They are very honest. I had to have the front struts done on my car. The struts were under warranty so only had to pay for labor.

Today I went to Brake Masters on 51st Ave and Peoria for routine maintenance on my 2023 SUV that has 39,000 miles on it. Just an oil change and tire rotation. No oil was leaking; no tires were low or flat. The service technician broke the oil pan during the oil change. Of course, they wouldn't accept responsibility. They blamed it on the fact that it was plastic and wear and tear. I was told by the manager, Jeremy, that they couldn't get a replacement plastic pan for 2-3 days. I have no other way to get home and to work, so waiting several days wasn't going to work. They conveniently "found" a metal pan which was over $345. The total bill came to over $500 even with the "discount" for labor. Why should I have to pay for the damage caused by their employee? It wasn't leaking so it wasn't broken when I brought it to them for maintenance... not repairs. I'm planning to contact Brake Master's corporate office and the Better Business Bureau, but I feel obligated to warn our community about this kind of service which doesn't go along with their service motto on their website. read more

EXTREME NEGLIGENCE: Incorrect parts, missing components, and a bone-dry engine. DO NOT TRUST THIS LOCATION WITH YOUR VEHICLE. I brought my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan to the 5180 W Peoria Ave location (Glendale, AZ) for an oil change and front brake service, and it has turned into an absolute nightmare of negligence and cover-ups. Here is the exact timeline of how this shop risked destroying my engine: The First Error: Immediately after pickup, the check engine light came on. The staff cleared the code, but on the drive home, my oil light began flashing at every stop. The Attempted Upsell: When I brought it back, they tried to charge me $450 to replace an "oil sensor." The Proof of Negligence: I took the car for a second opinion. It was discovered that this shop had installed the wrong oil filter, and the pressure check valve and center shaft were completely missing from the assembly. The Rushed "Fix": Confronted with this evidence, the shop agreed to replace the oil housing for free. A job estimated to take 3 hours was rushed through in just 30 minutes. The Aftermath: Days later, I noticed a massive, steady leak. When I checked the dipstick, there was absolutely zero oil left in my engine. Running an engine bone-dry can completely destroy it. After being towed back to their shop today (July 16, 2026), they are now trying to claim the leak is "transmission fluid" and not related to the oil housing they just rushed to replace. The level of incompetence here is staggering. Not only did they install incorrect parts and leave vital components out of my engine, but they also tried to charge me hundreds of dollars to cover up their own mistake. I am currently demanding a full investigation and an engine safety guarantee. They are refusing to take accountability, I will be contacting their corporate office next! I have never been to a more honest shop! Another auto shop told me my rotors were shot and I needed brand new ones @ $600 an axle. I called Brake Masters for a 2nd option. Jerry and his staff assured me that my rotors had enough left to be turned. This honest approach not only saved me a ton of $, it gained them a customer for life. Do NOT come to this brake masters! I don't know what inexperienced mechanics work here but I've had many things go wrong!! First off they changed my brakes and literally a week later I was unable to move my car forward and so a tow truck had to come grab my car! I took it another place and they said that who ever did the job messed up! And then I went and told them and just said that "these things happened and nothing is 100% guaranteed" what's that supposed to mean?! When I PAY for something it's 1000% supposed to be guaranteed that I won't be stuck on a BUSY ROAD! And another thing I got my oil changed and they didn't even tighten the screw so my oil was LEAKING!!!! What kind of service is this?! After an hour, I got a call back, letting me know the situation and what needs to be done, and how much it will cost us. which is pretty reasonable, especially for our car. we've been shopping around asking different shops how much the cost will be, and Scott gave us an honest estimate and guaranteed that we would get the car in great shape again. I took my car in because it wasn't shifting and asked for an oil change. When given the choice of oil change I choose the premium one but asked to hold off until I knew the price of the other repair. They went and did it anyway. Fine. Then they called saying I need a new switch cable the bushing was bad, dealer part only. The total repair, including a $475 dollar cable & and a hour and a half labor, would be $900. I took my car back and my brother in law put in a new bushing, worth $4, and installed it in 20 mins. Car works beautifully. They could have tried a bushing first THEN jumped to cable since the bushing was visably damaged. It was going to take another 24 hours to get the dealer part anyway. I don't appreciate being lied to or upgraded without my permission. I will never go here again read more

He was very honest with me and cared more about helping me than getting money. The whole staff there really care about you as a person and want to help you and not just take your money. If I could give zero stars I would. Back in February I came to get my oil changed, somehow they broke my master cylinder and flooded it with brake fluid. They said it was "inevitable" but the dealership said otherwise when I took it in. They tried to get me to sign up for a credit card and saying it would cost $1500 .. went to the dealership and it was $100. read more

By 1 pm I received a call saying that unfortunately his alignment machine was broken so I had to pick up my car, my car was almost un drive able, they messed up with the steering wheel; The shop Manager promised to call me next Monday to reschedule the appointment, no call on Monday, Tuesday, I called them to see what's going on Wednesday, they don't even apologize for not calling me and his machine problem was still broken. The staff is very unprofessional. We took our vehicle in for an alignment and oil change. They told us they need to tap the oil pan because the bolt wouldn't screw into it anymore so we allowed them to do that. Ten days later and out vehicle is leaking fluids from everywhere. We never had aa problem with fluids leaking before we brought it to them. They claim the problems where there when we brought it in the first time yet they neglected to tell us. I will start with the positives. They answered the phone. That is where they end! From there on it went down hill. The woman I spoke with said they could look at my vehicle within 30 minutes. I called them 2 hours later and it was still not on the lift. 3 hours later they called me with the estimate which I approved however they then informed me that they could not do the work because their lift was broken, which they knew the day before and they still had me bring it down. I will never use them again as they are all about themselves and have no concern for their customers or their customers time! On the bright side however the Brake Masters at 9240 Peoria Ave is a great shop! I know the money all goes to the same pocket, but this location is a pimple on the ass of Brake Masters and needs to be lanced and or removed! read more

I had one of the worst experiences at this location I had made an appointment exactly at 8:30. I walked in and told the person at the front desk that I ONLY NEEDED MY FRONT BREAKS DONE AND THAT WAS IT. He told me that they were inspecting the back too, like I know what's wrong with my car I don't need the back I only need the front!! That was my only priority!!! Again this particular Break Masters store 147 rules the day. So today is May 26th 2020. I had an appointment at 11am. I needed them to inspect my lug bolts and nuts as a so called friend who was working on my veh told me that several of them where stripped. So in to store 147 I go. Shortly afterwards they come to me and let me know that everything is fine with my parts other than one bolt was slightly boogered up and so the mechanic cleaned it up and put a new bolt on it. He let me know that my friend had severely over tighten all of them. My fee for this service was zero dollars. So I bought the employees of this store a large Domino's Pizza and a 2 l of Coca-Cola. I accompanied a friend as she came in to Brake Masters as she needed her front breaks done. The quote was much cheaper than what the dealer was asking and she even managed to get her alignment done as well as her break fluid flush for much cheaper! I'm very surprised by the service she received and at such a good price! When we walked in there was only one man at the register but another guy from the garage immediately walked in and asked if he could help us. Also upon returning to pick up the car, they were really prompt about helping us out! It didn't take long to do the brakes and they even called and confirmed the price before starting. I have been a loyal customer of Brake Masters at this location for over 15 years. In the past, the customer service I received was great. Unfortunately, due to new management, the customer service is now terrible. A while back told me that they couldn't find my wheel lock after I told them where it was. They told me that they would have to break the locks off to rotate my tires. They were the only company that has worked on my vehicle since I purchased the tires, so I told them that If the key was missing they didn't put it back the last time they rotated my tires. Therefore they agreed to put new locks on at no labor cost to me as long as I purchased the new locks. I agreed. Once they ordered and replaced the new locks, I noticed that they replaced the locks with regular lug nuts. I asked them why I didn't get wheel locks, and they told me that I should know that they don't purchase aftermarket parts. How was I supposed to know that? The manager was very condescending to me, and tried to make me look like an idiot because I didn't know their policy of not ordering after-market parts when my conversation with the technician was all about the aftermarket tire locks that he said he would order for me. The new manager is very unprofessional. His team made a mistake, and he wouldn't own up to it. I will go back to supporting Mom and Pop shops, because they depend on return business to pay their bills and treat the customer right unlike Break Masters' employees and management. read more

About a month ago I took my truck here for brakes. I was very pleased with the job they did and the price was somewhat less then I anticipated. That being said, the best thing about this place is the way they treat you. They treat you like you are a friend not just a customer. They explain everything and show you on your car what they're talking about. They don't try to up-sell you either. I was impressed enough to bring my wife's car in for an oil change and brake inspection today and received the same personable attention. I will be taking our vehicles here from now on for whatever they need because they provide a wide range of services. Unfortunately I have to give them a two star because before they used to be great there; customer service use to always be top notch the last three times I've gone has been disappointing. The individual that I speak to on the phone hasn't been as cheerful/friendly it's like I'm bothering when I call them to make an appointment or to ask a question. Also the last three times that I've gone there; yesterday 4/13/19 was a recent visit and perhaps the last one; but once again they left oil both on my steering wheel and my drivers door. Just left this place and I won't be returning. They pulled a real shady move right now. I called yesterday and made appointment for today to have my husband's brakes replaced, I specifically said just the brakes. What do they do, add in an oil change for an extra 70 dollars. So when the truck is ready and its time to pay, my husband's questions the oil change added. The emplyee responds " you signed off on it" yes he did and he should have reviewed the work order before signing but why did the employee take it upon himself to automatically add this extra service. I took my BMW X5 in to have the brake pads changed and they were quick and thorough. I appreciate that the amount quoted over the phone was the same amount charged. I will use them again. Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. 8/03/18 I brought my X5 in for an oil change and replace bushings since BMW on Camelback service told me they need replacing. Jeff and his honest guys checked them and found they don't need replacing! While I was there, they informed another customer that they'd found a little antifreeze leak and fixed it for her. I'll be entrusting them with both my BMW's from now on! Bye bye dealership! 8/04/18 When they finished with my car somehow the emergency brake was put on and they couldn't get it to release. so it took three people to move the car and it was finally released- semi released. I left the bay with the parking light on and the next day it turned red and the car wouldn't move! My husband got it going and we took it back over to brake Masters. They couldn't figure out after scanning it with their scanner what was wrong and suggested I go back to the dealership. I told them "they are specialists in breaks so how do they not know how to release an emergency break?" but they had no answer for me. They didn't seem to care and left me out in the 111 degree heat. I called the dealership, BMW NScottsdale, and they told me how to release the break manually, so fortunately I got my car moving again but I'm going to have to take it up there to have it fixed. Obviously something they did they at break masters made the emergency break go on and not work. I'm very disappointed. Break masters was a life saver for my car. They fixed my car with a new set of front breaks an alignment and fixed my tail light all within 2 hours. I was driving to do some errands when my breaks went bad and called break masters and they got my car in right away and had a great deal going on so I was happy with the prices. Always make sure to check for coupons online or with the ads in the paper. You definitely Save an extra hundred dollars not going to your dealership. The man at the front desk was excellent with the customer service and cracked a few jokes. It's always great to have that one person making you laugh in a stressful situation.
