Oh my Patrick, you are amazing and so is your amazing locally owned and operated Market. Not only…read moredo you have a wonderful selection of meat, the steak we picked up you cut for us to our desired thickness. So you are looking for a huge steak, or a wicked good deal on chicken breast, or actually those square lunchroom pizzas from your child hood memory, Guess where you go, Patrick's. Yes, crispitos, cheese sticks, Mexican pizza, square pepperoni pizza, you name it, and they have it (unless they are sold out). But don't kid yourself, you really have to come here for the steaks, some of the most tender cut of beef I have ever eaten. All steaks are cut to a 1 inch diameter that is in the meat case, but you can request 2 inch cut or 3 inch cut, whichever your heart desires. And 2 inches of a NY Strip or ribeye with the correct seasoning and grilling method. Amazing! We got to meet Patrick, he was actually the one who asked us if he could help us find anything and shared a little bit about the market. We asked if we could get some steaks cut and he was more than enthusiastic to help us. Our special request and within seconds Patrick's disappears to the back to cut our requested order. Exceptional service, amazing values. They also have a seafood case (we didn't try but almost got some scallops because they look amazing). We will definitely be back,we will drive out of our way to purchase here and get amazing steaks. You are definitely missing out if you don't go here at least once.

This is going to be short and sweet... because well, it isn't tough to say the truth. Once you get…read moreseafood from A&V, you will make the drive when you want good, fresh, and reasonably priced seafood. It is THAT big of a difference from anywhere else in Huntsville that I had gotten seafood from, and I regret it taking me as long as it has to find them. The owner goes 2x/week to the gulf to load up coolers and bring the fresh haul back to the shop. There is no fishy smell, no slimy looking fillets or shellfish, just your briny smell of the ocean and the bounty that came from the sea. While the offerings can be seasonal, the gulf produces some standard things that will always be there: salmon, ahi, and yellowtail are sashimi grade and looked amazing. I was there for shrimp and you can get damn-near tiger sized gulf shrimp for the price the large grocers carry. No contest there. They also have things you don't typically see around here (fresh) - mahi, snapper, seabass, etc... the quality stands on its own here and the owners are a pure joy to talk with about their offerings. I won't buy seafood anywhere else, as long as I have the luxury to plan enough in advance.

I truly never give one-star reviews - I figure there MUST be at least ONE thing about the place…read morethat would redeem it. Alas, I cannot say this for Crawmamma's. From the smell of old grease in the air to the lack of ventilation to the extraordinarily sub-par food, I just have no stars for them. We started with gumbo - it smelled so good. But how in the world they managed to get lovely smells from something so bland, I'll never understand. I had small pieces of shrimp - not a whole one. Same with okra - and the gumbo had tomatoes. Small pieces, but still - and all this was captured in a thick, gloppy sauce that I dare not call broth. Clearly, it had been thickened with something - maybe corn starch - but there was no taste. Then, we went on to the blackened grouper. I had a piece of "grouper" that was paper thin and looked and tasted remarkably like tilapia. Again - somehow, even with blackening spices, the fish was tasteless. Utterly tasteless and dreadfully dry. It came with "potatoes and corn" - make that one small red potato and a small half corn cob. Both also tasteless. My dinner companion ordered catfish - he ordered two extra pieces because he knew he had seen very small filets before and Crawmammas managed to surpass even the smallest filets ever seen. The hush puppies were tiny and hard as golfballs. The fries were greasy. The tartar sauce was good - and that's why this place gets one star. Sad. Our bill, with tip (because horrid food is not the server's fault) was $75 for two people. I was very very sad.
