We've been to The Finch three times now--twice sitting at the bar and once at a table. We definitely prefer the bar, but I think that's just because we're bar people! The bar has two hidden TVs that you can only see when you sit at the bar, which is such a cool touch. It keeps the space feeling upscale without sacrificing the ability to catch a game. The overall ambiance is great, and the music is always at the perfect volume for an easy conversation. The drinks have been consistently excellent. We've tried both cocktails and wine, and everything has been delicious. The wine is a little overpriced in our opinion, but it was so good that I'm glad we still ordered it! On our most recent visit, we started with the burrata. It was very good, but I do wish there had been more sauce and more cantaloupe. The sauce felt more like an accent than something that really tied the dish together. That said, the perfect bite was definitely the burrata with the prosciutto and cantaloupe! For our entrees, Jonathan ordered the pork chop, and I had the piri piri chicken. Both came with broccolini and patatas bravas. I was expecting traditional Spanish-style patatas bravas, so when whole baby potatoes showed up, I was initially a little disappointed. Don't let that fool you, though--these potatoes were incredible!!! Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and packed with flavor! They ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal! My piri piri chicken was fantastic! The portion was much larger than I expected, and the piri piri sauce served on the side was absolutely lick-the-plate good. I found myself dipping the potatoes and broccolini in it because it was just that delicious. Piri piri isn't something you come across often in Nashville, and The Finch absolutely nails it--and at a really reasonable price. Jonathan's pork chop was cooked perfectly with great flavor. It wasn't an over-the-top, show-stopping dish, but for around $30--including both sides--at a more upscale restaurant, it's hard to beat the value. One more recommendation: get the volcano rock shrimp. We had it on a previous visit, and we still talk about it! It's easily one of our favorite dishes we've had here. Visited Finch while exploring The Gulch neighborhood. I didn't have a reservation, but I was able to get seated right away, which was nice. I really liked the decor, the space was very pretty and had a great atmosphere. I ordered the blackened redfish. It felt very heavily seasoned , almost like the seasoning was the main flavor, and I couldn't really taste anything else. The seasoning was delicious, but I would have liked to experience more of the actual dish and ingredients. The sauce was good, and the mashed potatoes underneath were a nice touch. Service was okay, although I would have appreciated being checked on a little more often. Absolutely incredible foodie spot! If you can look past the pretension, the atmosphere, food, drinks, and vibe are immaculate here! We came in for the first time ever on a surprise date night my wife planned for us. Neither of us had ever been here or experienced what we were about to experience. Such a culinary treat! We went intentionally to share several small plates/tapas style and a few drinks. We were not prepared with just how good everything was! It all came out in quick fashion after we ordered. Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful building by the old train station that is now a hotel. Very swanky inside and the service was prompt and courteous. Made a reservation, but arrived a bit early. They were able to accommodate and seat us a bit early. Started with the oysters - which were delicious but a bit small for the price. Our entrees were fabulous. I recommend the Shrimp Scampi (nothing left at the end) and the tuna poke bowl (a new take on a classic, ornamentally decorated with edible flowers). My only complaint is that you had to scream across the table to talk or even discuss with the waiter. Very hard to converse and enjoy your company due to the extreme loud noise level. Such a great experience! We were first timers in the city and searched for dinner ops! So happy we chose this for our pre-anniversary dinner! The ambiance was captivating and warm! So many great things about The Finch. My server, Savanna, was EXCEPTIONAL, like AMAZING. She was bright, helpful, and attentive to the max, but not in an annoying way. She even went out of her way to get me a drink that had fallen off the menu a few weeks prior, a delightful cucumber spritz. The ambiance is awesome. As others have said, music isn't too loud, just pleasant in the background, so it would be ideal for having a conversation. The space is open, bright, light-filled, and stylish. Parking is in a private lot behind the restaurant and they validate parking for up to two and a half hours. I wish I could rave the same way about the food. While the cocktails were refreshing and they had a cocktail for every palate, my steak and eggs was bland. It came out a little closer to rare than medium, but I can live with that. But I am not sure I detected a speck of salt or pepper. The steak was at least tender and the sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. The potatoes were dry. And I did have the wagyu meatball appetizer. It's a large portion, so easily shared amongst two or three people. Cheesy and saucy with a little spice. The focaccia could've been toasted a little more. I considered the short rib hash, but my server told me it could be salty and hit or miss (I appreciate her honesty and she 100 percent should be praised for it). I came during brunch (even on a weekday). They also serve French toast, desserts, oysters, burrata, potstickers and tuna tartare, salads, burgers and other sandwiches. If you come for lunch or dinner, you can also get grilled salmon, blackened redfish, shrimp and grits, pastas (cajun chicken, pappardelle bolognese, tortellini) as well as various cuts of steak. It's conveniently located right across from the Frist Museum and is part of the Union Station Hotel. I would try this place again for dinner, but would skip the brunch. The Finch is a fantastic addition to the Nashville dining scene, and I've had consistently great experiences here. On my most recent visit, my guest and I started with the rock shrimp, which was perfectly cooked. The sliced scallions weren't over-seasoned, and the spiced peanuts tied everything together beautifully. It's also a generous portion--honestly large enough to enjoy as a main course, which I've done before. We also ordered a few house cocktails, all of which were well-balanced and refreshing. For our entrées, I had the roasted herb chicken while my guest ordered the filet mignon. The chicken was cooked well, and the citrus jus added brightness without overpowering the dish. The broccolini was a perfect complement. My guest's filet was also excellent--cooked to a perfect medium rare, with sides that paired nicely overall. That said, the tobacco onions and demi-glace leaned a bit heavy and slightly overpowered the plate. We added a side of the Alfredo mac & cheese, which was decent, though it had a breadcrumb topping that I personally don't prefer--even at a steakhouse. Service was friendly and attentive, though it could have been a bit quicker at times. Parking can also be a bit challenging, which keeps me from visiting as often as I'd like. We were seated in the bar area at a cozy table. We both got the Filet Mignon. A Filet should be able to cut with a fork imo, I couldn't cut this one. The steak was not tough, just not fork tender or melt in your mouth. I was not expecting it to come stacked with the Demi Glacé on top of the steak. A filet I like plain and want to taste the quality of beef, not mask it. You cover a sirloin in Demi Glacé, just a plain filet. The steak still had really good flavor and was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were excellent with the steak. The tobacco onions were a nice surprise. I would get this again, but with the Demi Glacé on the side. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while based on popular places in Nashville. We walked in with no reservations, but the girls at the front were very nice and told us we could sit at the bar if we waited a bit, which we did. It was a Tuesday, so I'd recommend making reservations if you are going in the weekend! We had a great server who helped us pick our dishes since we were new. Both our dishes were amazing, the parpadelle bolognese had such a unique flavor and pasta cooked to perfection! My husband ordered the white wine shrimp scampi which was also great, very light sauce and seasoned perfectly. The salad we ordered was split and it was fresh and not overly dressed. It was a good start to the meal! The cocktails we ordered were all good as well, we always share to make sure the experience is the same! The dessert was excellent! The staff seems very young, and while they were friendly, service could use a little more attentiveness. We accidentally broke a glass, and it took more than five minutes before anyone came by to clean it up. That said, the food was excellent! A delicious meal was had here! I came with a group of five of my coworkers, and we were all blown away by how great everything was from start to finish. For my entrée, I went with the 12 oz Hawaiian ribeye, and it was phenomenal. Cooked perfectly to my liking, super tender, and packed with that slightly sweet and smoky flavor that sets it apart. Everyone at the table loved their dishes as well , there wasn't a single miss. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, and our food came out in great timing despite the place being busy. For a last minute group dinner with friends, we decided on The Finch. We made reservation for five people about three hours in advance for a Saturday dinner with no problems - we actually found it a bit surprising they still had spots given how crowded the place was when we walked in! The Brentwood Chicken Sandwich ($17) - The blackened seasoning on the chicken imparts just enough flavor to be pleasing but not overwhelming. It's kind of a whisper of flavor, smoky paprika, earthy and zesty. The chicken is tender, cooked perfectly with no tough or stringy bits to be found. It's served on a bed of veggies, with plenty of garlicky mayo added to act as a moisture barrier to keep the veggies from softening the baguette. On top of the chicken is a very herb-forward spreadable cheese. It has a very distinctive taste that only comes from Boursin. The mini baguette everything rests in is delightfully chewy and snuggles all the ingredients inside, preventing anything from slipping out. On the side the entree includes a cup of battered steak fries. They are actually really good, despite some of the photos making them look sad and floppy. They are fried perfectly, giving a fantastic battered crisp exterior and a fluffy interior. They are then tossed with herbs, parmesan, and salt, for an extra flavorful bite. (5/5) Royale with Cheese ($18) - This is a pretty tall burger, although it smashes down without much sliding out, which makes eating it a bit easier. While it claims to have two smash patties, they are only very minimally smashed - in fact, I'd say that forming the patty by hand instead of by smashing would likely not change the outcome of the burger. The patties aren't much different in height from a standard 1/3lb patty. There's some char on the contact areas, creating nice caramelization. They aren't over salted, just enough to allow the beefy flavor to come through, and there's enough moisture on the interior to not feel overcooked and dry. The burger sauce on top has a bit of a zesty zing and some melted cheese, always appreciated in a burger, adds more fat and creaminess. They stack a good amount of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles underneath the patties. Pretty standard stuff, but added in amounts large enough to add a pleasing crispness. The bun is buttered and toasted. It's otherwise unremarkable. (5/5) I tried some of the Crispy Aioli Brussels ($9) as well. The sprouts are charred, albeit tossed in a creamy sauce that reduces the crispness. The interiors are tender and soft and there's no bitterness to speak of. These are really filling thanks to the sauce. Service was in general quite good, very zippy. We were in and out within an hour and a half, unlike the previous night's dinner that took almost double the time. The Finch really exceeded my expectations. The interior resembles more fine dining than casual, but the pricing is reasonable. While the food isn't inventive or exciting, they have excellent execution. There's really nothing to complain about. Note: The Finch provides paid parking ($9.25 for up to 3.5 hours), but we opted to park down the street at a meter ($2/hr for the first 2 hours). Our waiter was delightful. However, the decor does not highlight the historic nature of the building. Though competitively priced, the food was disappointing. The pot stickers were nothing special and I am told that the steak was good. The deconstructed wedge was especially sad. I'm still looking for the blue cheese crumbles.
