My fiancée and I scheduled a consultation with Bratton & Razo after an ex parte was filed against her. She is a young mother who had just had her child taken away, so this was already an incredibly stressful and emotional time for us. We paid $200 for a one-hour consultation, while most other family law offices we contacted offered free consultations. Unfortunately, that hour was not used wisely. He started off talking about food and other random topics during time we were literally paying for. When we finally got into the details of her case -- including serious allegations of abuse -- instead of listening and offering guidance, he spent the majority of the consultation attacking her. He repeatedly told her that everything she did was wrong and made it feel like he was siding with the opposing party during her own consultation. At one point, he even told her to "grow up." You do not tell a young mother in distress to grow up when her child has just been taken away. It was insensitive, arrogant, and completely lacking empathy. He made the situation sound hopeless, saying it could be an uphill battle that might take up to two years. We left feeling defeated and discouraged. Thankfully, we chose to retain another attorney who offered a free consultation, charged about half the retainer, treated her with compassion, and stood by her side from day one. That attorney won our case at the first full hearing. Everything Bratton implied would be a major issue never even came up. This review reflects our experience during the consultation only. We did not move forward with his services, and we are grateful we didn't. Biggest mistake of my life aside from the father of my child! 14k in the hole over a simple custody case, that after finding out I could of done it all on my own. Hired a female lawyer from here because she was recommended it one of my friends so I trusted. Overall, I just wanted to establish 5050 custody and the ability to vacation with my child. I ended up with 5050 plus having to pay child support to the father of my childt, even after she saw his coercive and manipulative behavior and I had evidence that his lawyer advised hin to stop working. I thought Michael Razo would have been a great match for my custody case, based on AVVO reviews I read, because they were very similar to my nightmare, but he was not. I paid a $200 consult fee for him to tell me he wouldn't take my case because it was a mess, he doesn't deal with juvenile dependency (mine was over), and it would cost too much to litigate. And I am going to have a long battle. It's very discouraging when you believe an attorney can definitely help you based off very similar reviews to find out the reality is the exact opposite. I think this attorney should discuss more of his potential client's details through the intake person, because I told them all this info days prior to our consult, so I didn't have to waste $200 for an hour consult that ended in 30 minutes. My very long divorce/custody court battle began in December 2016. I hired a basic attorney and she wasn't in it for me and my children. She was in it for the money. Ideally two parents should figure out what's best for their children but when that seems impossible because one side simply wants to fight...trust that there will be a fight. You hear a lot of horror stories about divorce.  The fighting, the heartache, your kids hurting and you hurting for them... It's all awful.  My experience was no different.  I have a particularly difficult ex wife who is very manipulative and methodical in the way she handled me, the kids and the divorce. She was emotionally and physically abusive in our marriage and blamed me for all of it.  She used my job and work schedule against me to try and claim that I was unable to have the kids because my schedule wasn't good for them. I work 12 hour shifts at night, 3-4 nights a week and have flexibility in what days of the week that I work.  I have plenty of time off to spend with the kids but was being kept from the kids and not allowed to see them except when she thought it was necessary.  My ex  told me at the beginning of our separation that for custody and visitation we would start with a 1 hour afternoon visit, once a week.  Then once she decided that the kids were ready, we could talk about changing it.  She also told me that overnights were out of the question and we would revisit that idea in 3 to 4 years.  My kids were 5 and 3 years old at the time.  She even kept the kids from me for a month without letting me see them at all because she said I gave her my work schedule to late and the days off that I had didn't work for her and the kids. I had a very difficult time explaining to an attorney, what was exactly going on because of how sneaky and manipulative things were being done.  I was being left out of medical decisions.  I was being left out of educational decisions.  I was being lied about to the kids and talked bad about to the kids and would have to answer questions from my kids about why I had done the most recent lie she had told them.  No one would listen to me.  No one would help.  I was told to settle.  I was told to stop fighting because I was the Dad and had no chance of significant custody time.  But I could not give up.  I saw the hurt in my kids' eyes when I would have to take them back before any of us were ready.  I just needed to find someone who would listen to what was actually happening. One day I read a review much like this one.  This person was talking about his work schedule and how he worked 12 hourshifts.  He talked about how Mike Razo helped him get significant custody time with his kids even though his work schedule was being used against him.  When I read that, I knew that I needed to speak to Mr. Razo. We set up a meeting to discuss the case with Mr. Razo and get his thoughts on the matter.  It took no more that 2 minutes for me to realize this guy was different.  He was listening.  His responses to my information and questions were like he already knew what was going on.  And more than that, he gave me hope that it wasn't over and that he would do everything in his ability to help me.  That began a journey with Mr. Razo that lasted several years.  My ex fought everything in court, wouldn't move forward unless ordered by a judge and dragged everything to a halt any chance she could get.  It was bleak.  I was way behind the 8 ball and fighting an uphill, seemingly impossible battle. All through this process I would get frustrated and upset about the process and the things she was "getting away with".  And every time, Mr. Razo was there to tell me the truth.  It wasn't always what I wanted to hear and wasn't always the best news, but he always, 100% of the time, told me the truth.  He always made me feel like someone was in my corner, someone was hearing my concerns and understood them and actually caredabout what was happening to my kids.  If he told me he was going to do something, he did it.  If he told me this is what's going to happen, then that's what happened.  He always called me back, emailed me back or contacted me whenever I had concerns or questions.  He never gave up on me and my kids when others told me that I should just settle because she was going to win anyway.  Mr. Razo never made false promises or told me what the out come was going to be, but he never gave up, gave his very best for me and told me to hang in there because he believed that we had a good case. My divorce went through many hearings.  One of which was to attempt to have a full custody evaluation (730 Evaluation) granted.  My ex fought this very hard.  My previous attorney told me that it wasn't necessary and didn't think I needed oneand advised against it.  I knew that a custody evaluation was what I really needed to have in order to have all the lies and manipulation exposed.  Mr. Razo agreed and fought for me to get one.  It was granted by the judge and when it was completed, it came out in my favor.  VERY long story short, my case went to trial and I went in to trial with nothing. When I left, I was awarded primary custody of my kids and see them on all my days off. You WILL NOT find a better attorney or person, than Mr. Mike Razo. There should be more than 5 stars. read more

If you're considering hiring an attorney, please read this review! I ended a 20+ year marriage, and the sole provider the entire time. Significant assets, and my ex, had no translatable skills in the workforce. Most everyone wrote me off to the states reputation, favoring the party in need and not the provider. I interviewed several Attorneys and was looking for a few specific traits: *Business Acumen My assets included stocks, and stock options, and believe it or not, many Attorneys are not completely well versed or comfortable in the different types and how they work. *Negotiator I needed someone who was a deal maker. The court outcome was too risky in my particular case, and more importantly, it would have cost an arm and a leg to go the distance! *Reputation Its so important to consider reputation when selecting an attorney. I was interviewing another attorney and i asked her who she respected in the industry and she was the one who ultimately gave me Bill's name. Every attorney has a reputation amongst themselves and the court. It is critical to select one who is respected by the parties who will be involved. I saw judges act very dismissive with attorneys who I could tell did not have credibility. I'm convinced a settlement was made possible because of Bill's reputation and ability to work with the other side. *Cost versus price While Bill was not the cheapest hourly rate, he told me during our consultation that he often saves the client money because he negotiates a favorable settlement. That is exactly what he delivered to me! A very fair outcome at a fraction of the cost my case was worth! As unpleasant as divorces are, my experience with Bill and his team made the process much better, than I've heard from others, who selected other attorneys. DO NOT COME HERE if you are looking for assistance with a restraining order and child custody!!!!! All they did was waste time and money to not even follow through with the contract they provided! They never once cared about my case but I never had to do this and trusted them after reading reviews forking over almost 10,000 without question! Maybe you will have a better experience with other services but if you are advised to have Gousiha Farouk you are not going to get anywhere! REQUEST SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE! I have a restraining order against the other party in the criminal and family law. After working with them for months she advised that we had more than enough sufficient evidence to continue with pursuing a restraining order prior to going to court the other party had tried negotiating multiple times making her job easier to find a middle point. when we went to the first hearing it was continued and the opposing party requested visitation until the next hearing it was granted and mind you the day before her specific words to me were they cant get both a continuance and ask for custody and what will you know the next day I get a call from her legal assistant Sara Travoki telling me this information and to my surprise I couldn't believe it in shock and her response to me was you new this was going to happen I will never forget because I still said nothing not only in shock from the news but having her say that as if it was nothing. Being in shock and hearing that I had to respond and I said oh ok I will talk to gousiha and she quickly hung up. I understand it's the norm for these attorneys as they do this day in and day out but at least act like you care and how can you say that to someone who is going through a difficult matter involving a baby! When I followed up with gousiha, as always she tries to make it as if it was our of her control but mind you before she was so certain with her expertise and experience and I understood because what can I do when court already took place at this point we had discussed everything and I still was uneasy about the comment her legal assistant made and I spent so much money I think it's fair for me to address my concerns and so as soon as we finished our conversation I explained how her legal assistant stated that to me mind you because the court took place that same day I had to go pick up documents from them and she had hung up on me I had to call back in and I went the same day to pick up my paperwork and I expressed how that shouldn't have been said because I did that the next thing I know she's saying that she's know going to have to refer me to someone else. We continued to talk and she told me she spoke to her other partners and they want to continue to refer me to someone else yet we were just talking about the plan to move forward and our next steps and we were about to the call but because I expressed how I felt regarding how her assistant handled the breakdown of my case all of a sudden my case was thrown out the window and technically at this point she was saying oh I will follow up with you in two days to see what decision we make but clearly and even when speaking with her it was evident that she didn't want to handle my case so she would look for any excuse to cancel contract and in the retainer they notate they can remove themselves if they have a reason as to why they feel they cannot continue and what do you know all of a sudden now my evidence isn't sufficient and now there advising I shouldn't even try to get a continuance of my restraining order and at this point they claim there isn't enough to move forward and that is the concern and reason for why they will terminate the contract mind you at this point I have reached out to opposing party myself and they confirmed they have not sent any new evidence so all my evidence is still the same there are no changes there is no other reasoning behind this other than they just don't want to help because her legal assistant took offense because she made that comment and that was not ok! If you want someone who actually wants to help you not for the money but someone who you can trust if you are a victim and have children please do not go to this law firm! I am a firm believer in karma and although I will have to look for a new attorney I truthfully was relieved when I learned through an email that I would have my contract cancelled because I have been taken advantage of by this law firm and since day once I have never felt as though they cared about my case and it is truly sad how they take advantage of people who are dealing with matters like these for the first time. I would like to be clear I saved money for 3 years to ensure when it came time to handle this matter that at no cost would I not hire someone. Even today I'm still calling the law firm to get the information for my case that I need because they do not follow up with anything! read more
