We had a fabulous meal at this Swabian brewery and restaurant right in the heart of downtown Stuttgart. We met friends that live in Stuttgart on a Saturday and were easily accommodated at a nice table inside. There is plenty of outdoor seating and the inside is very clean, fresh and modern. I had the Weizen beer (wheat beer) and it was crisp and delicious. For my entree I had schitzel with spaetlzle (egg noodles) and both were wonderful. Our friends told us that this brewery has other locations in Boebblingen and bottles their beer. I also liked the historical wall of photos that showed the history of the brewery. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner while shopping in downtown Stuttgart.

We had a great time at the Brauhaus Schönbuch!

We arrived at Panzer Kaserne last week, and for our first trip off-post our friends brought us here. This place was amazing. Great atmosphere, friendly people, delicious food, and great beer! I had the house burger on a pretzel bun, and to drink I had the hefeweizen (wheat beer) and the dunkel (dark) beer. All of it tasted amazing. They have a menu which has English descriptions under the German, and our waiter spoke enough English words to understand us. I definitely recommend this place!

Whether you're in Stuttgart for one day or several, go to this restaurant! We have been traveling south Germany for a week and this was (by far) the BEST meal we've had AND service (which is mostly non-existent in Germany)! My husband had the beef goulash soup (AWESOME!) and I started with the ravioli soul. Then we had the curry sausage with fries and the sausage salad. We each devoured our plates. Also, the "cloudy" Schonbuch beer was excellent! So happy we finally had a place with great service!! Whether you have a party of 1 or 8, you should try this place.

nice looking pork knuckle, but was a little overcooked and too hard and chewy on the outside

It is definitely not a tourist site judging by how many locals were around us! It looked like this was their regular restaurant spot! The atmosphere was so welcoming. Several large tables had 8+ people groups who seemed like they were having a blast and were there when I arrived and looked nowhere close to being done when I left! The menus are all in German but luckily a staff member caught on to my incompetent German and gave me an English menu that was tucked away. There are about 8 main dishes plus several vegetarian options, and soups/sides/dessert. It may seem like it's not an extensive menu but rather, they focus on making homemade components to their dishes and they make them really well! I ate the fried Maultaschen with egg, it came with a lovely salad with some hidden tastiness! My husband ate the lentils with spätzle and two sausages. I came back two days later after my first visit and ordered a the "Terine Gainsburger marsch", which was a soup/stew with tender beef pieces, potatoes, carrots and spätzle in a flavourful beef broth. I loved it! I finished my meal off with a bread pudding which had a lovely mix of textures and flavourful cream sauce on top! Service was very friendly. I left with my pants feeling tighter and super satisfied that I ate some authentic Swabian cuisine.

Parked on the street and since I didn't have change, the server was good enough to let me borrow a parking permit so I didn't need to feed the meter. Server was great and willing to explain the various dishes. Ordered the tripe stew, German raviolis and schnitzel. While my kids didn't enjoy it as much, I thought it was great. Really liked their potato salad. While food and service was definitely a solid four, the ambiance/weather (especially when it's hot) and credit card is why I held out to 3.5. If the food is the same the next time, I'll bump up to a to a 4.

But this place has a very good selection of microbrewed beers that matches some of the best beers in the region. Their selections are fairly limited and need to look up the list of what's available, but the ones I have consumed so far, every single beer was just amazing. Their Weiss bier was very good. Even my brother-in-law from Munich thought their Weiss Bier was really good. They have very good food as well. I really liked their Schweinshaxe. I usually associate Schweinshaxe as a greasy heavy good, but not their's. It is not greasy but the meat just falls off the bone and very tender. We have tried their flamkuhen and it was very good as well. But I would avoid their BBQ ribs. Only thing you would get is very greasy ribs and nothing else. You would need more than a pint of beer to wash that thing down. Maybe that's the whole point. Their parking is very limited and street parking is very challenging but not impossible. If you are working/visiting for Agilent in Waldbronn, then this would be a good place to visit even for lunch. It is located about a 10 min walk. The staff are generally friendly except Friday and Saturday nights since they are very busy. And most staff we dealt with spoke very good English, but try to speak a bit of German goes a long way.

A very lively, trendy area with many choices for GastroPubs, bars and lounges. We found a table near the fountain in the square and enjoyed a nice meal and drinks outside. Platzhirsch serves Lowenbrau on tap in great old world steins. The pours were generous and our beers and a cognac made people watching fun! Bavarian Meatloaf i.e., Fleishkuechle is under 7 euros for 2 patties, 'tater salad and a nice salad. my guest had a decent chezzburger with fries. Most entrees were under 10 and biers under 4 euros. Maybe I was too hungry but everything was great and prices super fair for a downtown location. Communal tables turned over quickly so you should have no problem finding space for small groups and, is the German custom, people will move and share the table space to accommodate. Service was efficient, a bit brisk but responded to every request. Bathrooms were painted black and graffiti covered, clean enough to get your business done but up one level-not handicap friendly. Afterwards you'll find plenty to see and do and if so inclinced, a small Red-Light district is about 4 blocks away if you want your laundry done.
