I contacted BRAX on April 10th and scheduled an estimate for April 18th at 3:00 pm. I received a call from Shawn (the person who was supposed to complete our estimate) saying he needed to push back our appointment to 5:00 pm. Fine - stuff happens but he didn't show up until 5:20 pm. While we were introducing ourselves and telling him what we needed he answered a call from another customer without even saying "Hey. Sorry to interrupt, but I need to take this call really quick." He just cut us off and answered it. He looked at our skylight and told us it would need to be replaced. When I scheduled the appointment they asked me to confirm roof access because we live in a condo and they needed to know what kind of ladder to bring. Shawn admitted he had a ladder in the van but didn't feel like getting it and asked if we had a ladder that was tall enough. We did not so he didn't even go on to the roof to properly access what would be needed. He then proceeded to give us a verbal quote and we thanked him but told him we would need to discuss our options with our realtor since we are in the process of selling our home (the entire point of the estimate). We even advised him that we have another roofing company coming out next week and that we wouldn't make a decision about anything until we got our second estimate. It then felt like we were at a used car dealership. He offered to give us a phone number for a friend (Martin) that paints homes at discounted rates if we accepted his BRAX quote for the skylight replacement. "I'll tell you this, I'll give you martins contact info if you agree to have us do your replacement tonight." We told him no. He then started to make some phone calls to see if he could get his quote down but received a call from his wife reminding him that he needed to walk the dog. As soon as he realized we weren't going to sign or commit anything he said he had to leave and would email us our quote later. We didn't get anything from him Wednesday or Thursday so I followed up with a text on Friday at 2:00 pm. It's Wednesday and still nothing. We had a great experience setting up the appointment and talking to Shian at the beginning of the process, but our in home estimate experience was a mess. read more

It looks to me that BRAX management is reorganized in a more efficient and customer-centered way. On the day of inspection, even though the BRAX field inspector came later to my home than originally scheduled, the inspector worked until late at night to send me his inspection report via e-mail. The next day, new BARX managers contacted me, giving me updates on the status of my emergency project. About 20 months ago, when my home's roofing project was being carried out by BRAX Roofing, BRAX's customer care was terrible in a way as to be rated 'unacceptable,' as far as my experience was concerned as a customer with BRAX's treatment and group attitudes. But, this time, their responsiveness is totally different from it was 20 months ago. I feel this time that the BRAX management's customer care has been changed and upgraded to a level that is one of the best in the home improvement industry. Solely based on my experience as a customer with the current BRAX management, the field inspector and the two managers whom I contacted and communicated with, I would like to rate BRAX Roofing to be excellent, 'Five Stars.' read more

I found Brax Roofing through a search when I was looking to replace my roof. The first impression was good with the quickness in which they responded and did an inspection of the roof. Very thorough in walking me through the process using digital tools, photos, project updates. When the shingles they recommended needed permission of the HOA once again they walked me through the process. Believe me the days of any shingle will do seem to have changed. There is a huge choice and some of the new products are long lasting. Boris of Brax Roofing did a great job educating me and staying on the phone to answer all the questions. I was informed that this company no longer does repairs. But the man who came out to look at it was honest about the fact that my leak was in fact repairable and my roof did not need to be replaced. He even told me exactly what needed to be done and approximately how much I should pay for the repair. I appreciate his forthcoming nature and openness. Can't say enough positive things about Brax! About 2 weeks ago, it was pretty windy outside causing some roof shingles to fall off my house. I wasn't sure who to contact (due to the coronavirus and all) but glad I was able to get Brax to come out. They were a bit difficult to reach, since most of the employees were working from home. But once I was able to reach them, their customer service is freakin amazing! Not only did they do a free estimate, but they were able to provide quotes for the repairs and quotes for a complete replacement. Pretty much everything was done online or over the phone. Since I went with the repair, it pretty much only took about an hour. They were super fast and they provided pictures of the repairs when they were done. They do require a down deposit and overall, the process was very painless. Overall, would highly recommend anyone looking to do roof maintenance! read more

We know we needed a new roof when we started seeing leaks in the ceiling so I did research on Next Door and Yelp and found Brax Roofing. We highly recommend them for the following reasons: 1) Honest: a) Damon, one of two service representative who came to the house to give us an estimate, told us there was no need to update the gutter and downspouts, and only one skylight replacement was needed. They also checked out the insulation in the attic and took pictures so there was no doubt we needed a new roof and a skylight. b) They came the day they scheduled and charged exactly what they said they would. 2) Efficient - the work was all done in one day, including replacing the skylight. 3) Great quality-control: a) They use quality materials, such as the Owens Corning Total Protection package, which includes their complete air ventilation system and underlayment barrier; offer 25-year workmanship warranty as well as manufacturer warranties that come with the products; have a slew of certifications and are O.S.H.A. Compliant. b) They had the roofers take pictures of their work stages, which is so reassuring since you can't be up there with them to make sure all the layers are put in place. This is something I'd insist on next time I need a new roof! (I posted a couple of photos to show you just how neat their work was). c) They sent a roofer the next day to do a sweep around the house for debris (there wasn't any because their workers had cleaned up) and go up to the roof to double-check their own work. And, just to top it off, Damon delivered chocolates as a thank you. All in all - a great and painless experience! (And, as you know, house maintenance isn't always.) Boris and Ben are good guys. We had our entire roof replaced at a reasonable cost and Boris actually reduced the price at the end of the job because he saved us money on materials and did everything up to Maryland Code. Ben called us the day of our roof being damaged and sent a crew to put tarp. It raimed the bext day. Their estimate was detailed and Boris answered every question we had and retirned our calls wothin 24 hours. They are co-owmers and you get their expertise. Boris came out 3 months later and helped me figure out a totally unrelated issue about my house. Thats how much they are there for their old customers. The roof is fabulous and done on time. They stick to the time promised and Boris comes out in person and takes pictures and deals with the insurance if needed directly at no cost to us. If he says repalce the roof. Its probably a good idea. They care more about the job quality and our satisfaction thann the money. Ill definitely use them again for our chimmney. To get to their store you have to drive back. Ben has a nice dog but you can tell them in advance if youre not comfortable around dogs. Hes a good dog though, very friemdly like the Braxx team. Best to call Bens phone and hell return your call for an emergency. Best to call in the morning like 0830 also visiting their location in pm like after 4 pm Ben or Boris will be around. I used their service for our roof replacement. The first time they came for replacing the roof, they all were so professional on time well equipped etc. I was very impressed. They said they used GAF nails to nail the shingles. The same day when the job was done, there was a bad storm that hit the Gaithersburg area and all the shingles started to fly out from my roof hitting my neighbours cars and their houses. When I called them they said they will come in the morning. No one came over that night to see the damage. I was very concern and I called them many times but very negative response. I notice in the morning they didn't even used nails to install the shingles just glued them. Very sad about that. I made sure this time they use nails and can handle storms and rains. Well so far no issues with the roof. But they never worked with my neighbours on claiming any claims. Nor their insurance company contacted us. I gave them 3 star on their roof work on the second time. However, they need to be more professional at their work and responsible. read more

Excellent all around. Needed new chimney flashing and found BRAX after two other companies didn't return calls. BRAX had a human answer the call, not a machine, and she was pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. Damon came out a day later to check the job and gave me an estimate before he left. I called this company last week for an estimate- one of the employees came out ~1.5 hours early- before the scheduled time. He said it was no problem - he didn't need to go Inside to see the ceiling damage, and I was 45 minutes away with no traffic. I talked to him over the phone about the roof leaking issues due to the recent bad rain storm(s).. I even watched him remotely via camera go up on a latter and look at something- but it was not the roof or near the leaking area. He stated that he knew what the issue was and that he would send me an estimate- I have not received anything or heard back from this company. I called the company at the time of the appointment and they apologized. They said they would get back to me the next day. I never heard from them again. I cannot tell you how good the Brax team is. The work was done beautifully, my yard was respected (I have a large landscaped garden full of plants), and everything looks great! But, what I think is their greatest asset is their attention to detail in their communication, and the level of customer service that is clearly part of Brax's mission. Boris and Mason were EXCEPTIONAL to work with - being very upfront and honest with every step of the process. This is rare to find this level of communication, especially when dealing with contractors/construction. Our roof was finished a day before it was promised. Jack inspected it the day after it was done and took pictures which he sent to me from his phone. It was perfectly done. I don't like to give my credit card number out over the phone and would not be home for someone to come by for a check so I asked Jack if I could mail to to them and he said it was fine. Our roof sustained a significant damage during the weekend windstorm that swept through the D.C. area in early 2018. Out of the three reputable roofing companies we contacted, Brax was the only one that were willing to come over the very next Monday and place a tarp over the more than 10' x 10' area of exposed wood. The quick response by James, the service rep we dealt with, meant that further damage to the sub roofing was prevented as it rained all day Tuesday. James was outstanding throughout the process and reminded us that there still are customer service professionals that care. While State Farm and our HOA dragged their feet, Brax had to come back and re-secure the tarp. On the day of installation, the crew showed up on time, took extra care not to damage the plants, cleaned after themselves and the crew chief Alejandro came back the next day to recheck and sweep the ground on both sides. Danielle closed the transaction and patiently waited for State Farm to issues us the check. We hired Brax Roofing for a complicated roofing job. Our roof has lots of different angles AND we wanted a combination of genuine slate and asphalt shingles because we were planning to install solar panels on (the shingle) parts of the roof. I also requested unusual flashing materials and gutter/downspout combinations. The Brax salesman spent hours and hours with me, even accompanying me to the Roof Center to look at slate options and allowing me to choose. Owner Boris Cardenas then took over my project and he, too, came to my house to walk through the entire project before they started. This virtual walk through was possible because Brax makes strategic use of photos and high tech apps to measure and detail your project. Very cool! I am a demanding customer and kept a list of tweaks as the project progressed. (I do recommend staying on top of your project in this manner, since Boris himself can't be on hand every minute and his people did make some little errors.) Boris and Brax cheerfully listened and then implemented all of the items on my punch lists. I waited to write this review until 4-5 months had passed because wanted to make sure the roof didn't leak! So far so good. Not only is it beautiful, but it's watertight. The ONLY thing that went wrong is that I didn't have a concept for the piles and piles of slate dust that would land in my attic when Brax removed my crumbly old roof. I had covered things stored up there, but did not cover the entire attic and the dust landed in our loose insulation, causing a big mess to clean up later. I told Brax they should offer a service where they will protect your insulation (and the rest of your attic) with tarps. Lo and behold, Boris says they have added this as an additional paid service. I'd rather it be included in the cost, but am still impressed that Brax listened. All in all, I am very impressed with Brax Roofing and have already recommended the company to several neighbors. read more

The test of a company is when something goes awry. Generally, the installation of our new roof went well - everyone was in pretty close contact with us, and it went pretty smoothly (a couple of relatively small issues). We paid within a couple of days (they are pretty on top of their billing. : ) About a month later - I got up on a ladder to clear out those annoying helicopters seeds and noticed we were missing about 6 feet of our gutter guard. Brax had had to remove all of our gutter guards to install the roof and then reinstall them afterwards. I'm guessing some of them were inadvertently thrown away? I really can't imagine any other explanation. I emailed my contacts at Brax with a - "we like the roof but here's an issue." No answer. I emailed again. No answer. Complete silence on their end. Not even an explanation of "sorry, our policy is such and such." Doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling when/if something more significant happens and I actually need to use the warranty. Brax Roofing responded quickly to my inquiry about an estimate for replacing my roof and siding. Within about 24 hours of my inquiry they reached out to make an appointment for a sales representative to come by to provide an estimate. He arrived on time and was courteous, friendly, and professional. While providing the estimate in person he said that he would follow up with a written estimate. He also offered to assist with a homeowner's insurance claim. After meeting with the sales representative I followed up by calling (his voicemail was full), sending an email, and later (when I was able) leaving a voicemail. I never heard from the sales representative again. I have not heard from anyone connected with Brax Roofing since meeting with their sales representative. Not once by phone or email. I was and am incredibly disappointed in Brax Roofing. Given their complete and utter failure, I have contracted with a responsive and professional company. read more

After the early 2018 wind storm, our roof saw significant damage on one side. After looking at review sites and making phone calls, I had several companies come out to take a look. Hands down, BRAX was most impressive with not only their roofing knowledge, but their knowledge in how to work with the insurance companies. BRAX went up to bat for me against my insurance who wanted to pay a claim for less than the true damage that was done. In the end, BRAX was able to get a quality roof installed after the back-and-forth with insurance to get as much covered as possible. Scheduling was a breeze, they showed up on time, and it took less time than quoted. Even though there were a couple of hiccups along the way, they handled them well and kept me informed. I am very pleased with the job BRAX did in repairing assorted issues I had (missing shingles, a deteriorated PVC pipe collar, deteriorating rake boards) plus replacing my old and fogged up skylight with a beautiful new clear one. The skylight replacement I think is a very tricky thing to do, and I am happy to have gotten it done by the BRAX crew. The rake boards were replaced with composite board painted to match my trim-work, and where my original roof had a rake board flaw that enabled a bird to get access to the attic, Matthew their star guy devised an effective and aesthetic corrective surgery to keep out critters while keeping the appearance smooth and beautiful. He even devised (and painted appropriately) a neat extra "V" cap at the crown of the roof to augment another issue he noticed where the shingles weren't overlapping sufficiently to ensure water-tightness. I feel completely satisfied with BRAX's workmanship, attention to detail, meticulous cleanup, and great customer service. Boris, my rep, was great to work with, from his original inspection--in which he took pictures he emailed me, explained exactly what had to be done, and explained his recommendation for the option of replacing the skylight--through his follow-up with regard to that persistent bird. He inspired confidence throughout the job, and Matthew's work in particular was outstanding. read more

We wanted to replace our roof and skylights as a pre step for our solar install. Of the 5-6 firms we interviewed, Brax came out on top. When their initial quote on the skylights was quite high, I was quickly contacted by one of their senior staff who worked with our salesperson, James to understand what we wanted and provided a second, very competitive quote. They helped us select between the different kinds of roof materials and James patiently provided estimates for each! They held open our estimates while we selected our solar provider and then worked with the solar provider to ensure the roof warranty would not be voided by their work. We were impressed by this young man's ability to calmly work with us over the space of a few months to arrive at the best possible project plan and estimate, without the usual sales pressure to close a project. We have 6 very large skylights on the roof, so the roofing project was not without its challenges. We had a positive experience overall, and feel the company managed issues competently and quickly. We have our GAF warranty asof today and feel optimistic that we will get the same level of support should any issues come up in the future. Would recommend! read more
