My bf loves this place probably a bit more than I do. I do really like this place tho- huge selection knowledgeable staff. You will find just about anything you are looking for here! The owners Andy and Louie are a funny team, they have alot of regulars and quite a few people that work there they seem to really like what they do there. This place is a ripoff...most prices are higher than elsewhere, especially on beer. The selection is below average and to top things off the owner is a rude asshole as he was yelling at patrons in the store. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on as I do not need a side of attitude when Im shopping for drinks. read more

Called asking about a bottle of bourbon for my bosses just seeing if they have it. Guy on the phone yelled at me and said " we have lots of bourbon you'll have to come in" and be hung up on me!! Wow! I've always had a great experience here. I can't speak much to the pricing as I personally have never noticed anything outrageously priced - but I'm a pretty easy person to please. The owners and staff are all very considerate. I stop in enough now they know to recommend a new gluten free beer they think I might be interested in which always makes me feel really valued as a customer. They have a punch-card for 6-packs too. Buy 10 and you get a discount on your 11th. They've got a huge range of options and I'm pretty sure anyone could walk in, and walk out with something they're excited to try. They're not the overly chatty sort who follow you around the store to make recommendations - but that is how I like it. If you ask for help, they'll happily help you and share some recommendations with you. They are especially great with highlighting local, Michigan brews and spirits. read more

This place has it all, if you're looking for imbibables. It's probably the most stocked corner liquor store I've ever been to. Cavernous shelves of wine, a refrigerated beer cave and shelf upon shelf of liquors from gin to rum, liqueurs and aperitifs, and did I mention wine. The employees don't wear masks so yeah what a bunch of self centered narcissists. I am from out of town called to ask if they had product. They seemed annoyed and told me to come in. So I walked 2 miles from hotel. No they didn't have what I was looking for. Since I already wasted my time walking there I bought 2 six packs that later turned out to be the shittiest beer I have ever had for $40. Talk about alcohol abuse I poured it down the drain after one sip. Manager owner type person is a real treat, was screaming at his stocker the whole time...no way I will ever go back. One of the best stocked liquor stores anywhere. Small footprint, large selection. They know their customers. If you have something you're looking for, they probably have it. If they don't, they'll try to find it. Once they do, they will recognize you if you come back and ask if you would like more. They treat you like you treat them. If you get treated like a jerk..... great store. Total Wine is the size of Costco but this place almost certainly has more variety, not as many bottles but more variety. Hard liquor and beer is the specialty, wine much less so. read more

One of the best liquor boutiques I've ever seen in Michigan. Amazing selection of spirits, especially bourbon and cognac; lots of unusual and hard to find brands. Excellent for gifts for the hard-to-buy-for connoisseur in your life, and the friendly staff will be happy to lend a hand in helping you select the perfect bottle. Great selection of beer as well - but the wine selection is fairly small and uninspired, so plan a second stop if you need to stock up on wine. All in all, an unexpected gem that you'd never guess from the exterior or location. read more

They have several allocated & hard to find bottles but gauge to the point you'd think your buying unicorn tears. Staff greeted me upon entering with smiles but service quickly went downhill. I live in the North Woodward corridor where we have quite a few lovely stores for the purchase of alcoholic beverages, but a dear friend who I've known and worked with at a Beaumont Hospital for over thirty years suggested I visit the Brass Mug to 'check out their massive selections'. My friend is a bourbon fanatic while I am a lover of the Irish whiskies which are not frequently seen in North America. Every time I've visited The Brass Mug since my first visit, I have found new treasures which draw me back on a regular basis. While available in Michigan, I was able to purchase Prichard's Tennessee Whiskey, Double-barrel Bourbon, and Single Malt Whiskey, which puts many distilled-in-Ireland Irish whiskies to shame! While there earlier this week to pick up a special-ordered Writers' Tears two wood Irish Whiskey (a blend of single malt and single pot still Irish-oh, my!), I found three new Galway Irish whiskey selections. As the State of Michigan controls pricing on whiskies, it is NOT the pricing of the products sold there but the availability of products not commonly found elsewhere. The Brass Mug in Livonia is right up there on my 'favorite liquor stores in the US', along with Ace Spirits in Hopkins, MN, Binnie's in the Chicago area, Total Wines and More in the southern states, and ABC Wines and Liquors in Florida. read more

They have an amazing stock of Scotch, bourbon, cognac, Irish whiskey, Japanese whiskey, tequila, rum, vodka, mixers, and just about anything else you could hope to find (also a great beer and wine selection). The owners are personable and very knowledgeable - if you can articulate what you like about a given drink, they can recommend 3 others that you'll like more. Highly recommended. read more

I will admit this store has a very large selection of beer and liquor. To that point I have stopped in to grab some off the wall beer for this area of the country from time to time. I have noticed that consistently the less popular beer has significant amounts of dust on the bottles. I am a bit leery about the age of these beers. When paying a premium the last thing I want is a bad beer. I think some I have tried were on the edge. My major concern is with a single experience I had during this winter that showed that this business does NOT care about your safety or well being one bit! I went in on a Friday evening after work to get some beer. As I was making my selection I overheard a customer come in and mention to the gentlemen behind the counter that there was an issue with Ice outside in front of the store. Their response is what bothered me. I heard a man behind the counter say "I hope someone slips and falls and then they can sue Dominic". I am not sure who Dominic is. I am assuming he is responsible for salting the sidewalks in some way. Maybe he is the owner of the strip mall there? I have no idea. After I purchased my goods and left I soon found out what they meant by the ice problem. I slipped off the sidewalk all the way down to the pavement. Luckily I was able to keep my balance and did not fall. Someone could fall and it could have been very bad, especially if falling on the corner of the sidewalk. The workers inside actively chose not to do anything about the ice. In fact they said that they hope YOU fall and hurt yourself so bad that you need to sue someone over it. Instead of spending less that $20 on salt and fixing it themselves. Fixing a patch of ice DIRECTLY in front of THEIR door where THEIR customers pass through. I will NOT support a business that has this type of attitude towards the community that supports it. I will make sure my co-workers,family and friends do not go here and I hope after reading this post you will not go here either. read more

Amazing liquor store with stuff you can't find anywhere else - I mean, if no one else has it, check this place. Beer, wine and spirits, sure - and great selection - but shochu and sake you can't find anywhere, pastis - pastis! I've started drinking pastis because of this place - a great range of bourbons, ryes and other spirits. Hands down great liquor store. Do yourself a favor and stop in - bring $100. read more

This store has a lot of choice. Racks and racks of wines. Great selection for liquor. Two separate walk in coolers, one for craft brews one for domestics. Defiantly an old building and a little dingy inside, but personally I prefer selection over ambiance. read more

Don't trust this store's prices. The management deliberately stores premium beers until they are sold out everywhere, then puts them on the shelf at 50% higher prices. Total rip-off, and probably illegal. read more
