Palate cleanser with cod, soup (cucumber, tomato, with jalapeños oil), cheese bread pieces
    Urszula P.

I was lucky to learn about this place from a local foodie on a flight. I had a reservation but I didn't realize it was a tasting menu. We decided on the "full monty" (9 course tasting menu) and it is worth it. The staff is very attentive and knows every detail of every dish. They will customize the menu based on your desires and allergies. + Palate cleanser with cod, soup (cucumber, tomato, with jalapeños oil), cheese bread pieces 1)Herring with green tomato, radish, cream 2)Smoked ox heart with Tatar 3)Consume tomato with bacon in juniper 4)mussels with mustard cream & shallot/onion // mom: broccoli with cream and cucumber 5 chimmichurri with carrot (whole & diced) & onion 6 Smoked salmon on salmon filet with cream, radishes, spinach 7 Lamb with 24hrs pickled lemon artichoke hearts and sheeps yogurt 8 Sweet breads with sweet bread cream, caramelized onion, + pre-dessert: Peach, sorbet, goat cheese 9 panacotta with cherries// cheese plate with local syrup

By far one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Not only were the prices super reasonable but the quality of food was perfection. Chef loves to play with fermented foods so it was interesting to see what we get each course (not sour at all). Our waitress was super nice and explained the courses. It's a set menu! So you cant choose what you want, everything comes the same depending if you want the 3, 4, or 5 course meal.

Prix fixe lunch for 2. We sat outside since it was a nice day, and I think that was the problem! The service was extremely slow and it seemed like they had forgotten about us. The wait time between courses was way too long. The amuse bouche was good, the salad was pretty basic, the lamb was decent, and fish was simple yet delicious. The best part were the desserts! Overall an average experience and I found this place to be overhyped and the subpar service dampened the full Michelin-star experience.

Loved this restaurant! We came for lunch without a reservation and they were still able to accommodate us. We had the 3-course lunch tasting and it was quite lovely. Good service on a beautiful day in Amsterdam. We were in a rush to head to the airport, so they were able to speed up the service for us so we could finish up in just over one hour. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Picked this place to be my lunch adventure. The restaurant offers one-hour lunch service, and you can make a reservation online. The issue for me was that they could not make it for one person, so I selected two guests and added in notes that it is for one. My lunch was a four-course surprise menu. I am not a fan of the idea; I enjoy to know what I am going to be served even if I can not make a selection. First, two courses were delightful, but my main course was Mexican inspired steak covered in some Mexican sauce. The only cuisine I don't care for I got it here served as my lunch. I was intrigued in the beginning, but after the main course, I felt disappointed. I have been at the sister restaurant Guts & Glory, but this season they also gave Central American menu. I told waitress I don't care for the steak (after giving it a fair chance) I was ready to leave, but I was served substitute course - pork belly in hoisin sauce. The desert was fantastic! Chocolate ice cream with the beetroot foam and the raspberry jam. After all, this is a good dining experience and if you are nearby to check it out, but make sure you list everything you do and do not like before committing to the surprise menu here Service was polite and timely.

Ribeye steak - my favorite course

Excellent meal! We had the five course dinner at a table along the canal. Our server asked us what foods we didn't like and and one plate was adjusted accordingly. Every plate was well thought out and delicious. It is difficult to say, but the ribeye steak was probably my favorite. I look forward to eating here again.

Tofu Lettuce cup :/ ....not what I expect to eat at a highly regarded French restaurant

Service was really good. Food was not bad, but for me was basic for being so highly recommend as fine dining.... the lamb was over cooked and didn't pair nicely maybe we went on the wrong day :(

Broad, delicious, meticulously executed 7 course for €70 tasting menu. Well done and great value.

What a find. I love this restaurant. Great value. Great food. Great beer and very reasonably priced wines by the glass from Italy and beyond. In fact, their tasting menu is exceptionally good. The 7 course for 70 Euro pp is the best we have had in Amsterdam thus far. Thanks Breda. We will be back.

My two friends and I were able to snag a last min reservation at the bar on a Friday night and boy am I glad it worked out. Conceptually, Breda presents you with a menu that has a list of items on it but, no dishes. You're basically at the liberty of the kitchen, what's seasonal and it's amazing. You'll see by my photos below that the food presentation is really beautiful and well thought out. There were seven courses in total and my absolute favorite was the guinea fowl. What the heck is guinea fowl!? I'll tell you it's amazing and eats like a chicken/duck hybrid. Brilliant. I also really enjoyed the scallop dish and "first potatoes of the season." The meal was spaced out perfectly and progressed nicely so that you never felt too full. Great service, great wine list. Make a reservation because we got really lucky.

    Lyla Y.

No a la carte menu's. But you get to choose how many courses you want of their own tasting menu. We've read some really good reviews about Breda, but unfortunately the week we went did slightly disappoint. We took the medium menu which I believe was 5 courses for 64.50 euro's per person. The taste in most of the dishes had the same sauce base and after sometime frankly I was just sick of the same flavours. I guess using the same sauce base is cost efficient. The only thing that I wasn't sick of was their onion amuses. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. If I am very honest I just felt nauseous after the long dine and wine. And I wasn't the only one. Service was okay, the host seemed a bit lost at times. But the waiters did a fine job. Perhaps better luck next time?

Nice place, great food and good service! We had the 5 menu corse plus wine selection and was wonderful, tasty, and surprisingly all the time.

Top Notch Breakfast and Dinner…read more.. Brasserie is the restaurant inside the Ambassade Hotel. My wife and I...along with another couple...had 4 breakfasts and 1 dinner there so this review reflects our experience. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 (for Old Town and the Jordaan) - Exterior: 5 - Interior: 5 - Atmosphere: 5 - Menu: 5 - Food: 5 - Service: 5 (though the head waiter at dinner was full-of-himself) - Price and Value: 5 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the Old Town and Jordaan parts of Amsterdam. - Exterior: Handsome. A beautifully restored and maintained property. - Interior: Contemporary. Brasserie is a high end spot across 3 rooms, yet remains comfortable where conversation is easily accomplished. - Menu: Very healthy buffet at breakfast plus some items which can be ordered. Dinner offers French fare with a relatively light touch...though very different from the wellness-oriented breakfast. - Food: Excellent. The breakfast buffet is not huge, but full of healthy high quality items. I had 3 unbelievable versions of granola spooned from large jars and covered my bowl with the best tasting light Greek yogurt. Fruit and fish was super fresh...bread and pastries baked on premises amazing. Others in our group chose made-to-order egg dishes. It's all part of staying at the hotel. Dinner transformed Brasserie into a bistro with a French twist on many favorite dishes. Check the menu online. Portions are small - as expected - but quality was high. However, prices were very reasonable with most items under $30. - Service: Homey at breakfast..."French" for dinner. Everyone could not have been more friendly and helpful in the morning. Things were a bit more formal at night with a different crew. The chief waiter was very knowledgeable, but we agreed a bit arrogant. - Price and Value: Worth it. I believe the breakfast buffet is only for guests of the Ambassade Hotel. Brasserie is open to the public at night and quite reasonable. - Parking: None. Who has a car in Old Town? Cons: - The only one readily apparent was the brusque, off-the-cuff nature of our main server at dinner. He wasn't over-the-top, but not in keeping with the friendly vibe of the hotel. And that's coming from 2 couples who grew up in New York City and lived for many years in San Francisco and LA. Anyone can...and should...get dinner at Brasserie. There are many reasons to make reservations for a stay at the Ambassade - including access to their breakfast buffet.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!
