I went here with my boyfriend and his extended family - our group of 13 (ages across 3 generations) easily spent almost 2 hours here and we golfed pretty efficiently! This course was one of the most enjoyable and scenic courses I've ever had the pleasure of playing at. Many of these holes were creative and doable as well. And during one of the holes where there's a chance your putt putt ball can fall into the water, there's a grate to catch it. The prices are pretty great, at $14/person for the first round and only $6/person for the second round (for golf at least). The only thing we could really give feedback on was that the train was broken at the time, but they were communicative with us about it and it didn't affect how much we could play. We could still easily access the upper levels of the course just fine, and even our elderly players walked up the steps and slopes fine as well. Some of the "mineshaft" looking areas were pretty warm and stuffing (just a warning!), though. Overall, it's a really enjoyable and nice place to go to with groups. It's one of the larger activity-based attractions on the island, so depending on when you go, it can get quite busy. The ambiance was lively, though, and it drizzled a bit (I like a little rain). They also had go-kart raceways and water boats, too! We'll definitely be coming back to enjoy all the activities in its entirety :) read more

We were a group of nine that visited Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf and Raceway. Although this spot is a bit outdated, it's a good place for some family fun. We tried their go-karts, bumper boats, and 18 hole mini golf course. We go-karted first. I couldn't hear any of the instructions and had to come back to get a back seat to be able to drive better (I highly recommend getting the extra back cushion if you're on the shorter side). It's a very short course, so the laps get repetitive, but we still had fun. We tried the bumper boats next. I didn't enjoy this one as much because my boat's motor was broken and I couldn't move, so I got stuck in corners if people didn't bump me. I did enjoy spraying my family friends though. The mini-golf here is harder than it looks! We had a great time trying all the different courses. Some things felt in need of love or an update, but this didn't take away from the mini-golf experience. Overall, we had a fun evening here. read more

Enjoyed an evening of putt putt here on our beach vacation. It was a little pricey, $13pp. You take a train to get to hole 1, which was an interesting twist. This is such a fun place to spend an afternoon, and, easily drivable from many beaches in the area! There are 2 putt putt courses to choose from with exciting holes. The putt putt is a bit pricey ($16) each, but if you make a day of it, you can get some packages that are much more reasonable... and you get a train ride to the first hole! I also rode the go karts while at Professor Hackers. I would not recommend riding unless you have sunglasses! Rubber from the tires of cars in front out you will shoot back into your eyes which is not fun. Along with putting putt and go karts, they have bumper boats and gem mining, neither of which I did while visiting. read more

Such a fun mini golf experience. Loved the waterfalls and the general theme of the place. Holes could use a little extra pizzazz and variety and some of the greens were so waterlogged (and cups actually filled with water) that it got a little dank in spots, but I suppose it's part of the charm. Stopped here for a little fun as it's on the isle. They have lots to choose from and it's a fun atmosphere. They have two golf courses, the Diamond and the Gold. Both are fun and make for a great day in a beautiful place. Prices are a touch high for one round but if you play both courses it's 20 bucks per person so it's not too bad. As a group of 5 people (including a 4 year old), we tried all of the features available including ; mini-golf, go-carts, bumper boats and a water mining for gemstones. The golfing was as expected and well kept. The go carts were a huge hit with the 4 year old. The bumper boats were covered in pollen and we had to change boats twice because the first two weren't "charged". Not to mention, the water was a awful brownish-green color and there was a lot of debris at the bottom of the pool. The mining was expensive ($9 for a bag of sand that had approximately 10 gemstones) but enjoyable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would have reviewed higher but the bumper boats and the lack of options for a day pass to include all of the park options made for an expensive visit. I don't know if it was an off day but that sucked. We only go here so the kids can ride the cart up to the first hole and pay an extra $3 per person (compared to golfin dolphin" for it. That wasn't running. We go on the gold side and the water is shut down on that side. The cups were out of the holes including the last hole which is right in front of the employee hut. Also the bumper boat water was just gross. I'm sure we will try again at some point but if you want to spend less and have a great time head over the bridge to Cape Carteret. read more

Cool and unusual set up. We did the diamond course. I was completely unable to pass the last hole, despite averaging 2 on most previous holes. Take the mining train to the top, select which of the two courses to play, and slowly descend as you play 18 challenging (but do-able) holes, even in dimly-lit "caves" inside the "mountain." After playing one or both courses, try the Go-Carts, pan for gems or try the Bumper Boats. Great family fun for young and old alike. read more

We had a great time here. As I realized I was close to winning a competitive spirit arose and I trounced all competition. From Jacksonville it's a little drive but you pass restaurants, other fun activities, and you're close to the beach. The young staffers were pleasant and transport you to the first hole by train. If it's your first time (and your with kiddies) show them where the hole is because we lost a ball a few times due to someone being over zealous (no names but she's a tween...drama and tears...then laughing even when she lost). The bathrooms are old and hot but reasonably clean. Go before you start they are behind the ticket counter. read more

A little train car will take you to the top to do the course which was really cute and a nice touch. They have two different courses: diamond and gold. We did the gold but didn't realize there were two courses until we were well into our gold course. The diamond one looked better and more challenging. I wish they would've told us we had two options! Either way, this place was fun. We would've done the bumper boats but when we saw people coming out of there they were soaked and we didn't have bathing suits or a change of clothes. read more

This is a fun place to send the day. I would recommend the all day pass. It is $26 and it last from open to 5pm. If you like go-carts, I would recommend carts 5 and 14. They seemed to be the fastest. If you like shade, the diamond course has more shade than gold. They are both challenging and I recommend playing both. read more

Our teenage son picked out this location when we were looking for something to do when taking a break from the beach. We played the "Gold" course one evening. It was a fun, simple course with a few surprises - the "multiple option" holes. We liked the shade and tunnels that gave us a break from the sun. All of us enjoyed ourselves and a little friendly, family competition. We had several holes-in-one, although unfortunately for us none of them were the "mystery hole" for the day. Be sure you ask about it when you're done for a free game! Definitely recommend when you are in Atlantic Beach! Next time we're in town we'll be back to try the "Diamond" course. read more

We thank them for being open during this time so that we are able to get outdoors. That being said the golfing is not a very fun course, has many spots that take you off course. The go karts can be very fun, unless you get one of the very very slow ones. Because then you can't even catch up to your group. The staff was not very personable or interactive. A fun place to go and spend time with your friends and loved ones. There are two putt-putt courses to choose. Either way, you have to get on the mini-train to arrive at the beginning of your course. Overall, fun times! However, you might feel a little pressured to finish a specific hole when you have another party behind you waiting to start. Basically, you gotta shut up and just play. We decided to try this place out to enjoy some family fun. When we first got there, we decided to try the go-karts first. They were a lot of fun, the staff was really nice and the "ride" lasted a long time. Compared to the amount of money we spent, we had a lot of fun. We went over to the mini golf side and when we saw the prices, we decided against it. It was very pricey regardless if a tram ride is included or not, especially when you have smaller children with you. For my family of 4, it would have cost over $30 to pay one game of mini-golf which is a lot after already spending $23 to go on the go-karts. I was extremely disappointed that they didn't offer a package if you utilized more than one activity or even a discount. The grounds were clean and decently kept but now I see how....with all the money they seem to be making off of their customers. read more

The mini golf is great fun for the whole family. Played the gold course and found plenty of cave holes for a hot day. Kids loved riding the train to the first hole. Get a hole in one on the mystery hole and you can win a free round of golf or a free goKart ride. Good thing too because the GoKarting is way too expensive. $9 for 9 minutes of Karting (I timed it) is not a great deal. Unless you have a free ticket I would recommend you pass on the karting. I was surprised at how much time the three attendants spent looking at their phones while we were karting because their were so many safety instructions before we started. The recorded instructions made you believe that safety was important but the actions employees told a different story. read more

While this gold course was an ok experience, it did have a lot of set backs. I do appreciate the staff wiping down the golf clubs before you are handed a golf club, but they are not abiding by social distancing laws nor are people required to wear a mask. I felt very uncomfortable and at risk. The lights in the caves were flickering, and the trash smelled horrible. It seemed as if they were low staff. Even though other entertainments are offered here, all I can speak of is the golf. When the rain chased us out we had not tried the boats or carts. I took three kids aged 19, 16 and 12. All three had a great time. We went on the gold course. The upkeep seemed good. The place appears to have a little age on it but it seems to be in good repair. (There was a crew there at the time working on benches) It took about an hour to make it through 18 holes. Some were more challenging than others but all were enough to make it entertaining. The only reason I didn't give them five stars was the kid working the kiosk where you get the clubs and balls seemed utterly annoyed with being bothered. But overall that was not enough to dampen the fun! If it hadn't been for poor weather we would have stayed longer. I plan to come back on another trip to Emerald Isle later... read more

I went to Professor Hacker's tonight with my boyfriend and his young nieces. The lady at the ticket counter was so kind and very patient with our little ones' questions. We went for the go carts, and unfortunately it was not worth the expense. The young boys working the carts did not check our seat belts and didn't seem to care when our cart was considerably slower than the rest. I was lapped twice in my double cart by majority of the riders. I feel the company may need to focus on maintaining the carts to run cohesively and operate at similar speeds. read more

This is a review of the mini golf only. We were a family of seven age 19 thru 70 and we all had a BLAST! Took our large family almost two hours to complete the course. Lots of stuff to look at... Waterfalls, "rivers", bridges, tunnels (tunnels get very hot and stuffy). We didn't have any wait time going through at 7:30pm on a Tuesday but it seemed like everyone behind us was waiting. This place is great, we played the "Gold" course (they have 2), followed by Go-Carts and Bumper Boats. Our 7 and 4 year boys had an absolute blast. I don't know what would prompt anyone to rate it under 4 stars unless you have unrealistic expectations or are bothered by the excessive heat, which isn't anyone's fault. Our first outing during Spr Break. Not bad for the price with a family of four ($54). Only kids rode race cars. We all played minature golf. The ride to top was ok but the carts a lil out dated on a train mode of transportation. Kids had fun on both putt-putt course and race car driving.
