Such a deceitful business lying to customers and laughing to their faces. Over the phone, the guy said $60 cash or $63 credit card. On their website, it shows a coupon of $25 off and I mentioned if that can be applied to the $60 I would pay for a smog check. He said it will be, therefore, I drove there to have my car's smog checked. Once I arrived there, I mentioned again if the final price would be $35 with the added coupon but he said that it will be $60 because the original price is $85. Piece of shit lied to me over the phone and I had to drive all the way there wasting my time and gas. Which business has smog checks at $85?! Such a shady business. I was a walk in just before 9AM today. The person running the shop was very nice. They let me know what they were doing and what things were being tested for my smog check. The shop worker made sure to give me a copy of my test as well as a results page. I was given a $25 off discount from mentioning the Yelp ad on the page. That was awesome. I think, otherwise, the smog check would have been around $70. As well as taking a general look over my car the worker also informed me of some gasket valve cover leaks. He got me a repair quote right away and I was able to take my car in immediately if I were available. Super awesome service here. I wish I had the same experience as the people who gave 5 star reviews. First, the positive, on Saturday morning, I was the only one there so there was no wait. Now the negatives, when I pulled up, I asked Alfred how much it was going to be for a STAR certified smog check. I just wanted an upfront answer so I can decide if it's too much. He joked around and said he would take care of me and directed me to park. I then asked him again how much it was going to be and he said 69.95, which I responded I have the Yelp $20 off coupon. Then he said, yes 69.95 with the coupon plus state fees because regular price is 89.95...wait a minute, did you not just say the price was 69.95. It suddenly jumped to 89.95 when I mentioned the coupon? Based on recent Yelp reviews, I was thinking it would be around $50 plus the state fees so that was upsetting. Especially since if he had confirmed that price earlier, I wouldn't have bothered parking. As I had already driven some time to get there, I decided to suck it up and get it done but I was upset at the price gouge. So, I looked for the prices in the shop. Lo and behold, it says 69.95 plus 8.25 for state certification. If there were any other fees like some transfer fee, they should list it on their price list so it's transparent. Instead when I go to pay, the bill said $68. Now how the heck did we get to this number I ask? And finally, he was like I can do it for $60. All I wanted was a clear price from the beginning. I don't want to complain or negotiate. Please just list your prices so people can choose to pay the amount that you are asking for and not waste anyone's time. I get it's COVID and times might be hard, so just list the higher price if you need to charge more so people can decide whether it's what they can afford. read more
