It's truly a shame that Yelp limits us to just 5 stars! We decided to try one of the highest rated restaurants in Amsterdam. The high rating was absolutely not a typo... it was well deserved. Our dinner was amazingly delicious, the staff was so friendly and attentive! A truly marvelous dining experience!

Amazing from start to end. Initially was a bit turned off by the policy to pay a fee to hold our reservation. After experiencing the restaurant, the food, hospitality and stellar service, it all washed away. This was a truly memorable meal. I can't recommend Zaza's enough!

We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Zaza's replete with all manner of beautifully plated deliciousness, including a delicate and tasty amuse bouche, excellent bread with an aubergine dipping sauce, a gorgeous tuna tempura dish with wasabi mayo, and perhaps 6 martinis (each), I can't remember. What I can remember, is that Zaza's is staffed by the NICEST PEOPLE EVER. Of course, they are attentive, knowledgable about their menu, and as courteous as can be. But they also go above and beyond. For instance: The table next to us was headed to the airport after their dinner, and as out-of-towners, they were extremely concerned they were going to get ripped off by the cab driver. The lovely waitress promised she would not let that happen. True to her word, she actually ran out when the cab arrived and had a lengthy conversation with the driver, presumably guaranteeing a good rate for the couple. I don't know if it was necessary, but she didn't have to do that. Also, on the dessert menu, there is a complimentary "Ab-Fab" memory of your evening. SPOILER ALERT: They take a picture of you and print it out. A truly thoughtful touch that was much appreciated, even if I looked stoned in the picture. I wasn't. Seriously, I wasn't.

This place is fantastic, from the time you make a reservation on line to the time you leave the restaurant. IWhen I made the reservation, I mentioned that it is my husband's birthday and they had balloons and decorated wine glasses waiting for us on the table, in addition a special amuse bouche place in a cute birthday box. The food is outstanding, the chef combines French gastrique techniques with fresh ingredients, this makes every dish special. The scallop appetizer is divine, tuna tempura starter is fresh and delicious, bread served with mint aioli is extremely light with a crispy crust. For main courses duck with a berry hazelnut sauce cooked to perfection and the sea bass served in a delicious white sauce. Dessert bread and butter pudding served with a white and dark chocolate sauce. A must try in Amsterdam.

They offer free a small sample-5 star

From the google review, it's one of top two restaurants in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I wouldn't agree with the google reviews, but their food are still good and fun but I expected more from them.

A cute, little French restaurant in Amsterdam! Definitely a must! We randomly stumbled in here walking up and down the streets, and we're so glad that we did! First of all, the service is amazingggg! Absolutely superb! They took the time to explain each dish, make recommendations, and just chat with us! Super friendly here! Meal started with an amuse-bouche that was delightfully presented. Then, our appetizers & entrees came out. Food: -STEAK TARTARE · €9.50 - with Grilled Brioche, Celeriac Chips and Balsamic Mayonnaise - the steak tartare was fresh and delectable! really enjoyed this dish! -TUNA TEMPURA · €11.50 - filled with Cucumber and Marinated Ginger with Wasabi Mayonnaise and Soy and Sesame Dipping Sauce - serve like sushi rolls; I really liked the sauce! overall, great dish! -PAN FRIED SCALLOPS · €11.50 - with a Fennel Tart and Tarragon Beurre Blanc - mmm, so fresh! My friends ordered: -JUMBO PRAWNS IN KATAIFI · €22.50 - with Saffron Risotto, Cherry Tomatoes, Petis Pois and Fennel Foa - beautifully presented, decent portion! -CHAR GRILLED RIB EYE · €24.50 - with Homemade Fries, a Parmesan filled Onion, Red Wine Jus and Horseradish Cream - the onion was really unique!

After reading some great reviews of Zaza's, I couldn't resist for not checking it out! And yes, all the reviews are truly great, because Zaza provides really delicious food and great service. All the tables were reserved and luckily I was on time to reserve the last table! When I entered the restaurant, it looked very cozy but also trendy. We ordered for starters delicious coquilles and crispy gamba's with tasty risotto! For main course we have chosen for rib-eye with home-made fries and beef with mashed potatoes and filled mushrooms. Before we received our appetizer we even got a free appetizer and fresh warm bread with delicious sauce before your appetizer! ;) This is what I mean: awesome! The service was very friendly and asked us many times whether we liked the food. We definitely said: YES! There are even oysters on the menu and cocktails! I haven't tried these yet, but I will be back for sure some time soon ;)

Top Notch Breakfast and Dinner…read more.. Brasserie is the restaurant inside the Ambassade Hotel. My wife and I...along with another couple...had 4 breakfasts and 1 dinner there so this review reflects our experience. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 (for Old Town and the Jordaan) - Exterior: 5 - Interior: 5 - Atmosphere: 5 - Menu: 5 - Food: 5 - Service: 5 (though the head waiter at dinner was full-of-himself) - Price and Value: 5 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the Old Town and Jordaan parts of Amsterdam. - Exterior: Handsome. A beautifully restored and maintained property. - Interior: Contemporary. Brasserie is a high end spot across 3 rooms, yet remains comfortable where conversation is easily accomplished. - Menu: Very healthy buffet at breakfast plus some items which can be ordered. Dinner offers French fare with a relatively light touch...though very different from the wellness-oriented breakfast. - Food: Excellent. The breakfast buffet is not huge, but full of healthy high quality items. I had 3 unbelievable versions of granola spooned from large jars and covered my bowl with the best tasting light Greek yogurt. Fruit and fish was super fresh...bread and pastries baked on premises amazing. Others in our group chose made-to-order egg dishes. It's all part of staying at the hotel. Dinner transformed Brasserie into a bistro with a French twist on many favorite dishes. Check the menu online. Portions are small - as expected - but quality was high. However, prices were very reasonable with most items under $30. - Service: Homey at breakfast..."French" for dinner. Everyone could not have been more friendly and helpful in the morning. Things were a bit more formal at night with a different crew. The chief waiter was very knowledgeable, but we agreed a bit arrogant. - Price and Value: Worth it. I believe the breakfast buffet is only for guests of the Ambassade Hotel. Brasserie is open to the public at night and quite reasonable. - Parking: None. Who has a car in Old Town? Cons: - The only one readily apparent was the brusque, off-the-cuff nature of our main server at dinner. He wasn't over-the-top, but not in keeping with the friendly vibe of the hotel. And that's coming from 2 couples who grew up in New York City and lived for many years in San Francisco and LA. Anyone can...and should...get dinner at Brasserie. There are many reasons to make reservations for a stay at the Ambassade - including access to their breakfast buffet.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

We sat on the patio. Our server brought us complementary bread with butter while we read through the menu. I'm told my meal was authentic Dutch food, but it just seemed like a strange combination. The name slipped my mind, but it was a pile of mashed potatoes with endive, with a meatball on top with brown gravy and then beside that with some type of smoked sausage with a pile of mustard. I've always felt that whatever food you put on a plate should taste good together sausage with the mustard with the meat and the gravy and the mashed potatoes just seem disjointed to me. With that sad, I ate every drop of it and enjoyed it so maybe I learned something from this meal. ‍ My son took the alternative approach and ordered a meal with Indonesian flavors; chicken with peanut sauce was the main entrée and it came with french fries. He definitely enjoyed his meal as well. I'm glad we gave VS a try. It turned out to be a good meal of Dutch food in a touristy area with food from all over the world. I guess I'm old-fashioned because I just wanted a taste of the local cuisine. Cheers!
