Could be that I just experienced the crew on a good day, and I know that sometimes turnover at these places is a regular occurrence, but my experience was phenomenal. I had to have my vehicle towed to them, because I had experienced a flat tire about 5 miles away, and in the process of removing my tire I sheared off one of my lug nuts. Initially they thought they weren't going to be able to help me out, but after diligently taking a look at the problem they realized it wasn't that complicated. Not only did they get it done quickly, but they coordinated with Discount Tire (while I was out of town, I might add) to get my vehicle transported over and I have my tires replaced. The only fee was $39.99, but since I was out of town I wasn't able to pay it. When I finally showed up to pay my bill, they simply gifted the charge to me, so I didn't pay anything. Horrible experience! The men there treated me like I was an idiot from the very beginning. I asked for an alignment and after they did it I told them I would like to drive it and make sure it was done right. They were extremely rude to me when I asked this and I will absolutely never go back there. My alignment is still not right and I am going to have to take it somewhere else and get it redone. Good service; I really liked how they will show you exactly what is wrong with your car. I have a 97 Chevy Cavalier and had to get my brakes redone. I feel like it was a little pricy; it ended up being around $350.00 for both front and rear brakes and a new drum. It took around four hours to complete but their service isn't that bad. I also like how you can get a six month financing plan; making life for a college student or a struggling family a lot easier on the wallet. I also liked how they had free wifi for costumers, free shuttle runs for people who need to go back to work and free inspection on the car. read more

My story is the dealer service reported I needed new front pads, so I went here with coupons. They carried out an inspection that claimed I needed $800 of other work. Shocks alignment etc. Got the pads done and took the extra work quote back to the dealer to complain that they had ripped me off on the service, they checked and said nothing needed, so I went to a local mechanic we know and asked him to check. All good agreed with the dealer, so watch out for unnecessary add ons, or better still go else where read more

We discovered a brake problem during an adventure trip to San Rafael Swell. Brakes Plus totally took care of us, and on a Saturday to boot. Had an 8 AM appointment for a wheel alignment. The gentlemen in front of me also had an 8AM appointment for a wheel alignment. They have one alignment machine. What is the point of making an appointment? This is a customer service failure. I left. I had the alignment done somewhere else. read more

Took my Kia Spectra in for my A/C to be checked out & belts tightened. I was told that I needed 2 belts replaced & how lucky I was that they didn't snap & cause more problems. Glenn & his crew were able to get me in the very next day & gave me new belts. The service tech said he fixed my power steering, too. I was pleasantly surprised to get into my car & the steering wheel turns like brand new again. Unknown to me previously, my car make, model & year required something different to normal power steering fluid. WARNING!!! What ever u do, do not go to Brakes Plus!! To start off, the service is terrible and they act like you are an idiot if you dare question them. Second, all they want from you is money and they will take advantage of the unknowledgeable by making up any lie they can to get it. I brought my car I because it was making a sound and it would shake really bad when I braked. I also asked if they could replace my serpentine, power steering and alternator belts, all of which I already provided for them. They came back and told me my rear brakes were completely shot and unusable. They said the shaking was caused by my front brakes doing all the work cause my rears weren't functional. This caused a bunch of heat and wear on my front brakes which ruined them as well. Against my better judgement and the recommendation from my parents, I didn't get a second opinion. Big mistake!!! $1,100 later and they say it's fixed. Wrong!!! All that money and my brakes are just as bad as when I brought my car in and I think they charged me full price for inferior parts. My experience only went down hill from there. I go to pick it up at the location and they left it in the parking lot with the keys under the floor mat. Because, apparently they can't have someone wait after closing to make sure I pick up my car ok. As soon as they finished the work and got payed they didn't care what happened to my car! So, as I get into my car to leave, it won't start. There's barely even enough juice to turn over. So, I have to get a jump start from my ride. Over the next several days I keep having problems with my car dying, so I return to Brakes Plus to see if they might know what's going on. The guy I talked to treated me like a complete idiot! He said there was no way they could of done anything to my car to make it keep dying. I brought up the fact that they changed my alternator belt; to which he replied "Changing the alternator belt wouldn't have any affect on the cars battery." Um, the alternator belt is what powers the alternator, which in turn, keeps your battery from being drained too quickly! I ended up leaving, feeling very mad and insulted and still no closer to resolving my cars issues. I went and got a new battery because my current one was now bad. That seemed to solve the problem A few months later my car started dying on me again. So much so, that I got stranded on the side of the rode for several hours until someone could come get me. I found out the my alternator was shot and I needed a new one. So, I bought a new one and installed it myself. Upon removing it I realized what my problem had been the whole time. Brakes Plus had lost my tensioner bolt for my alternator when they replaced the belt. Instead of replacing it or telling me, they just tightened the mounting bolt as much as they could and called it good. Without that tensioner bolt, my alternator became loose and was no longer getting power. It cost me another $250 dollars to fix the trouble their mistake caused and only $7 to replace the tensioner bolt they lost. Is that really how you treat local customers? Later I took my car to Motor City Alignment and had some work done. I asked the tech to look over Brakes Plus's work and bill and see what he thought. He told me as far as he could tell they ripped me off and the story about all my brakes being ruined and needing new ones was just a way to get more money out of me. I felt like a fool, but on the bright side, I found a mechanic I can trust! For anyone thinking of using Brakes Plus, I hope this review changes your mind and saves you from the thieving clutches of this soulless company and its immoral employees who gladly help their employer steal from any who cross their path!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Took my VW Jetta in to have emergency brake cable checked, also needed diagnostics for ABS light on as well as check engine light. I know the CEL was a code for a bad oxygen sensor. A couple hours later, they called to tell me the problem with emergency brakes was bad calipers ($535.00), bad ABS wire to right front ($280.00), bad catalytic convertor AND bad oxygen sensors-2- ($1680.00). Like a fool I believed what they were saying and had the calipers replaced. Brakes did not feel right when I released the emergency brakes but figured things were just "tight". 2 days later, drivers side brake would not release. Took car back and the mechanic initially said the only problem was ice behind front tire. I insisted they put car on lift and check brakes. Mechanic brought me into shop to show me the problem...emergency brake cable to right rear was shot! I was pissed and told him that is exactly why I had brought the car in to begin with!!! Seems to me that they had charged me $535.00 for nothing and never bothered to check what I had told them to. The shop manager scrambled to replace the emergency cable for free (parts and labor) this is a clear indication that they knew they had been busted tho the manager insisted the calipers sere bad. The ABS problem was a simple repair also. Do not trust these guys, they are rip off artists. Go to the dealer or a reputable mechanic, you will save money and get only what you need. Always get the old parts from any work. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT TRUST THESE THIEVES. read more
