This little spot on 2nd Ave N is an iconic Nashville spot. They also have a location over in midtown. The spot is in an old building in the middle of the entertainment district (Lower Broad area). It has a small outside seating area, for when it is not a sauna, Inside there is a nice sized bar, if you are just seeking a drink. They are known for their mac & cheese, which I have never tried in all of the times I have been to the Stillery. Very creamy, cheesy mac & cheese. The Nashville hot chicken has a nice spice to it. A bit mild for the serious hot chicken fans, but the flavor is there. The chicken tenders are fairly standard. And the crinkle fries are mid. I enjoyed both of the drinks. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. I don't think they ever have live music, unlike some others here, so you are going for the food, not the noise. Service was great, as always. The staff is always prompt and knows their menu. After about 15 trips to Nashville, my wife and I have developed a routine. Get to town. Drop off the bags. Head to The Stillery. It's usually our first dinner stop every single trip. This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. We had reservations for a large group but when we got there, there wasn't a table ready and we had to wait about 20 minutes. That was disappointing and not the best first impression. After being seated it took a while for a server to even come around, so also not the best sign. Luckily, once we did get a couple of servers, they were super wonderful and did an excellent job moving forward!! I ordered a burger on a gluten free bun (which made me so happy that they had one!!) and the burger was absolutely delicious!! The side salad with white vinaigrette was also sooo yummy! I ended up eating everything and was extremely pleased by the end of it all! We were seated upstairs and there was a gentleman playing live music, which was so lovely to have while eating dinner! A hidden gem tucked away off Broadway across from Category 10. Great small atmosphere. there may be a 10 or 15 minute wait but the service is great with a fast turn around. Had a really good time here at The Stillery. We ended up eating on the first floor where there was no live music since the line was shorter. There were plenty of tables and a bar section as well. The food came out pretty quickly despite it being around prime dinner time. The mac and cheese was fantastic and very rich. It had charred spots that gave certain bites a satisfying crunch, which blended nicely with the rest of the bowl. The pesto tomato pizza was much bigger than I expected. They have high and low top tables, bar seating and outdoor seating. The Stillery absolutely blew me away. Some of the best pizza crust I've ever had...perfectly crunchy on the outside while still soft and chewy on the inside. We ordered the Aloha pizza, and it came with this incredible hot honey sauce. Their pizzas are perfect size for two people. Came in for a quick dinner our last night in Nashville and it was cozy and delicious! The menu is primarily bar/comfort food which is perfect for a casual dinner. I went with the hot chicken sandwich actually ordered without the hot (alas, my reflux can't handle spicy these days and they were very kind to accommodate) and a side of fries. The sandwich was quite big and the chicken was perfectly fried and juicy. Crinkle fries tend to rank lower on my hierarchy of fry types but they defy expectations as theirs are perfectly salted and crunchy. My husband had the mac and cheese topped with fried chicken and it was very rich and filling but very good. The ultimate in comfort food! Space is rustic and charming (as is the vibe in most of Nashville) and they specialize in moonshine and craft cocktails for beverages (the name is "Stillery" after all!). Our waiter was also really great. I wish I was better at remembering names because he's worth shouting out. But to the hockey player waiter working on a Sunday night, high five, you were awesome! It was Yelp that led us here with the highly rated reviews. When it came to ordering there were plenty of choices. Our server Brandon suggested ordering their personal pizza if I was hungry. I was leaning towards the burgers. He stated that the burgers are two smashed patties. Kind of like Smash Burger. I opted for the Sonoran Burger. It incorporates roasted jalapenos, caramelized onions, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and roasted garlic aioli. It includes crispy fries. Before tax and tips, it costs $20. Because we had been escaping from the Nashville humidity by drinking Coke beverages in the Assembly Food Hall prior to eating here and that we were going to drink alcohol in the Embassy Suites Manager's Reception afterwards, we complimented the food with a glass of water. Brandon was on top of the refills. During our dining experience here from 3:27 to 4:31 pm, I practiced mindfulness which is focusing on the present. When I looked out the window my eyes took in a busy patio fronting a historic streetscape. Looking toward the right I saw Acme Feed & Seed and part of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. Looking above my eyes took in the warehouse ceiling. Listening, in the backdrop of our conversation; my ears heard classic rock tunes including "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "Best of My Love," and "Come and Get Your Love" amongst others. In similar style to a couple of other Nashville establishments, I heard rock & roll instead of country. Here, the music came from the radio instead of from a live stage performance. This was a comfortable restaurant to dine in. I felt my New Balances on the wooden floor and my buttocks on the cushioned seat. The scent was neutral. When the Sonoran Burger arrived, I tasted an absolutely delicious juicy burger with good crispy fries. I rate The Stillery Four Stars. My Brother and Dad told me that it was a good choice to eat here. read more

While on a business trip, I stopped by The Stillery for a solo lunch based on some of the excellent Yelp reviews. Though I never really have issues eating alone while traveling for work, it did feel a little odd in Nashville. My server, Peyton, was really friendly and helpful in selecting a nice beer and she suggested the Mac & Cheese. It was very good, but very creamy. I like a good baked mac and cheese with breadcrumbs that's not too wet and this was very wet and rich. It would have made the perfect shared side dish if I'd gotten the chicken fingers...maybe next time. The space and location are great, just around the corner from all the action on Broadway. And it's one of the few places that didn't have live music even at lunchtime on a Tuesday so it was good if you wanted to have a conversation or catch up on some texts/e-mails before hitting the bars. read more
