The Finch is everything you could want in an upscale restaurant: great atmosphere, great food, great service! We had a larger (10) group celebrating two birthdays and the staff handled things without breaking a sweat. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation but it was no bother as our table was still being prepared. On that note: highly recommend a reservation, this is a popular place! Once we were seated we had the pleasure of Nichelle, a wonderful waitress. She was on top of everything we needed or wanted and we had very little wait time for her return. Great service! And the food... DELICIOUS! As you can imagine, our group of ten had a good selection across the menu and there was not a single person who was disappointed. Everyone loved their amazing food. What tops everything off is the atmosphere here. It's popular so, as you can imagine, it's a bit noisy. However, I like to call it "lively". So many great things about The Finch. My server, Savanna, was EXCEPTIONAL, like AMAZING. She was bright, helpful, and attentive to the max, but not in an annoying way. She even went out of her way to get me a drink that had fallen off the menu a few weeks prior, a delightful cucumber spritz. The ambiance is awesome. As others have said, music isn't too loud, just pleasant in the background, so it would be ideal for having a conversation. The space is open, bright, light-filled, and stylish. Parking is in a private lot behind the restaurant and they validate parking for up to two and a half hours. I wish I could rave the same way about the food. While the cocktails were refreshing and they had a cocktail for every palate, my steak and eggs was bland. It came out a little closer to rare than medium, but I can live with that. But I am not sure I detected a speck of salt or pepper. The steak was at least tender and the sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. The potatoes were dry. And I did have the wagyu meatball appetizer. It's a large portion, so easily shared amongst two or three people. Cheesy and saucy with a little spice. The focaccia could've been toasted a little more. I considered the short rib hash, but my server told me it could be salty and hit or miss (I appreciate her honesty and she 100 percent should be praised for it). I came during brunch (even on a weekday). They also serve French toast, desserts, oysters, burrata, potstickers and tuna tartare, salads, burgers and other sandwiches. If you come for lunch or dinner, you can also get grilled salmon, blackened redfish, shrimp and grits, pastas (cajun chicken, pappardelle bolognese, tortellini) as well as various cuts of steak. It's conveniently located right across from the Frist Museum and is part of the Union Station Hotel. I would try this place again for dinner, but would skip the brunch. The Finch is a fantastic addition to the Nashville dining scene, and I've had consistently great experiences here. On my most recent visit, my guest and I started with the rock shrimp, which was perfectly cooked. The sliced scallions weren't over-seasoned, and the spiced peanuts tied everything together beautifully. It's also a generous portion--honestly large enough to enjoy as a main course, which I've done before. We also ordered a few house cocktails, all of which were well-balanced and refreshing. For our entrées, I had the roasted herb chicken while my guest ordered the filet mignon. The chicken was cooked well, and the citrus jus added brightness without overpowering the dish. The broccolini was a perfect complement. My guest's filet was also excellent--cooked to a perfect medium rare, with sides that paired nicely overall. That said, the tobacco onions and demi-glace leaned a bit heavy and slightly overpowered the plate. We added a side of the Alfredo mac & cheese, which was decent, though it had a breadcrumb topping that I personally don't prefer--even at a steakhouse. Service was friendly and attentive, though it could have been a bit quicker at times. Parking can also be a bit challenging, which keeps me from visiting as often as I'd like. We were seated in the bar area at a cozy table. We both got the Filet Mignon. A Filet should be able to cut with a fork imo, I couldn't cut this one. The steak was not tough, just not fork tender or melt in your mouth. I was not expecting it to come stacked with the Demi Glacé on top of the steak. A filet I like plain and want to taste the quality of beef, not mask it. You cover a sirloin in Demi Glacé, just a plain filet. The steak still had really good flavor and was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were excellent with the steak. The tobacco onions were a nice surprise. I would get this again, but with the Demi Glacé on the side. Server was professional and accommodating overall but the restaurant is very busy Siri t brunch and at some points we needed his attention and he was taking customers order on the other side of the venue. When the food was brought out a different gentleman presented the meal and got them confused with each patron and was not able to clarify our questions or what each dish was (there were 2 steak dishes and he should know not us having to guess) and 5 people had either dish at the table. For a last minute group dinner with friends, we decided on The Finch. We made reservation for five people about three hours in advance for a Saturday dinner with no problems - we actually found it a bit surprising they still had spots given how crowded the place was when we walked in! The Brentwood Chicken Sandwich ($17) - The blackened seasoning on the chicken imparts just enough flavor to be pleasing but not overwhelming. It's kind of a whisper of flavor, smoky paprika, earthy and zesty. The chicken is tender, cooked perfectly with no tough or stringy bits to be found. It's served on a bed of veggies, with plenty of garlicky mayo added to act as a moisture barrier to keep the veggies from softening the baguette. On top of the chicken is a very herb-forward spreadable cheese. It has a very distinctive taste that only comes from Boursin. The mini baguette everything rests in is delightfully chewy and snuggles all the ingredients inside, preventing anything from slipping out. On the side the entree includes a cup of battered steak fries. They are actually really good, despite some of the photos making them look sad and floppy. They are fried perfectly, giving a fantastic battered crisp exterior and a fluffy interior. They are then tossed with herbs, parmesan, and salt, for an extra flavorful bite. (5/5) Royale with Cheese ($18) - This is a pretty tall burger, although it smashes down without much sliding out, which makes eating it a bit easier. While it claims to have two smash patties, they are only very minimally smashed - in fact, I'd say that forming the patty by hand instead of by smashing would likely not change the outcome of the burger. The patties aren't much different in height from a standard 1/3lb patty. There's some char on the contact areas, creating nice caramelization. They aren't over salted, just enough to allow the beefy flavor to come through, and there's enough moisture on the interior to not feel overcooked and dry. The burger sauce on top has a bit of a zesty zing and some melted cheese, always appreciated in a burger, adds more fat and creaminess. They stack a good amount of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles underneath the patties. Pretty standard stuff, but added in amounts large enough to add a pleasing crispness. The bun is buttered and toasted. It's otherwise unremarkable. (5/5) I tried some of the Crispy Aioli Brussels ($9) as well. The sprouts are charred, albeit tossed in a creamy sauce that reduces the crispness. The interiors are tender and soft and there's no bitterness to speak of. These are really filling thanks to the sauce. Service was in general quite good, very zippy. We were in and out within an hour and a half, unlike the previous night's dinner that took almost double the time. The Finch really exceeded my expectations. The interior resembles more fine dining than casual, but the pricing is reasonable. While the food isn't inventive or exciting, they have excellent execution. There's really nothing to complain about. Note: The Finch provides paid parking ($9.25 for up to 3.5 hours), but we opted to park down the street at a meter ($2/hr for the first 2 hours). We visited The Finch on New Year's Eve for dinner. I made reservations weeks in advance, which was very simple online. Parking was slightly confusing, but we paid to park nearby in an empty lot, next to the restaurant. We were seated immediately upon arrival without any wait. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and even near the bar, the noise level wasn't too overpowering. We enjoyed the cowboy queso with chips for a starter. Two of us had the filet mignon, which was served with mashed and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly. My husband had the special, which was an ocean fish (I believe it was grouper) served over mashed potatoes with broccolini. For dessert, we tried two items. One was a 7 layer chocolate cake, which was literally to die for... The other dessert was a bread pudding with ice cream and caramel sauce. The meal was delicious! I am only removing one star for the service. We had a less than attentive waiter and kept having to stop other people to ask for drink refills and the check. A delicious meal was had here! I came with a group of five of my coworkers, and we were all blown away by how great everything was from start to finish. My wife and I were looking for an upscale lunch spot off Broadway yesterday and we found The Finch. It has been some time since I had an opportunity to write a 5 star review, let alone for lunch. From the minute we walked in service was outstanding, like the best service start to finish we have experienced in a long time. Both of us ordered the smash burger with beef tallow fries. That's what sounded good but it was better than that. The bun, perfectly toasted to hold up against the juicy mess a smash can be. Fresh lettuce and tomato, like a slice of tomato that is actually ripe and crisp lettuce. Beef, perfectly seasoned and seared. One of the best burgers I have had in a very long time. The beef tallow fries are ridiculously good, like so good you don't want to dip them in ketchup or ranch because they taste so good on their own. To finish things off we shared a piece of the butter cake and it was delicious. As we were getting up to leave a couple of the kitchen staff were passing by and thanked us for coming in. The interior of the restaurant is very well done, bright, and inviting but The Finch truly shines in awesome hospitality and food. read more

It started with my family looking for a place for Happy Hour. My daughter stumbled on this place by doing a search in downtown Nashville. The Finch is situated in a century old Union Square baggage building. We were very impressed with the place and the atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food was at a higher quality. We did get there in time for the Happy Hour specials. We ordered some appetizers and drinks which were very nice and moderately priced. I had a maple flavored old fashion which was very good and my wife has her go to Cosmopolitan. We ordered the Volcano Rock Shrimp, the Salmon Crudo, and the Tzatziki and Spicy Feta dip. We ordered the grilled fish tacos from the main menu and everything came out quick and hot. This place is located just south of the entertainment area on Broadway away from the crowds. The one thing that is a bear to navigate is the parking. The parking lot is located behind the building and you have to take an elevator or the stairs to get up to the restaurant. Not a biggie but it was 20 degrees and walking in that cold is never fun. I would definitely make it a stop if we ever visit the Nashville area again. read more

I love how their website informs their customers where to park and that the restaurant will validate up to a certain amount, which covers 3.5 hours for $8.25, which is a steal in Nashville. Matt was our server and he was very nice and went over the specials which my mom and sister ordered from: blackened catfish and catfish po boy. I started with the French onion soup. It was a tench salty but not overwhelmingly so. Matt said one of his favorite dishes was the white wine shrimp scampi and it was delicious! I love lemon and it was very lemony.
