This public course has come a long way in the last year or so. As of 04/25 it is in surprisingly good shape. I've been playing this course for a few years now and the greens are in the best shape I've ever seen them. The fairways and all but maybe one or two tee boxes were also in pretty good shape! I thought the price was a good value for the course. Shop staff was very friendly and made us aware (before booking our tee time) that there was a fairly large group playing ahead of our twosome. Hey guys, I am breaking away from my usual restaurant motif to tell you about my golf round today. I'm going to be as balanced, fact based and non-bias as usual. I would like to start off by saying it's an absolutely beautiful course. The people in the pro shop were very nice and helpful. I feel the course is ran well and you can tell they are working on maintanence improvements. I do not recommend playing this course if you shoot over a 10 handycap. You will lose a bunch of balls and be frustrated most the round. This is not meant as a criticism. Its a precision and target play golf on almost every hole. Most holes are tight, and many have funky ( but fun) lay outs for more advanced players. Be sure to look at the course prior to coming. The fairways, greens and tee boxes were in great shape. The carts had a real nice GPS system that gave you precision location and distances, and can keep your score electronically. Very cool. I will go over what I consider the main issues we had while playing and why I am giving the the course a 2 out of 5 stars. Its a fair ranking considering the cost of the course with 3 holes (2 greens under repair) and the level of stress we were put under by the technology in the cart constantly "doorbell" ringing reminders and being asked to speed up by course ranger (he was nice and professional, but was wrong to ask us to speed up). My friends and I get together once a year to have some fun and relax. We are okay players, not precision players and have played hundreds of courses. We know good course conduct and pace rules. We were playing to a 3.5 hour pace (avg 11.3 minutes per hole) on hole 9 when the ranger showed up and asked us to speed up because we have 4 groups behind us. First of all, we were playing faster than standard pace, we should not have been asked to speed up. Secondly, the 2 groups behind us were "two-somes", who had not come up on us once in the first 8 holes. We were not slowing the course down, but sure felt like after the warning. The ranger was nice, but the situation made us play even faster, which created a not so fun time for us. I could tell my friends were stressed after being engaged by the ranger. The doorbell warning that rings during every hole to remind us about cart path rules was distracting and very irritating. The geofencing reminders makes the doorbell reminders unnecessary. The "rings" create a level of stress that makes the round feel rushed. As a thought, maybe have the doorbell ring when there is a water hole, bathroom coming up or if you are on hole 9, a reminder to call ahead and order food to speed up the turn. In summary, we ended the round in under 3.5 hours, we were unnecessarily rushed on a hard course for our level of play (but were keeping a better than average pace). We paid full price when 2 of the greens were under construction and we were not told. However, I do recommend this course for a better player. It's very nice, the staff was great and the GPS technologies are really cool. The group agreed we would like to come back and try it again now that we know what to expect. read more

I golfed at Brandywine last weekend. A very enjoyable two rounds of golf with friends. The back nine is more challenging than the front nine. They have a small pro shop. They have a small bar area the K club. Plenty of seating but sadly the service can be spotty and they don't offer breakfast options. The food was good but the poor bartender had to make drinks, bus tables & cook the food. The manager's solution was to just close the kitchen instead of helping out. I just paid $64 to play golf on a $25 course. My goodness for tea boxes were terrible on the Fairways you didn't know whether you were in the fairway or on the rough and the greens. Some of them were completely gone but nothing was maintained the ponds were terrible. It's just the whole course looked terrible It was just a bad experience all around..... $25. I would've been happy to pay .......but 64. Bucks?..... I felt robbed ......don't go there. read more

Greens are so bad they're almost unplayable. Shouldn't have to use my wedges on the greens to get over massive mud pits. Tee boxes are so uneven and full of holes it's hard to keep your balance. Never played on a course that bad. read more

Rider fees are not common practice, I play hip& down the east coast and this the only course where I pay a rider fee.

Course in rough shape. They were sanding the greens the day I played. It will be awhile before any true rolls on these greens. Rest of course needs work. read more

No maintenance in fairways. Greens with large sandy areas. No hot dogs at 1030. It has fallen far from 2 years ago. Would not return.

I was a bit apprehensive about playing the course, after reading several critical reviews. Nevertheless, I had a marvelous time playing 18 holes. I will admit that there were a few issues. Two of the holes currently have small, temporary greens, as the regular greens are being repalred. Unfortunately, the grass on these two greens is much thicker and slower than the regular greens. In addition, several of the regular greens still show a fair amount of sand. The fairways were in fine condition--mostly green and very playable. I found the course to be somewhat more challenging than some others in the area. There are quite a few holes with water hazards, which made things interesting (only lost one ball into the water), and some of the fairways are a bit narrow in spots, with forested areas on either side. All in all, I had a lot of fun and will be back again soon for another round--especially given the bargain rate of $29 for 18 holes after 1 PM. read more

If I could give it 1/4 of a star I would. I was set to play a round of 18 this afternoon and headed over early. When we got to the pro shop the round about was blocked off by a Cisco delivery truck. My wife didn't realize until after she entered the roundabout that she would have had to back up into traffic to get out so I suggested she pull onto the road that it turned into to make a u-turn. As we were completing the u-turn I could see the staff at the pro shop throwing their hands up in the air saying "what the hell are they doing?" This was our first time there and we didn't realize it wasn't for guest vehicles. We weren't putting anyone in danger and there wasn't anyone with 75 yards from our vehicle. As I was walking inside to check-in one of the men that threw his hands up quickly exited a different door as to avoid me. When I approached the woman behind the counter I quickly acknowledged that I watched the gestures being made from my vehicle and let her know that I wasn't pleased with their behavior. I explained to her that the road was blocked and we needed to get out and she responded by saying "you shouldn't have pulled in there in the first place." I responded by saying that the actions of the men were as if they thought we were idiots and she replied "well what you did WAS dangerous." I immediately canceled my tee time and informed her that we will never visit their establishment again. Needless to say I missed out on a day of golf on my vacation. Thanks Brandywine ****Update**** Please review the owners response below. Typical. Placing the blame on the customer when it was his staff that was responsible for me canceling my tee time. I can honestly say that this course is the worst course I have played in North Carolina (conditions wise). Fairways were long and overgrown with weeds and greens were scarred. I understand that it hasn't rained in a while but it shouldn't warrant these conditions. I payed $35 through golf now, hopefully no one pays more than that. read more

Had a tee time for 10:40! Rained last night so assumed could be cart paths only. When set up tee time my phone number was given. Did not receive a call in the morning. Drove the 30 minutes to the course to find out they closed due to rain. One would think they could let people know that ahead of time. Have not played in 10 years and will probably be another 10. Will keep weekly golf to Star Hill from now on. read more

The staff was really friendly, the course was fun and the rates for my 9 year old and I were great. We will definitely be back to play again

Don't waste your money. Greens are in bad shape. Fairways are Narrow and too much water. Weeds everywhere. Place needs some help.

Honestly my first time I have written a review on anything. TERRIBLE PLACE! Please dont disappoint yourself. I've been 5 or so times and it's either bad service, no cook when they were open for lunch and just gave it one more try because of the amazing hotdogs that I just found out they USED to have and I was served the smallest and cheapest ones you can get at Walmart... So disappointed in the place. Has potential to be great and busy but management/owner must be clueless... Train your people and be constant with your food, please! read more

I've had the pleasure of having lunch here at the K Club and not only are the portions generous, but the food tastes fantastic! Beautiful view overlooking the 18th green. Friendly staff with a casual atmosphere. I even bought a nice golf shirt in the pro shop. Wish I could've stayed long enough to play a round of golf! read more

Absolutely terrible service! Not even worth the one star I gave! We tried to book a tee time and were hung up on three times. Once we arrived the pro shop employee could not count or tell us any of the information for the day. He said we could not golf together as a family even though we are members and my parents flew down from Minnesota for some great North Carolina golf! We started our round and got chewed out by the ranger on the first hole about the cart path who proceeded to yell that we did not listen to the pro shop guy who said nothing about a cart path rule. He did not even check to see if the pro shop was informing golfers but proceeded to literally yell at us. I am so disappointed in the service we received and the employees who work here. I would caution anyone to pay for a membership or green fees at this course. The service alone is enough to ruin your day! I will be taking my family and membership to other courses in the future! I would not golf for free at this course and be treated the way we were treated on a family golf outing! Extremely disappointing! read more
