We were looking for a dinner spot within walking distance of our hotel. I was able to easily make reservations using open table. The Finch does have a large bar that is open seating. We were quickly greeted by the host & sat at a table. Our server Tad was amazing. Tad was a wealth of knowledge on The Finches menu & attentive to our needs. He kept our water glasses full and made sure our dining experience was flawless. I went with the zephyr song cocktail. The blueberry flavor was so refreshing. We also tried the Moonlight in Vermont which was their riff on an old fashioned. For the Moonlight in Vermont they replaced the simple syrup with maple syrup... a nice twist that was not overly sweet. My husband enjoyed the French dip sandwich with Brussel sprouts. The Brussel sprouts were crispy & tossed in an aioli. I had the steak frites skewers. I loved all the sauce options that came with the steak. The garlic aioli was my favorite sauce. The cocktails were good but order ahead because these take a while to arrive. The food didn't live up to expectations. One of our friends' steaks was noticeably smaller the size indicated on the menu. And as someone who loves cod, it always breaks my heart to see such a delicate fish overcooked which was the unfortunate case for us. We did enjoy the freshly made beignets for dessert, which were a definite highlight. Our table wasn't wiped down between courses, leaving an errant piece of fish on the table while we ate dessert which was just not appetizing. My boyfriend and I went to The Finch for lunch to have a little celebration for our 3 month anniversary. Hilariously ChatGPT has been recommending this restaurant to him for over the last year. Well the wait was absolutely worth it! We went for lunch on a Friday afternoon so we were able to get a table pretty easily. I would say that if you did go an evening or a weekend then I'd absolutely plan ahead a little. While we were able to get a table easily, the restaurant was also essentially full. We ordered the Steak Frites Skewers as a starter and then the Blackened Redfish and Short Rib as our entrees. My boyfriend also got the Peaches Out in Georgia Cocktail. The Steak Frites came with like 5 dipping sauces so in addition to some tasty bites we also got to have a little fun with flavors. That's a big thing we love to do anyway. Both of the entrees were incredible. We actually both agreed that of the two that we ordered we liked the Redfish better. Even then, I'd order either of them again any time. The Peaches Out in Georgia cocktail was so good! I love anything that's peach flavored and it was very well made. Also for those who don't drink alcohol at all or rarely do like me, they have a list of mocktail options as well so you can still have fun with some beverages with your meal. Parking can be a little bit tricky since the restaurant is right next to Union Station. There is a large parking lot next to the restaurant that you have to drive down a sloped area to get to and then come back up to the restaurant with either the elevator that's there or a couple of flights of stairs. While you do need to pay for parking, the restaurant does validate for a discount for up to 3 hours so I'd highly recommend asking for that validation. read more

This place was hopping for a Wednesday night. We were from out of town and looked them up on Yelp to give them a try. Apparently you need a reservation cause all that was available was open bar seating early in the evening. My husband ordered the Short Rib and the lady seating next to him had to ask what he was having because it smelled so good. We came in for the first time ever on a surprise date night my wife planned for us. Neither of us had ever been here or experienced what we were about to experience. Such a culinary treat! Visited Finch while exploring The Gulch neighborhood. I didn't have a reservation, but I was able to get seated right away, which was nice. I really liked the decor, the space was very pretty and had a great atmosphere. I ordered the blackened redfish. It felt very heavily seasoned , almost like the seasoning was the main flavor, and I couldn't really taste anything else. The seasoning was delicious, but I would have liked to experience more of the actual dish and ingredients. The sauce was good, and the mashed potatoes underneath were a nice touch. I highly recommend the pastas here. The papardelle bolognese was my favorite dish. It had stracciatella cheese on top to make it extra creamy, carrots, and basil. The burrata antipasto appetizer was also really good. It came with pepper jelly and balsamic sauce, rosemary focaccia, cheese, arugula, and meats which all paired so well together. We've been to The Finch three times now--twice sitting at the bar and once at a table. We definitely prefer the bar, but I think that's just because we're bar people! The bar has two hidden TVs that you can only see when you sit at the bar, which is such a cool touch. It keeps the space feeling upscale without sacrificing the ability to catch a game. The overall ambiance is great, and the music is always at the perfect volume for an easy conversation. The drinks have been consistently excellent. We've tried both cocktails and wine, and everything has been delicious. The wine is a little overpriced in our opinion, but it was so good that I'm glad we still ordered it! On our most recent visit, we started with the burrata. It was very good, but I do wish there had been more sauce and more cantaloupe. The sauce felt more like an accent than something that really tied the dish together. That said, the perfect bite was definitely the burrata with the prosciutto and cantaloupe! For our entrees, Jonathan ordered the pork chop, and I had the piri piri chicken. Both came with broccolini and patatas bravas. I was expecting traditional Spanish-style patatas bravas, so when whole baby potatoes showed up, I was initially a little disappointed. Don't let that fool you, though--these potatoes were incredible!!! Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and packed with flavor! They ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal! My piri piri chicken was fantastic! The portion was much larger than I expected, and the piri piri sauce served on the side was absolutely lick-the-plate good. I found myself dipping the potatoes and broccolini in it because it was just that delicious. Piri piri isn't something you come across often in Nashville, and The Finch absolutely nails it--and at a really reasonable price. Jonathan's pork chop was cooked perfectly with great flavor. It wasn't an over-the-top, show-stopping dish, but for around $30--including both sides--at a more upscale restaurant, it's hard to beat the value. One more recommendation: get the volcano rock shrimp. We had it on a previous visit, and we still talk about it! It's easily one of our favorite dishes we've had here. The Finch has been consistently good every time we've visited, and that's what keeps bringing us back! Great food, great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and solid value for the quality. So many great things about The Finch. My server, Savanna, was EXCEPTIONAL, like AMAZING. She was bright, helpful, and attentive to the max, but not in an annoying way. She even went out of her way to get me a drink that had fallen off the menu a few weeks prior, a delightful cucumber spritz. The ambiance is awesome. As others have said, music isn't too loud, just pleasant in the background, so it would be ideal for having a conversation. The space is open, bright, light-filled, and stylish. Parking is in a private lot behind the restaurant and they validate parking for up to two and a half hours. I wish I could rave the same way about the food. While the cocktails were refreshing and they had a cocktail for every palate, my steak and eggs was bland. It came out a little closer to rare than medium, but I can live with that. But I am not sure I detected a speck of salt or pepper. The steak was at least tender and the sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. The potatoes were dry. And I did have the wagyu meatball appetizer. It's a large portion, so easily shared amongst two or three people. Cheesy and saucy with a little spice. The focaccia could've been toasted a little more. I considered the short rib hash, but my server told me it could be salty and hit or miss (I appreciate her honesty and she 100 percent should be praised for it). I came during brunch (even on a weekday). They also serve French toast, desserts, oysters, burrata, potstickers and tuna tartare, salads, burgers and other sandwiches. If you come for lunch or dinner, you can also get grilled salmon, blackened redfish, shrimp and grits, pastas (cajun chicken, pappardelle bolognese, tortellini) as well as various cuts of steak. It's conveniently located right across from the Frist Museum and is part of the Union Station Hotel. I would try this place again for dinner, but would skip the brunch. I recommend the Shrimp Scampi (nothing left at the end) and the tuna poke bowl (a new take on a classic, ornamentally decorated with edible flowers). My only complaint is that you had to scream across the table to talk or even discuss with the waiter. Very hard to converse and enjoy your company due to the extreme loud noise level. On my most recent visit, my guest and I started with the rock shrimp, which was perfectly cooked. The broccolini was a perfect complement. My guest's filet was also excellent--cooked to a perfect medium rare, with sides that paired nicely overall. That said, the tobacco onions and demi-glace leaned a bit heavy and slightly overpowered the plate. We added a side of the Alfredo mac & cheese, which was decent, though it had a breadcrumb topping that I personally don't prefer--even at a steakhouse. Service was friendly and attentive, though it could have been a bit quicker at times. Parking can also be a bit challenging, which keeps me from visiting as often as I'd like. We were seated in the bar area at a cozy table. We both got the Filet Mignon. A Filet should be able to cut with a fork imo, I couldn't cut this one. The steak was not tough, just not fork tender or melt in your mouth. I was not expecting it to come stacked with the Demi Glacé on top of the steak. A filet I like plain and want to taste the quality of beef, not mask it. You cover a sirloin in Demi Glacé, just a plain filet. The steak still had really good flavor and was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were excellent with the steak. The tobacco onions were a nice surprise. I would get this again, but with the Demi Glacé on the side.
