covered under a warranty they said the vehicle had, repair was costly and they did nothing about it. They do not back what they sell. Just lost a customer. read more

I was not very impressed with my purchase experience at Brad Deery. I chose to look there rather than in Cedar Rapids because I thought maybe a small town dealership would be better and I had heard some good things about them. Not so much. The car that we test drove and were interested in was a GM buyback so we had some concerns about having issues down the road. Due to that we felt we needed to negotiate on the price. After going back and forth with our salesperson the business manager came back and we explained our concerns. Her response- what do you expect for a $10,000 car? Really? Yes, when it comes to cars $10k probably isn't much but it's still a lot of money. And if it wasn't that much money to begin with what difference to the dealership would it have made to accept one of our offers. We did end up coming to an agreement and purchased the car. We had noticed when test driving that the car had no floor mats and had asked if there was a second key fob. There was not but our salesperson told us several times that he would get mats and a second fob ordered for us. I emailed the salesperson a few weeks later and asked if the fob and mats were in. I needed to take the car in for service about a month after I purchased it and emailed my salesperson again and told him I would be stopping by if he had the fob and the mats. He did not respond. I stopped by his desk and he said they were on order and would be in Friday- he would call me. I'm still waiting for the fob and mats. Needless to say, not impressed with the sales end of their operation. Definitely will go elsewhere for future purchases. In addition to no fob and no mats we drove away from the dealership with less than a 1/4 tank of gas. I have had the car serviced twice now since owning and will say I am very impressed and happy with the service staff. Everyone is very nice, helpful and considerate. read more

My salesman, Dave Walser, made a rather laborious and time-intensive experience almost pleasant. The Brad Deery management team made me wait several hours while they deemed my trade in, and my business, acceptable. Dave entertained me with his pleasant manner and incredible friendliness. I would absolutely buy another car from Dave. I would absolutely not buy another car from the Brad Deery dealership. read more
