I have lived in Altus area for years. This Braums has been slowly going down. The service can be both good and bad. The exterior of the building is grossly nasty. went to Braum's and we went at almost closing time the employees were rude and upset that we came in so late I was appalled that they could be so rude. I was sorry that we came in so late but I work late so I don't get to eat at the places I like to eat at but the thing is we were already there they were open and we got our food, sat down and ate and then I wanted some ice cream and went to the counter to get the ice cream and they said we're closed. I was a little confused by why they would close all their cash registers and not leave one registrar open for customers still in the restaurant so as we proceeded to leave, I asked for corporates number the girl that that was behind the door as we were going out asked why do we need corporate's number or is there anything we could do to help? I said no you're closed. Laugh out loud. I just need corporate number. They didn't give me the number they said look it up online so I did and as we were going to our car, we got in the car the manager came out to my car and proceeded to ask why we were going to call corporate I said because y'all closed remember instead of de-escalating the problem he just escalated it more by coming out to my car and arguing while we are going to call corporate on them we said we would never eat there again or come back. I've lost all respect for Braum's. Being that they are a home town company I used to love them. This is one of the times where I feel zero stars should be an option. I won't go into great detail but I will say that I ordered something that they discovered was actually out of stock. I paid for it on my card, but they ended up giving me a refund in cash. The shift manager shorted me on the price I paid for the item, not to mention that I also obviously paid tax on it as well which should have also been refunded but wasn't. The manager's attitude was terrible and i could tell from the very beginning when she blurted out over the drive thru speaker, talking over me AND the drive thru employee, that my experience wasn't going to be good. I really like the desserts from here. I have tried the strawberry shortcake sundae and the brownie fudge sundae several times. My favorite is the brownie fudge sundae. It is yummy and the brownie is moist. The shortcake in the strawberry shortcake sundae was just okay. The first time I ordered a burger from here, it tasted and looked great and fresh. However, the second and third times, my burgers didn't seem fresh and appeared greasy and sloppy. And I ordered a burger without ketchup and the second and third time, there was ketchup. The employees are friendly. I haven't dined in yet since I always order in the drive thru. I definitely will return here for desserts. read more

Ice cream was delicious but the staff was awful. No one answered the drive through for a solid minute and it was rather awkward. Then the girl at the window didn't talk to us for another long awkward period of time. Then she gave us our order and we almost drove off before I realized I hadn't even paid yet. Braums needs to put their ice cream flavors (in the case) on the board so people can see what their choices are. How can you order before you see what's available? They need to keep the glass clean. The hamburgers don't taste like the good meat like they were a few years back. Your help is over worked and I might guess, underpaid. Braums has done a good job with their poppyseed salad. The food is yummy, the ice cream is out of this world, and the grocery part is convenient, fresh, and has good prices. The staff can be a little distant and busy talking to each other or on their phones. This happens every time we're in there. They seem a little disgruntled. But once you get your food, everything is great! You might have to ask for a table to be cleaned and the condiment bar is usually dirty from people helping themselves and making a mess, and usually there is always something that has run out. Wow its been years since I ate here...And nothing has changed. Hair in my wifes Ice-cream, and not just a little one. A big, long, two tone, split end type hair! My burger was crunchy! Not lots of fresh lettuce crunchy but the patty was crunchy. Like cook it at 1 and warm it up till crunchy at 5 type of crunchy. Wont be back. While I can't comment on the quality of their grocery store items - I can say that the restaurant part of this particular Braum's was unsanitary the particular day we went. We went there on a Monday night with a plan of getting a decent sandwich and some ice cream. My wife and I got two chicken sandwiches, fries, and one of their Mix's as well as some Sherbet. Food was very average in taste - absolutely nothing to write home about. Ice cream was good - the Mix is essentially a ripoff of DQ's Blizzard, but a bit cheaper. Here comes the bad part: while there I noticed that the place was literally infested with flies. Now I know that Altus and this part of the world has lots of them during the early parts of the summer, but having multiple hundreds of flies in a restaurant makes you nervous about the food there. That bad feeling from seeing all the flies turned into a horrible night, as both my wife and I got sick a couple hours later with food poisoning (I'll save you the details, but yes, it's what you're probably imagining right now). Really - just stay away. Go to McDonald's down the street if this is what you're looking for. At least their sanitary standards should be better, and honestly their burgers and fries are too. read more

As per any quick visit type place not everything was perfectly clean, but the staff was fantastic- I mean great attitude, smile for every customer in the long line. Third time visiting from another state while visiting family. I get the covid stuff but it always seems to be mass confusion at the counter while people are waiting to order. One big thing that I can't understand is not having the ice cream flavors posted for people to see. This place is dirty. Most of the time there is no adult supervision and it shows. You have to make sure they clean the mixer in between shakes. Flies land on the mixer in between shakes and it about make you sick thinking about it. But it is the only place in Altus to get real hand dipped ice cream. I like going to DQ down in Chillicothe, TX just to get out of Altus. It's about 35-40 minute drive. read more

Braums is pretty good! I give the ice cream and milkshakes there 5 stars by themselves! But on the other hand the burgers and fries aren't as good. The ice cream is absolutely wonderful, if not some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Service is fast and the food really is not bad, add a milkshake in and it's pretty good. Staff is pretty average for a fast food type of place, no ones smiling or making any extra effort to make the customers experience better, but what can you expect. read more

Great ice cream, horrible service since the oldest person on the crew is probably 16. The dining area is usually dirty and not clean, same with the bathroom. The grocery store part is usually clean and has great items for purchase. Their "Mix's" are really good. Had a burger here and it was good. Service isn't horrible it's slow. I found this out from a restaurant consultant who clued me in on a few things. They cook fresh at order placement and that's why they are slow. They raise their own dairy and beef cattle, bake their own bread and only have stores within 175 miles of their central location to allow Braum's drivers to be at home with their families. That makes waiting an extra few minutes worth it in my book! read more

Thought it had changed in 20 years. NOPE! Management is just as rude to the employees as they were 20 years ago. Funny thing is, they don't care if anyone hears them. Very unprofessional, and very sexist. I found out a district manager was there the day I went to have ice cream. He was talking to a pregnant female employee and making rude remarks about her weight, and how she looked. I was surprised no one said anything to him. The other managers just laughed. Management needs to change there ASAP or someone someday will file a sexual harassment charge soon. Verbal abuse is not allowed, in any way shape or form. If you are in the mood for ice-cream in Altus, OK--this is probably the place unless you fancy McDonald's soft-serve. Good ice cream, lots of toppings, and plenty of tasty choices. Burger menu looks alright, except the inside of the place is pretty dirty with greasy tables that might have been wiped when the place opened each day.
