Write a review for Bradley mechanical: we just moved into our new home in July, knowing only what showed up in our home inspection from early June. When we noticed our HVAC Air Handler raining water from it we were naturally concerned. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bradley Mechanical was able to fit us in despite being in the busy season for HVAC.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The technician was courteous & knowledgeable. He did a thorough inspection and cleaning and provided us with some recommendations to reduce the humidity in our crawl space. At the close of the appointment he recommended their Maintenance Program & explained the benefits. It was a no-brainier for us, especially not knowing the house or the systems. Moving into the cooler weather we wanted to use the propane fireplace in the living room which appeared to have never been used. We bought our propane tank but had no idea where to start, so we called Bradley. They were able to connect the tank, inspect the gas logs, get it up & running and educate us on operation. Nice to have that functional to take the chill off. Most recently we were contacted for our regular seasonal cleaning/inspection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bradley Mechanical is easy to book with and were able work around our schedule.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tech was prompt (a little early actually), friendly & got right to work. Had Bradley replace my ducts and upgrade my air handler. After they requested payment I discovered several issues including exposed insulation on multiple sections of ducts, ducts laying on the ground in my crawlspace, nicks in my hardwood floors, and other issues. I contacted them about a starting problem on my Generac generator. They responded 5 times and each time they said the problem was fixed.Each time they responded the generator failed to stare on the next scheduled test start. Each time the responder they replaced another part for a total of $2396.17. On the 6th. visit they said I needed another part costing over $700.00 and they could not say that would fix the problem unti; they installed it. When I questioned why they keep replacing parts without knowing if the generator was fixed. They said Generac training required them to replace parts in order, part A, Part B and Part C until they solved the problem. I hired Bradley Mechanical to install a whole-home Generac generator in March 2025. The total cost was thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. After installation, the County of Henrico inspection on September 16, 2025 failed due to two deficiencies, including failure to install the required carbon monoxide detector. As an elderly homeowner, that safety oversight was very concerning. The system later passed reinspection. On December 8, 2025, during a winter storm and power outage, the generator did not work at all. This was the first time I realized the system had not been functioning properly since installation. There had been no follow-up testing or confirmation that the unit was operating correctly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What followed were multiple service visits and delays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took three attempts and the installation of a third engine on January 12, 2026 to finally get the generator working. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to call the company myself for updates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I requested a partial refund due to months of non-working equipment and the inconvenience involved. That request was never acknowledged. Instead, I later received a thousand-dollar bill for warranty work related to the original installation issue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The company did not indicate the bill was in error, until I complained to the Better Business Bureau.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Bradley Mechanical rejected my request for a partial refund, stating they were not responsible for the equipment failure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Based on how this situation was handled, I feel I was treated unfairly as an elderly woman.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do not believe all customers would be treated this way. We did not notice the issue until the humid summer months. When they returned to troubleshoot less than a year later, it became clear that the dehumidifier had been installed incorrectly. The unit was mounted crooked, the door was improperly installed, and it was not functioning. During this brief visit, they attempted to charge $150 to turn on a power switch that had never been activated during the original installation. Although they stated the fee would be waived, they continued to pursue payment. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company. read more

Do not call Bradley Mechanical for your generator. Their website states "We have a team of certified home generator repair technicians". When we called for service to check our generator which we believed needed the muffler replaced they told us there would be a $225 service call fee. When the technician came out he told us it would be $330 per hour in addition to the service call fee. When I asked if he was a generac certified technician he said no, but he has worked on them. Should have sent him away then. An hour and a half was spent assessing the generator, with a lot of that time speaking on the phone to someone about what he was finding and what the cost to replace the muffler and cover plate. He also found another problem and gave a quote for that. So from 9:00 am to 10:30 am he was here and presented a bill for $870. Nothing was fixed, this amount was just to assess the generator and determine the issues! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The company states their techs are certified, they do not tell you they charge $330 an hour in addition to the service call fee when you set up the appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After the shock of paying almost $900 for no repair at all, I called Virginia Power Solutions to ask what they charge for a service call and their charge is over $80 cheaper and they do not automatically start charging you extra the minute they step on your property. I was very pleased at the service provided to us. My 20 year old gas hot water furnace was not working properly. The young man did an outstanding job, fixing the pressure on the boiler, bleeding every radiator in the house, constantly explaining what he was doing and why, took his shoes off rather than track dirt in my house, very polite, professional, knew what he was doing. We have used them for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. All services have been outstanding. They are expensive! There are definitely more affordable alternatives out there. If you are on a budget, then Bradley may not be for you. If you want it done right, then Bradley IS for you. **update** We recently tried another service provider and I think we may be switching. Why? The other provider is notably more affordable, still provides high level of professionalism and quality of service, and has far superior communications than Bradley Mechanical does. If I could give this company fewer than 1 star, I would. I had an absolutely horrible experience that I hope others can avoid. I also do not like giving negative ratings like this, but in this case I feel it is warranted to save others the headache and time. Bradley was tasked with installing a gas line for me ahead of getting a fireplace insert installed. It took them 5+ visits to get the line right (this should have been a 1-time job), then we found out the line was installed in the wrong place. When I called the manager of the plumbing department to express my dissatisfaction, he told me "well, we've lost money by having to send out guys out so many times." Sir, that is not my problem. Had Brantley for two electrical jobs. External light were added and I had a good experience. Second job was for new outlets added to an enclosed porch. The outlets were installed but had issues with a breaker just before they left the techs reset the breaker and left. Over the next few days this breaker continued to trip. When I called they sent techs quickly and found the problem was arching in the outlet box. The found and fixed it quickly. My complaint, besides the job not being done correctly in the first place, is that no one reached out to me acknowledging that and error was made and apologizing for the error. I was very disappointed appointment ...I had a new Lennox ac installed by Bradley Mechanicals less than 2 yrs after they installed my cores went bad...the first time they installed my cores they put cooper cores ,when Bradley had to replace my cores they installed aluminum cores inwhich they don't cool my home as much.. The full cost of the labor was $1300.00 inwhich they claimed they will cover all but $300.00 and if it happens again this was on me. I also had to come out of my pocket with $300.00 because they told me I didnt have labor warranty inwhich was never offered... We have 2 units at our home, the downstairs unit stopped working, I called Bradley they scheduled a technician for the next day, by time he arrived the upstairs unit had stopped working. Benjamin Hernandez looked at both of our 20+ yr old units and told me I needed freon and quoted the rate, stating that this will hold us over for a while, it could be a few days or a few weeks, but they could not guarantee no other issues. The technican took many photos to show me what he was doing and where there were issues. I knew we probably got more years out of the units that they were intended to work, so I knew I need new - everything except the duct work. Thankfully there was a postponed sales appointment and Ethan Ayers was over here the very next day, he laid out what was needed and gave us 3 options, good, better and OMG we need to sale the house to afford it... I am joking of course, the most expensive unit was not for us, it had all the bells and whistles that we are not interested in and at this age, not interested in learning how to work them..... think of a smart watch controlling your HVAC... not for me. So we purchased the 17.5 seer, it was scheduled to be installed on the hottest day of the year, so rather than have the technicians die in our attic, we opted to postpone. Thankfully they (Shawn Bradley and his trusty sidekick) installed the lower unit last night and it cooled the lower floor from 88 degrees to 79 in less than 90 min. Once the sun went down and the outside temp was lower, we opened all the windows for free AC. They are still open as the team had to remove the old unit from attic and install the new, so the door has been open most of the day. Still only 77 inside and no ac has been on since yesterday, just a cooler day to be working in the attic. Shawn Bradley and his apprentice have been working all day on the upper unit, carrying old parts down 3 flights of stairs to their truck and new parts up 3 flights of stairs, adding a new line running along the rafters, out the siding at the floor and down to the unit. It looks very nice and in time we proably will not even notice the pvc pipe. Unit #2 is not fully installed yet, but so far I am happy with the work of Bradley Mechanical, from my initial call/email, meeting with the service tech, the sales rep and now the installers. Also, Shawn listed all of the services that Bradley can service, keeping it all under one roof is great and I already making my list for future projects I need completed by a professional company. Our upstairs AC was blowing nothing but warm air, so I called Bradley Mechanical for a service call. They gave us a 2-hr window, 12-2, but called at 1:50 and arrived at 2:30. We are right in the middle of the pandemic, the number of new cases hasn't seen a steady decline yet, so I wore a mask and disinfected the area he would be working in, along with the usual commonly-touched surfaces. The technician didn't wear a mask, didn't discuss it or ask our preference. I generally respect a person's choice to wear a mask or not, but when you enter someone's home you should at least ask what their preferences are. If I had an extra clean one I would have offered it. Other than than being late and maskless, he was pleasant and the service was good. read more

These guys are amazing! I don't understand some of the negative reviews though. My wife and I used them before for out hot water heater, and even back a few years ago, they were amazing then too! I had an old, ancient, slowly dying, 2-ton HVAC unit outside my house, and called Bradley Mechanical. To my surprise, Mr. Brad Bradley (the main owner and CEO!) himself came to my house and sat down at my dining room table and discussed options, chatted with me, and was very down to earth. Long story short, today (5/5/2020) Kory and Chris came to my house with a brand new Lennox 2-ton, 16 SEER unit, a new evaporator coil, misc ductwork materials, and a host of other things. They were so cool and so professional. Even with this COVID-19 stuff, I would go outside and "hang out" chatting with them, asking them if they needed anything. They took care of me, I took care of them. That's how it should be, in my opinion. On top of that, Rusty (one of the supervisors) also came by to check on things and also work on a new installation of new pull-down attic steps (which broke last year!). He too was awesome and chatted with me and I even lent him a pair on vice grips and channel lock pliers in case he needed them. In closing, Bradley Mechanical isn't just your common, everyday, HVAC company. They do all sorts plumbing, heating, electrical work, etc... and the best part - they treat you like family! read more

For copper coil replacement, Lennox is using aluminum coil nowadays; the other authorized Lennox dealer told me about this. You are their premiere dealer and your staffs should know about this instead of making me to wait for copper coil part to come in the summer heat. The condensation drain (or whatever it is I'm no expert....just like these guys aren't) leaked everywhere. After looking at it they had just jammed it in. A different guy came out a third time after I called in a panic when water was pouring from my ceiling. He had to remove it all and fix it. I have an annual HVAC contract with Bradley Mechanical. One of the less experienced technicians visited my home for seasonal service. The system was working well. During the tune-up the system went down unexpectedly due to accidental damage to a major circuit board by the technician. A few days later they sent out a senior technician who quickly identified the earlier technician caused damage. He replaced the circuit board, showed me the damage, and left without any confrontation on who should be responsible for the circuit board replacement cost. Bradley Mechanical covered the replacement/repair cost as they should have. Bradley Mechanical is a very honest and professional HVAC company with a great reputation in RVA. The damage to my system was an accident quickly corrected. They could have hidden this damage from me and demanded payment. Instead they were honest, recognized their error and made sure they continued to have a happy repeat customer. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY This company is horrible and not worth the money at all. Today (January 25, 2019) My dad and I had a new air conditioner installed. We were told by the sales person that it would be completed in one day. That was completely wrong. The workers did not complete the job and left us with NO HEAT in the middle of January!! This 8 hour job turned into 7 hours uncompleted and left because they would not get paid after 5 and no over time. Plus they left black hand prints on the balls and the vacuum exploded in the living room. It covered the entire living room, kitchen, hallway, and bathroom in dust. We have several inches of dirt and dust! This is not right at all and completely outrageous. The owner called saying we still had to pay the full amount and tried to call a cleaning lady to clean the house. Like NO.... We have thousands of dollars of furniture in this house. No one is gonna mess it up again. I will not be paying the full amount after this was done since I never signed a contract on the price or any agreement. Therefore, something has got to give and I want my HEAT back!!!! COME BACK AND FINISH THE DAMN JOB RIGHT!!!! They came back on Saturday January 26, 2019. It took them from 8 to 2 to complete the job with three people. Additionally, the system is still not working correctly and sounds like the entire roof is about to take off with the amount of air coming out of the vents. I am seriously thinking about filing a complaint with the BBB. I can't believe this company has done this to my family. What a waste of money and a waste of my time. I should of picked another company. Lessoned learned. Update situation (February 1, 2019) my dad and I went to go pay the bill for the work. I have used them for a few years now - both at home and for my business HVAC. We recently needed service on an a/c unit not working. Matt came out and started to look for the problem. Half way through his diagnosis, he didn't have something he needed so he left to go back to shop to get it. Once he found the problem he said it was a leak on a copper line in the outside unit and couldn't fix that day and would return the next day (a Friday) to fix it. He came by the next day and said since it was raining he would have to return another day. He finally returned on the following Thursday - a full week after identifying the problem to fix it. He fixed it in the rain!!!!!!! While I was waiting on them I received another competitive quote to fix it because I figured he had forgotten about my repair. The other company could not diagnosis the issue properly because Bradley Matt had taken some critical parts with him to keep others from being able to do the work. Totally unacceptable experience. When he left here on the first Thursday, I received a bill via e-mail that was for the whole repair (it had pictures of the problem and a video of him doing his diagnostic search). Haven't completed the job but here's the bill!!! When he came back on the next day (Friday), he punched something in his tablet and sent me another bill. Haven't completed the job but here's the bill again!!! Once the job was completed, I received the third sending of the bill. This company needs to focus more on getting the work done promptly and less focus on automatic billing and text alerts. They also have a big new facility that is costly so I paid about 33% higher than I was quoted on from the other company that I tried to get to fix it while I waited. The owner and his buddy need to quit making commercials where they try and imitate the guys from the Sonics commercials and look out for their customers and the service that they receive!!!!!!!! read more

Bradley has out grown its local feel and support. I have used them and known the owners for years. Yet, the don't promptly call you back. Give promises of service then half way do them. There service staff is always friendly and courteous, and I hope they are just dealing with growing pains. Until fixed, I would stay away from them. I do wish them the best. read more

We have a boiler heating system that is hard to work on. We have worked with 2 different companies and the prices to fix it were outrageous. Someone recommended Bradley Mechanical and we gave them a call. They came in when they said they would, the technician was very knowledgeable and friendly and was able to fix our system. Not impressed. We had a leak under our home, and upon further inspection by the first plumbing company, were told our pipes needed replacing-all of them-based on the age of the home. We called Bradley Mechanical, and some other companies to get additional estimates before we committed to one company. The tech was due to come out, I specifically asked for them to not send someone prior to 2:30 because no one would be at the house that day. I get a call at 1:50, by a tech-who doesn't identify himself or the company and just says my name when I answer...then asks me my address. I had to ask what company he was with....then he tells me he's around the corner and will be there in 5 minutes. Luckily, someone was there to answer the door. At this point I didn't really think anything of it, I just brushed it off. However, when he got to our house, he was extremely standoffish. My BF asked him if he wanted to see the pipes that we needed replacing, and the tech replied "No, I've done a million of these jobs-it'll be $3500." Y'all. All without even checking what needed to be done. Or seeing how the layout of the house was, where our shower/bathrooms and kitchen were. There was no way for him to know how many feet of piping we needed replaced, or if it all actually needed to be replaced. The kicker? The plumber (small, family-owned, licensed and insured company) that we used? $130 bill for fixing the area. No further work needed. Please, call around before you get ripped off. Bradley Mechanical is the way to go!! We used them to install our downstairs heating and air system 4+ years ago, and recently used them to replace our upstairs system. We have been very pleased with their work! They are quick to respond, and set up an appointment quickly and even in this time of supply chain issues, was able to install our new system within a week of our inquiry. The installation team was friendly, respectful, knowledgeable and did a great job with cleanup after the installation was complete. The technicians at Bradley seem knowledgeable and professional. They recently handled a warranty repair on our 2 year old Lennox system and everything is working fine. HOWEVER, the billing department is awful. The labor charge for a 45 minute repair job was $288!! Note, this charge is in addition to the $99 diagnostic fee. When I spoke with Kathie Cash in billing, she said that the charge also has to cover her time to fill out the warranty paperwork. What?!?! How much time could it possibly take to fill out a warranty form? Trying to get a straight answer from her is excruciating. Maybe it's not her fault . . after all, she's trying to justify a $288 charge for 45 minutes of work. In fairness, who could possibly justify that without talking in circles? I had been very impressed with the installation of the $11,000 Lennox system, but to get gouged by the billing department on a warranty claim is outrageous.
