This spring (2024), Josh "refreshed" my kitchen (a mini-remodel), meticulously refinishing the cabinets (not an easy job when they're still in place) and installing the tile backsplashes himself. He coordinated with the specialists who created and installed the new cabinet doors, countertops, and flooring. During the process, he would double-check with me to see if the work met with my approval. He did all the "finish" work of reinstalling the sink, lights, and electrical plugs, and doing patchwork on the plaster where needed. He was prepared to paint, but that was something I chose to do myself. I am so pleased with the results. Josh was careful to prevent sanding dust from getting into the rest of the house, and tidied up after each day's work. He cheerfully accepted some change order tasks that popped up during the kitchen work, such as repairing my nearly 20 year-old on-demand water heater that started leaking. That job took a few tries, so he returned a couple of times when he had a moment to replace yet another aging O-ring. If his repair work didn't work, he was prepared to replace the water heater with a new unit as soon as he was able. Although a remodel is never cheap, I thought that Josh's price was more than fair, especially in these days of high inflation. I am sure there are other fine contractors in the area, but Josh's combination of excellent work, reliability, and positive attitude place him at the top of my list. I found Travis through the Yelp "My projects" section where I was trying to find a contractor to help us fix a leak in our guest bedroom. We couldn't find where the leak was coming from and I was trying to get price estimates from different contractors to solve the problem. Most of the contractors said they couldn't give a real estimate till they started doing the full project which seemed understandable. What stood out about Travis though is that he made the effort to say for $100 he would assess the issue by cutting out a piece of my drywall and give me a proper estimate. My fiancé and I were on board and happy to see someone take initiative like Travis. Travis then went on to find a pinhole leak in one of our old copper pipes and he right away gave us an estimate that was much more reasonable than other contractors we spoke with. Travis went on to fix our leaky pipes and found out that we replaced the wrong pipe. There was a pipe above the one we saw that was actually the cause of the leak. Travis messaged me and said that he would only charge for the additional pieces (no additional labor for his work), which was super generous and understanding of him. We got this repair done and out of the way in an efficient manner thanks to Travis' diligence. My fiance and I are now having Humboldt Renovation help us replace carpet in our house for "hardwood" vinyl, replacing our shower, and putting in a new dryer vent. I additionally want to add that I has also asked him to replace both of our garage door openers which we signed up to do and later on found out it was covered through our home warranty program. Even though I already signed for Travis to do the work, he was very understanding and let us get the repair done instead by our home warranty service. I was pleasantly surprised that the the owners of Humboldt Handyman responded to my email so quickly. I am thinking that all the handymen are quite busy after the earthquake. The owners came over to our house to assess the damage. The are professional and friendly. The following day they sent over a crew member who was very skilled, conscientious, and personable. He attached the bookcase to the wall quickly and confidently. I am very impressed with Humboldt Handyman. I will call them again if we have work for them. I enthusiastically recommend them!

I am on a disability income and am very vocal about my budget. He recommended a whole new gate. It was out of my price range. The thing is, he had agreed to repair my damaged fenced which was a smaller project. It seems as if it wasn't enough of a money making opportunity for him. He just never replied back after I had decided not to drop $2K on a new gate just to have a lock placed. He could have at least responded to say he couldn't provide the service that he initially said he would. Just straight up ghosted and not good on his word. I would not recommend, unless you are willing to pay through the nose.
