Literally the best hot fried chicken I've had in Nashville. I got the chicken tenders at a medium spice level, which was perfect. The chicken is juicy and thick. The breading is crispy. The crinkle cut fries are seasoned to perfection. The ranch was so good, it reminded me of wingstop ranch. Even the burger was delicious. The employees are friendly! Primarily outdoor seating but were told we were allowed to sit in one of the establishments nearby. We sat outdoors at night, and it was nice!

Delicious. Friendly. Affordable. They gave me a cat discount for showing them my cat. The only negative I have here is I wish they were opened longer and more days cause it was hard to catch them during their open hours. I'd eat here several days in a row if I could. Tenders were large, the level 4 spice a good heat. The pickles seemed homemade and delicious. Gotta get extra of those next time. I have my eye on that chicken sandwich.

Brave Idiot was a very accurate name as the spice levels are pretty high! A lot spicier than Hattie B's. I got the level 4 for the hot chicken sandwich and while the chicken was very tender and juicy, I do wish i could have gotten a 1. Overall, the staff is very kind and I would return (but just order less spice)!

I ate my way through Nashville. Thought brave idiot is worth an exploration. Good value, great flavors and 4 out 10 is a fair spice level coming from someone who likes spice. Highly recommend a visit.

When Dylan Field was working at Southern Grist, he would often talk about his desire to open his own food truck and damn did he hit one out of the park. I am glad to see he is doing well. My first exposure to his food was when he hit Craft Brewed in Melrose (now a vape shop) with a burger pop up. Excellent burger. For the past few years, he has been a permanent popup at No Quarter - at first on the side, now in back. And recently, he was recognized as the best Hot Chicken in Nashville. I decided to put it to the test (not my first time eating his chicken, but first time since he hit #1). The food truck is a food truck (see picture). You order and get a pager to let you know when you grub is done. So not much ambiance, unless you consider trucks a form of ambiance. Service is also pretty much like any food truck, although Dylan is more than happy to help you get the right level of spice (and trust me, he can light you up). NOTE: At the time, you got 10% off for showing your kitties (pictures of cats, get your mind out of the gutter). I order #6 out of 10. I wish I had been a bit milder, although this baby still has tons of flavor. I can just imagine what 10 is. Moist chicken, wonderful flavor. 10 out of 10. I can see why he got the award. The potato salad is a different than most and has a bit of an upscale flavor. I would say more 7 or 8 out of 10 here, but it is potato salad. For those hitting this spot, either pop into No Quarter or the cocktail bar next door (both allow you to bring in food) and grab a beer or mixed drink while you nom down on this great chicken.

Welcome to the best hot chicken in the city. I got a level 5 and it was perfect. Not too spicy, but still a little kick, great flavor, perfectly cooked- crispy and moist. Please do yourself a favor and go to brave idiot. They have a "crunchsmash" a smash burger in a crunch wrap. I have got to try this.

    Tendies level 5

One of the best chicken tendies I've had in my life, highly recommend trying this place.

    Pesto pasta salad

Hattie B's was my first meal in Nashville and it had me down bad on Nashville hot chicken. Brave idiot restored my faith, the sandwich was fantastic. I got a level 7 spiciness, which was perfect. Hot, but not so hat that it ruined the sandwich. The pesto pasta salad was great, get it. The choc chip pretzel cookie had great flavor but the texture was off. Maybe because it was in a bag.

    Breakfast burrito
    Emily A.

The portions are massive! And the food is great especially for a hangover. I recommend the chicken burrito over the chorizo smash. They were both too spicy for me but my boyfriend love them!

This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. Fifteen trips to Nashville (together) and it's still one of our first stops. That's probably the strongest review I can give. Five stars.

Not one item was forgotten or felt skimped on. They even made sure to use an allergy marker for my pancake! I loved the kids option for the pancake, because I don't want a massive pancake or multiple pancakes most of the time. I was one small/normal size with some sides. The kids option comes with milk/juice, a small pancake of your choice (I did blueberry), hashbrowns, and a fruit cup. The pancake was delicious and I loved the addition of the blueberries. The include butter was soft and a little sweet (which works well for pancakes). The syrup I believe is their own blend and it has great maple flavor! This is one of the top fruit cups I've had as well. Not filled with melons or grapes but instead pineapples and berries (likely using some of the pancake toppings - which is so smart). I added on bacon but different and it was amazing! Sticky, a little heat, a little sweet, and a little salty! A great balance! I also was oddly craving grits so I added a side and they are actually perfectly seasoned - which I was expecting to doctor them up because most grits are bland but these are great! Overall, a flawless experience even as a delivery option!

Parking is in a private lot behind the restaurant and they validate parking for up to two and a half hours. I wish I could rave the same way about the food. While the cocktails were refreshing and they had a cocktail for every palate, my steak and eggs was bland. It came out a little closer to rare than medium, but I can live with that. But I am not sure I detected a speck of salt or pepper. The steak was at least tender and the sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. The potatoes were dry. And I did have the wagyu meatball appetizer. It's a large portion, so easily shared amongst two or three people. Cheesy and saucy with a little spice. The focaccia could've been toasted a little more. I considered the short rib hash, but my server told me it could be salty and hit or miss (I appreciate her honesty and she 100 percent should be praised for it). I came during brunch (even on a weekday). They also serve French toast, desserts, oysters, burrata, potstickers and tuna tartare, salads, burgers and other sandwiches. If you come for lunch or dinner, you can also get grilled salmon, blackened redfish, shrimp and grits, pastas (cajun chicken, pappardelle bolognese, tortellini) as well as various cuts of steak. It's conveniently located right across from the Frist Museum and is part of the Union Station Hotel. I would try this place again for dinner, but would skip the brunch.
