I'm so happy we made the time and money investment in our son and in our family to sign up for brain balance. My son was having behavioral issues so bad that I didn't know what to do. I was honestly afraid for his and my safety at times due to his outbursts. He often acted like an animal whenever we went somewhere new or had people over to the house. Screaming, jumping on people and off of high things, running around like a mad man. No matter what I said it seemed like he just literally could not hear me and I was at my wits end. When we got him evaluated it turns out his brain was operating at a 3 year old level when he was actually 6. No wonder he felt so out of control. We decided to sign him up for the works! The center always warned us what to expect from his behavior along the journey and they were always so accurate! It was really hard for the first couple of months but it was undeniable they knew what they were talking about and we knew we needed to trust the process. He finished his program a few months ago and has had time for everything he learned to solidify in his brain. He now operates at his age level or above and it shows! Today a girl was making fun of him and it would have made him go absolutely ballistic a few months ago. Instead he handled it like an absolute champ! Better than some adults. Last night he came up with his own idea and included his siblings to give the adults back massages. I'm so happy to have my sweet, sensitive, caring son back. I cannot say enough good things about Brain Balance. We've been dealing with behavioral challenges since pre-K, and after trying different things over the years, we finally decided to give this program a try in November 2025. I was hopeful--but I didn't expect to see this kind of growth. When my son started, he was functioning closer to a 4-year-old level, and now he's meeting expectations for his actual age of 7. That alone speaks volumes. He's more affectionate, more aware of his feelings, and better able to work through them. One of the biggest changes has been how he handles being told "no," bad news, and changes. Before, those moments were very hard for him. Now he's able to pause, regulate, and respond so much better. That has made a huge difference in our everyday life. While in the program, I made the decision to homeschool him so he could fully focus on his development. As of April 1st, he transitioned back into school, and that was a huge moment for us. He was excited to be back with his friends, and now he's able to handle other kids better, even in situations where things feel overwhelming or too noisy. He's also communicating better with his teacher, which is something we struggled with before. Another thing that stood out to me--his pediatrician has always emphasized the importance of nutrition for brain development. This was the first time I was able to see that come together in a structured, real-life way. He has not been formally diagnosed, and we intentionally started with nutrition and lifestyle changes first, which this program helped bring to life. Jacqueline, the director, is amazing. She's supportive, knowledgeable, and gives feedback that actually fits my household and real-life routines, not just generic advice. Ashtyn at the front desk is also wonderful--very personable and great with all the kids. Shout out to the coaches as well--they are patient, engaging, and truly invested in the kids' progress. The whole environment feels welcoming. I'll be honest--the investment can feel high, but seeing the growth in my child, it has been worth it for our family. They also offer different programs, payment plans, and options through the state if your child qualifies. As a Black parent, I also want to say this--getting help for your child should not feel taboo. I'm so glad I moved forward anyway. The growth I've seen in my son has truly surprised me in the best way. We still have more time left in the program, but I'm already grateful for how far he's come--and I would absolutely recommend this to other parents looking for real change. read more

When you come to Brain Balance, your met with friendly, kind and caring staff who don't just care about your kids but you as a parent as well. Our kids are currently in the midst of their program which typically last either 3 or 6 months depending on what you decide your needs are. The kids have an hour long session 3 times a week. This is a commitment, so plan accordingly. We are excited to see the final outcome of the program. I have seen some small wins here and there. Which they say to "celebrate it all" and I agree if your child wets the bed less than usual or the behavior they have is less intense or they use their words and talk with you about their feeling all wins and sometimes Big wins in my book. This program and these people literally saved my daughter (who has autism and adhd) from a VERY uncertain future... Before she did the program, I was on the phone with the program director and admitted through tears that I was concerned my almost 18-yr-old wickedly book smart, creative daughter would be on the streets at some point soon, due to her yet inability to thrive in any school setting, take direction, have ANY kind of future thinking or planning, bad social skills and general anxiety, lots of stubbornness, and inability to tolerate medications, and other concerns. She calmly described the program, took the time to answer EVERY question I had and to listen so well. Every single individual I have dealt with at this Brain Balance from the owner to the coaches to the front desk receptionists, have been exceptional - patient and working with us through every up and down. This track record is extremely hard to find anywhere. We have tried lots of things prior and mom guilt and shame are very real, especially when one has a child with special needs. This place was SO different! I was shocked. To my surprise, the program is data driven and so well organized. I looked forward to the monthly progress reports with the director as we saw some gains from even the first one. When I had concerns that my daughter wasn't consistent enough, they were met with evidence that in fact the program was still working. Even things I saw as negatives were shown to actually be glimpses that permanent gains were right around the corner. I began to look for and note and celebrate every gain- cognitively, socially, and in her mood and emotional regulation. My daughter began the program at almost 18; it was likely our last attempt to turn her life around in a positive direction. I had heard about the immense success my friend's 13-yr-old daughter had had with it and very hesitantly began to hope it might be able to help my daughter too. Even through illness and stress at the beginning, I told myself we just can't give up. I used incentives like going to get lunch out after each in-center session to get her there. I often had to wake her up to get her there as she has sleep issues. I can say we did our best, but it was far from perfection. It was what she and I could do. About 2.5 mo in, she admitted she felt better and she knew the brain balance program was helping her. At 4 mo in to her 6-mo program I saw she was more confident, wanted to and sought out ways to spend time with me and the family more. She had more good days than rough ones. At 6 months in, I could hardly believe she initiated and kept up entertain her 5-yr-old cousin for over an hour, drawing with her, talking to her, and enjoying it all. She offered her piggy back rides even. Prior to the program she was very hesitant to be around little kids for they were unpredictable. She also didn't often engage much at all in social settings. Here in this restaurant she seemed calm and even looked like she had remembered and was able to implement all the skills and mom-type of things she had seen and experienced caring adults do with her when she was younger. She seemed SO natural. I received so many comments from family who had known her struggles as to how connected she seemed and how much they enjoyed being with her. Seeing her connections grow within herself and to me and those who love her has been the best part! For the first time in 15 years, I do not worry about her future. I am able to trust that she will be ready for the next right thing her for at just the right time. She has begun to apply for jobs and excitedly so. She works through frustrations much better. She chooses to join us in outings and on trips where before she couldn't handle them due to reduced capacity and sensory overwhelm almost all the time in public. Our home is 1000% more peaceful and now we all are able to begin to heal. I can hands down, 100% recommend Brain Balance Mesa to anyone with any concern for their child's ability to function or thrive. I wish we had found and gone through this program years earlier but am so grateful my daughter did once we learned about it! Horrible communication, dirty, waste of money, rude employees. Do not waste your time or money here.

I brought my 5th grader to Brain Balance Achievement Center of Mesa after hearing about the center on the radio a few times. Before this I had spent 4 years in IEP meetings with different diagnosis of why my child was academically brilliant but unable to sit still, focus on work, remember to turn in homework that we spent hours doing (&arguing over) each night, nor actively participate in group discussions. Aside from academic progress my son was not making solid friendships or understanding social interactions and felt like he was being bullied at school, because other children didn't want to play with him. In reality, my son had missed developmental milestones while progressing from infancy to childhood- a major skipped milestone was crawling. He basically went from tummy time to sitting to walking in 10 months. This also meant he retained many infant or primitive reflexes that were responsible for helping his brain form connections to help his right and left brain be in balance. What seemed like small quirks in Kindergarten and first grade continued to escalate and make learning difficult for him and his peers. His distractions in class led to missed recesses and those distractions included fidgeting with objects on his desk and fidgeting with his clothing, chewing /sucking on shirt collars, making random sounds, getting out of his seat, rocking in his chair, randomly walking around class and telling the class he was bored. Work was misplaced or incomplete and homework was not turned in regularly both of these began impacting his grades and after third grade the possibility of him being held back for lack of effort and incomplete work was frustrating- especially when I and his teachers knew his test and IQ scores were far above his grade level. When 5th grade started, I warned his teachers I was taking him off medications for ADD/ADHD (in the prior 4 years he had diagnoses of level 4 Asd, ODD, ADD, ADHD) and trying out The Brain Balance program------We are about 5 months into the program and he has been able to remind himself to do his homework and complete it in a typical time frame (& turn it in) and began understanding and recognizing cause and effect much better and is staying in his seat during designated times. He is recognizing facial expressions and social cues from peers at school and no longer gravitates to only seeking attention from adults, but likes to interact and play with peers in his grade. The initial assessment showed that my son was right brain weak and left brain strong and that he retained nearly all of the primitive reflexes that he should have long ago outgrew. He has moved up several levels in the Brain Balance program and is showing improvement in both his home life and school life. read more

Please be aware of this place. I do not know where to even begin. If you are going here, please read everything that you are signing and ask a ton of questions (especially about the upfront cost). It is not what they portray it as being a deposit/money that would go towards their program. It is non-refundable. They will speak to you as if you have to put down a deposit of $1500, and at the end they would bring you the form to fill out that says you are actually paying for their "preliminary" services. Which we had no idea we were paying for. And what the "preliminary" services are is a basic list of exercises and a grocery list that we had to do at home. They call it a program made just for her. Yes that's right $1500 for that. Does that seem fair to you? Let alone the cost of the entire program once your in is $11,000-$12k or more which in turn your $1500 would go towards that cost. And forget about ever getting that back if you don't get into their program, even if they were in the wrong. The biggest disappointment is their lack of communication and support. When we initially met with their team they failed to mention that this preliminary program (at home) would take anywhere from 1-3 months or even longer. So month after month we would do exercises at home and come back to their center to see if she would be ready for her to go into their program yet. 3 and half months later we are still not in the program. What?? And each time we were given short answers, by just one worker now (Mckenna who btw is phenomenal), who was the only support that we had throughout this process. So to us it felt like we were being given less and less support as time went on. After this last meeting, we were fed up because we were told again that we were still not ready to start and that we'd have to come back yet again. Very disappointing because we knew our daughter knew and did all the exercises correctly just didn't know why we had to wait yet again. Such a waste of our time and money. Had we known all these things beforehand we would've really considered not doing this program. I just hope that who ever is reading this and considering going there to please do your research and read EVERYTHING you sign. read more

I have seen improvements in my son who is 7 since starting. We are in the 6month program. He struggled reading for 4 months then started brain balance and in 2 weeks he was doing so much better and reading in school. Before we were in speech, OT, tutoring etc. with only small gains. Any improvement is worth it! My older daughter is 16 and also does the program, there has been subtle improvements with her but she has larger gaps to close so I'm told it will take her longer for her to improve then my other child. My grandson has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is ten years old now and has been benefitting from the intervention of the unique program at Brain Balance. I've observed such dramatic, positive adaptation strategies that he and his family have been using after connecting with the coaches, director, and staff there at the business on Val Vista Ave. My background is in Child Development and Psychology so I thought I knew a thing or two about children. He has "homework" exercises that strengthen his core, his balance, his coordination, small motor skills, startle reflex, etc. My grandson's confidence, focus, athleticism, social skills, coping skills, self help skills...have improved noticeably causing him to be a happier person. I am strongly recommending this comprehensive program to all parents, especially those of special needs (not limited to autism) children.
