To be a chain, Ovation Bistro in Davenport FL looks like a good time. Our server was Alex and she was doing everything by herself. Tending bar, serving and busing tables. She was a whirlwind. It is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. You enter through the covered patio area, which on a florida day when it was 97 outside it felt cooler on the patio. We ate inside. When you enter, the bar is to the left and the dining area is on the right. There are both booths and tables in the dining area. And high tops in the bar, besides the bar stool. Ordered a craft beer from 3 Sisters in St. Pete. It was good. For lunch we had the sirloin lunch special and brisket wedge salad. The food was not good. It was bad. And in their defense, maybe they were having an off day or maybe their lunch specials are left overs. The brisket was dry and way past it's prime. I sent it back and they brought me back more dry brisket which I guess they soaked in something, but you could tell it was way over cooked and past it's prime. The sirloin steak was not much better and the mash potatoes were at best luke warm. This was very disappointing. Especially after seeing some of the reviews. Suffice to say, this outing was definitely a one star for the food and four stars for the service along with the ambiance. I hate to hurl insults, but whoever is in their kitchen has either lost their passion or they just don't care. Best part of the meal was the wedge salad which was deliscious. The manager did come talk to us and did not charge us. The experience was still disappointing. My expectation did not meet my experience at Ovation Bistro in Davenport Florida.

I think they are trying to be more of a restaurant, but let's face it... Davenport's Sports Bar is a dive bar with the lights turned all the way up. Seems like industrial style lighting on a manufacturing scale. The food is okay. It is bar food. Did I mention how bad the service is? There were 5 servers including the bartender, couldn't figure out if there was a manager, but I got the impression that they are just disorganized. The BEER: 1845 Shape Shifring Lizard IPA 6.3% ABV... OMG, this IPA is slightly juicy and well balanced. 1845 We Wants the Red Head red ale 5% ABV... this red ale is an all day Irish Red. Delicious. 1845 Drop the Puck imperial hazy IPA 9.8% ABV... so very good, juicy and sneaky, because 2 or 3 of these and you will be Ubering home. 1845 Secret Stash imperial Stout 10% ABV... like coffee, semi sweet dark chocolate and a hint of peanut butter. This is a better version of Sweet Baby Jesus, if you are familiar. FIRE!!!! And I found out why the draft here is exceptional. Their brewer is Florida Ave out of Tampa.
