I'm not a huge car guy, so am always a little apprehensive when visiting a new shop. The recommendation to visit Brakes for Less came from an Oil Change location in town that I've come to feel pretty good about. From the start, Joshua seemed friendly and up front. After confirming the caliper leak, he explained why it's recommended to replace both in tandem, and in a way that didn't seem like he was just up-selling. After discovering, the calipers were not available in red for the model of my son's car unless we wanted to pay more than double to order them directly from Subaru, Joshua offered other solutions, including purchasing dust covers and recommended finding them online. A shop that is not afraid to send some of your dollars somewhere else is a good sign to me. That being said, Joshua continued to try and track down what we were looking for and after a day or two, he called and said he had found a quality part in the color we were hoping to find. The parts cam in and the labor was completed exactly as Joshua said they would be. I appreciate all the openness and believe the prices are fair. Great service from a friendly, family owned and operated business! After a free inspection, Joe was very helpful with what my Prius needed, and it was not the brake job the shop who did my last oil change said was necessary. He did find a bad wheel bearing and even brought it out for me to inspect! I felt comfortable going ahead with the repair. He took the time to answer all my questions, and the new bearing has eliminated an annoying road noise that I had mistakenly attributed to tires. THANK YOU, JOE! This shop deserves all the five star ratings that they get. Not only are they knowledgeable and experienced, but they have the best customer service. Our brakes went out while we were on a road trip. When we went to the shop it was obvious from the number of vehicles in the parking lot that they were busy. However, they realized that we had few options for waiting so they did what they called NASCAR service and put three technicians on the wheels and finished the job in record time. It was amazing! Last August, I had requested to replaced 4 new brake pads. Just recently, I learned they had installed just two back brake pads. They billed me over $700 for just 2 brake pads. My front brake pads had been squealing since January. I had them looked at the brake pads and said "oh it just dirty". That did not work at all. I am from Portland and my family was on our usual camping trip a few weeks ago when we had a brake problem with our 1997 F350. Driving in to the mountains west of Bend the rear brake was binding, smoking, hot, and likely to catch fire. This was late Friday afternoon with our pickup full of humans, dogs, and camping gear. We turned around and headed back to Bend, our camping plans probably shot. The local Ford dealer was nice but was shutting down soon, a local guy suggested Brakes For Less. Long story short... came down to SunRiver from Seattle for a mini vacation. My brake indicator never squealed, so wasn't aware my brakes needed work. Started hearing some grinding and figured better have it checked out. Saw the 5 stars and called Brakes For Less. It was Friday, they had an appointment slot on Monday. We needed it back by Wednesday. These guys assessed the situation and replaced all four rotors, front and back, and all pads. I drive in a marine environment and up the mountains in snow and grit all year. The rotors were beat up. They had my truck done by 5 that day. Now comes the glowing review part. These guys were super friendly, fast and great price. I had a bit of work done and it would have cost me double back home. They showed me my beat up parts. Glad I got it done. Brakes for Less exceeded my expectations with their great service. I called and got a very reasonable quote and a next day appointment. They scheduled me for noon but said that uf I could drop off at 10:00 they might be able to bet it done earlier. I dropped my 2010 Toyota Tundra 4 Wheel Drive off at 10:00 and they completed a complete brake job, front and rear by noon and it cost exactly what they quoted. After reading reviews I thought I would give them a shot. Scheduled my appointment for about 5 days out. They looked over the brakes on my class C RV. Said they were fine. They Couldn't get them to squeak. With only 28K miles said probably good for another 30K. They didn't charge for test driving and inspecting. I was on vacation at Sunriver. After coming over the pass on the way in I heard metal on metal grinding on the rear passenger break. I went online looking for someone to service my vehicle before heading back. Brakes For Less had the best reviews so I gave them a call. Even though they were busy and down a mechanic they penciled me in for the next day. They checked out my brakes and told me I needed new rotors and pads on the rear wheels which I knew and that I still had 30 percent on from front brakes but that the rotors were a little warped. They said I could go a few months without replacing the front brakes, so I had them replace the rear. They were fast, friendly and honest about what needed to be done and did the work for a very reasonable price. From the first phone call; explaining everything in detail, ordering parts for my vehicle without hesitation, and scheduling in a timely manner. I was quoted less than half the dealership price, and then when they got in to do the actual work discovered that my rotors were in good shape and didn't just replace them anyways to make the extra money. This has to be the best auto repair experience I have had in a really long time. This family owned business is the benchmark for integrity and fair pricing. If you don't need it, they won't recommend it. We have been having an issue with vibrations in the front end when braking for 2 years. Have taken it to 2 other brake shops in other cities and they all said the pads were fine with no other recommendation other than a complete brake job. I went to Brakes for Less and told them to do a complete brake job because we were tired of being apprehensive every time we used the brakes in the mountains. They inspected the brakes, said we had more than 40% left on the pads and that turning the rotors would probably solve the problem. Now they work just like new and they only charged us for an hour of labor. I'd had estimates in the $600 range from one of the other shops. Send everyone you know here. Great honest place! They did the breaks on my sons car. Quick fast and fair priced. When I our car had break noise we brought it in. The called to let me know our brakes still had 40% left and that were missing a small part which is what generated the noise. They had a spare one and installed it at no charge. I called when my brakes started making a grinding noise (yes, I should have taken my car in MUCH sooner). I made an appointment to bring my car in two days later. I was expecting to spend $300+ since I had waited so long and had worn through the pads. I was pleased to pay less and it was done within 2 hours of dropping it off. They have good communication with customers and a really cute shop dog that looks mean (some sort of Pit) but minds its own business, doesn't bark or beg for attention. A late review for work done on work truck last summer: Major brake issue with F150- dealer down the street could get me in 6-8 weeks. Needed truck for job in 2-days. Called BFL, seen their commercials for years- loved seeing the dogs. On phone, they sounded generally concerned about getting me in as soon as possible (?!), so I'm thinking they're going to throw out next week as an option- ... ... "Can get in in 15min. before opening tomorrow morning?" ...although booked solid for day, they'd try to get me in. Took it in, thought I'd walked into their commercial, LOL! ... met/saw the brothers and the awesome office mascot. He recalled my time crunch, and sincerely said he'd do his best to get to it before closing... Called me at 9am, needed quite a bit of work beyond just pads, like bearings and other stuff, I go for it... I get a call back around 1pm- it's done???!! JEFF IS THE MAN. My poor car, Blanche is her name. Her rotors were totally messed up as well as her brake pads. I called him up and asked for an estimate and he quoted about $260. Pretty decently priced I'd say. I got all that done on my lunch break. Well it was a little over an hour, more like an hour and a half but that was still a lot to get done in that short amount of time. He even knocked off $50 because that's just the kind of guy he is.
