After a leak issue, Brax roofing immediately responded and worked quickly to rectify. The leak was not necessarily from an area they worked on previously but to be safe they still covered the repairs since the deck was under warranty. Boris apologized for the unresponsiveness regarding my bubbling and reassured me they are working to get dec tec to cover new flooring but was not receiving responses and they could not do much during winter. These guys are dishonest and unethical. On Friday, June 4, 2020, their staff accidentally let their ladder slide and hit my neighbor's new car, which was less than 500 miles driven, checked every morning, and last driven the previous Tuesday. Both management and staff refused responsibility. Ben claimed their car was 12 feet away, but it was really 8 feet away. I regret ever having these folks fix my roof. Super disappointed with BRAX customer service, management and owners. We had BRAX resurface a deck and the finish work was clearly sloppy. There are bubbles under the surface, visible nail holes and unfinished glue and grout all around. Months and months of our countless phone calls have been ignored, despite early BRAX inspections after installation, with promises to repair and finish, nothing has been finished or repaired. He was super accommodating with the first meeting time being at the very end of the day due to my work schedule. He brought all the shingle samples with him so it was easy to visualize especially because at that time I didn't get the official approval from HOA. He was easy to talk to and sounds like an honest person. He took his time to explain every aspect of the replacement process. Since I had to get HOA approval and get my finances sorted out it took maybe a month or so. Even then he was available to help me make the choice of the type of roof to meet the HOA requirement. I give Chris 10/10 Installation process: After submitting the deposit it took 1 week to get the roof replacement started. They call you a couple of days or so to see if its possible to start on the project. You are not required to be at home for the project so this made it easy for me. They came with their equipment, dumpsters and supplies and were able to start on the project without delay. One anomaly for me was my 1 day project turned to 2 days due to staff shortage which did not affect me. Daniel A from the company keep me updated on any issues or changes via email and phone call. They also took pictures of any additional fix they made and also the final product. Overall, the whole process was painless as it should be since replacing a roof is a big deal. BRAX Roofing came to help diagnose a leak from one of our recessed light sockets that started after a particularly heavy rain storm last season. The technician determined that the flashing needed to be replaced and also sealed it, which seemed to address the problem as we haven't had leaking in the year since then despite another heavy rainy season. We also hired BRAX to install rain gutter guards along our lower roof. The estimate for the leak and gutter guards were free and the quoted cost for services was very reasonable. We found the staff to be friendly, professional, and fast on responding to both the request for a quote and scheduling the repairs. Great reviews unfortunately do not always equal great performance. This was the case with Brax Roofing. Upon deciding to install a new roof, gutters, and downspouts, I reached out to Brax, along with several other companies. Their salesperson seemed knowledgeable and professional. They were not the cheapest, but based on some good reviews, I decided to hire them for the job. Two roof installations and four gutter installations later, I unfortunately realize that good talk doesn't always equal good work. The work itself was a disaster (which is why I am guessing that many of the reviews are good. As customers feel as though Brax seems on top of things, but perhaps the homeowners don't have enough expertise to know that their job was performed horribly). After the first roof was installed, it was apparent to even me as a layman homeowner that it was not done correctly. Upon review by the owner as well as others from Brax, the owner admitted that it was done improperly with the excuse that they were shorthanded with experienced roofers, so simply used unskilled laborers to do the work. Seriously!?! They then redid the roof over the next few weeks to get it to a point that it was acceptable. But it was like pulling teeth. And the jobsite was left a mess. I was picking up nails from my yard for weeks afterwards. The gutters and downspouts were even worse. This is a different crew and it is almost as if they are not part of the same company. They come at different times, are supervised by different people and are even less skilled then the roof guys. They literally had to install the gutters and downspouts 4 times. The first time, they installed them before the roof was ready. The next time, they tried to reuse the same materials which had been bent up during the installation and removal and I guess hoped that I wouldn't mind paying thousands of dollars for something that was damaged. The third and fourth times were not much better, but they wore me down and I finally accepted their subpar work. Once I paid for the work in full, they disappeared. I have since realized that the gutters are not just damaged looking, but also not functional in some places, but Brax (having been paid in full) has become a ghost. Not standing by their work, not providing any level of customer service, not even returning calls. I am a 21-year real estate broker and deal with dozens of home improvement companies for both myself and my clients, and Brax is certainly at the bottom of the barrel. I will never recommend them to anyone, and everyone should steer clear. read more

I'll review several different areas: Estimating & Proposal Revisions -Responded fairly quickly at first but after meeting with the estimator, he was very slow to respond to follow up questions, clarifications, and revisions. So slow that at times I had to message them through Yelp again to get a response. Eventually we moved to text and were able to get our final version of the proposal much quicker that way. Actual Work -They seem to have done a good job with the actual work. They put a new cedar roof on our gazebo and also added some static roof vents and ridge vents to parts of our house. There were a few areas on the gazebo I would have preferred they took more time with as some of the gaps at the ridges of the roof sections are a bit big, so we'll see if that becomes a problem later on. The ridge vents and static vents they installed the house seem to have been done well, though only time will tell whether they were done properly or not. From the looks of it though, it does seem they were done correctly. Items in the Proposal -I had asked about different ways of improving our attic ventilation as our powered attic fan was having trouble keeping up and would burn out in just a few years. He originally proposed static vents but when I asked about ridge vents, he said those would also work and put them on the proposal. Only after talking to a contractor in my family did I learn that you should not have both a ridge vent and a powered attic fan. When I asked the estimator, he said that was correct. So, either 1) he didn't realize I had an attic fan when preparing the quote (which we definitely talked about when he was here), 2) he wasn't thinking about the impacts of having both when preparing the quote, which is a bit frustrating, or 3) knew of the fan and about not having both but added the ridge vent to that section of the house to jack up the price. Overall The quote process left a lot to be desired. The work quality seems good so far, but ask me in a year or two if we've had any problems. read more

We have used Brax twice to repair holes in our roof caused by fallen tree limbs. Both times they have been professional, reasonably priced, fast to get the job scheduled, and incredibly clean and efficient in their work. What more can you ask for in a contractor type business??? Chris has come out both times to assess the roof damage, and he is fantastic. He never suggests we do more than what is needed for repairs, and explains everything that they are going to do clearly. I paid them over 2k to fix a leak in my roof. Well, the roof is still leaking and they won't call me back to give me an estimate to "re-fix" what should have already been fixed. I've called them and emailed them SEVERAL times over the past 6 plus months. I even went as far as scheduling an estimate for what they already knew was an issue and still nothing. When they do respond, they promise to get back to me, but I still haven't heard anything. Now, I have to start the process of finding someone else to fix what they failed to repair AND looking to see what options Maryland gives me to address this workmanship issue. It's one thing for a company to attempt a repair and quickly remedy any issues that occur after that. It is absolutely inexcusable for a company to take someone's money and never even attempt to correct the problem. And to be clear, they have had ample time to correct and numerous reminders that there is an issue. Also, on top of that, they are still sending me emails about referring other people. rax roofing gave a decent enough estimate. I pointed out all the rotted spots in the old roof, and how new gutters are needed to divert water from the basement. Working backwards: They missed the repair of one large hole that was later completed by another company, who also rehung Brax's gutter install, which pulled away from the soffit after about two years. Animals got in. Water got in. I had to replace the entire ceiling in the back room due to water damage. There is already a rusted gutter installed by Brax right over the steps, making icy steps and drippy messes, 5 yrs old been that way for at least 2. There was a leak from improper roofing shingle placement and it stained/swelled the ceiling in the bathroom. When Brax came out to see it, they tried to talk me into the wrong location. Gutters were so improperly installed that they did not even catch the water from the roof, but instead poured into the basement, creating a flood. Brax had to come and redo the entire thing. They did not reinstall the long diverting gutters, as asked. They stomped over a lot of landscaping. I am sorry they were ever here. And now they send emails like a bad boyfriend. They send over emails giving updates as to where they are in the process of taking care of the roof repair or replacement. Ours was replaced. Brandon did a great job of coming over whenever we needed him to check something out on the roof so that we could have the best shingle color match. He followed up with the insurance company so that we could try to get help with our insurance and he communicated with them, he was quick to submit the estimate, always on top of his game! We are extremely happy with Brax Roofing. From the start, Ben responded very quickly to my Yelp quote request and coordinated a next day visit to check out some gutter problems we've been having (poor installation, overpour during heavy rains, gutter covers, etc.). Initially, they estimated a full gutter replacement at a fair price. On installation day, they discovered some major issues with the shingles and gutters that it couldn't be replaced; they found an alternative solution and proposed that we fix specific spots facing overpour issues instead of paying an exorbitant cost of fixing the entire house. He was very honest about pricing and what we did/didn't need to do. In addition, he voluntarily came out multiple times to check things out. Often times, I feel like managers greet you once and peace out for the entire installation and payment process, but Ben and Boris were here to check up on us every step of the way. it was nice to get a personal response often and quickly from him. On the second installation day (to fix targeted areas), the team discovered a way to carefully pull off our old gutters, fix all the problems and install brand new gutters around the ENTIRE house. Not to mention, the people installing it did it within an hour...amazing! Brax really tried hard to make our original wish happen - and now we have beautiful, well-installed gutters around the house. I am highly disappointed in my experience with this roofing company. I have a loose fascia board in my house and Damon came out for an estimate...after me sending multiple messages on Yelp and calling the office multiple times. Since there was a birds nest in the opening caused by the fascia board I wanted to ensure the nest was removed so the bird would not be trapped in my house. The nest was cleared out and after another round of multiple messages and calls (this company was so quick to take the deposit so I felt obligated to continue the job) I was able to schedule a service for Wednesday, June 19., weather permitting. Victor mentioned to me that if there were concerns because we would know early in the morning. The service was scheduled to begin at 9:00am. AT 8:50 I WAS CONTACTED. No regard for what was said. No regard for the fact my fiancée and I spent time out of our jobs to stay home (due to he fact I've twice had to call multiple times to get somewhere with BRAX I did not trust them to do the job unless one of us was at the house). Unacceptable. I get the weather concerns...but to call at 8:50 for a 9:00am start time...and to cancel...that's the end of my business relationship with this company following the eventual completion of this project. The manager Ben had to call me to ensure someone will come first thing tomorrow. They better I am disappointed in my experience. They are scheduled to come tomorrow and complete the job. I'd advise those looking for a roofing company to go elsewhere. Right now I'm $200 in the hole and I'm not sure when someone is coming to fix the loose fascia board. UPDATE 6/20 Due to the timeliness of the crews arrival and the quality of their work I am raising my review up to 3 stars. We spoke with James who kindly and thoroughly explained our situation and made a recommendation that we would be better off maintaining and keeping an eye on our very expensive, very new roof, as opposed to ripping it up 15 years years early to address minor pooling that our roofing material is more than capable of withstanding. They're easy to work with overall although you need to keep on them sometimes on some followup. A previous roofing company caused extensive damage from water leaks in my house by their extensive delays and completely ignored my calls after they took my money and did a shoddy job in repairing only one damaged collar!! Brax Roofing was highly recommended to me by the management office in the complex in which I reside. Brax Roofing is a highly professional company that PROVIDED OUTSTANDING customer service to me. From my initial meeting with Scott Peterson who came to my house to access the damage and to set up an appointment for repairs was on Wednesday. Scott recognized my need for immediate service to roof because of leaking pipes. I was thoroughly satisfied that Scott understood that time was of the essence since the weather forecasted heavy rains forthcoming. Scott had relayed urgent message to Danielle Huges, who set up the appointment in same week for repairs. The worker came out on that Saturday and located not one but two more additional pipes that needed repair. Danielle called me while roofers were on roof as she told me of their findings. I agreed to have them to take care of additional pipe collars while they were already on roof. Danielle kept me informed from start to finish. I contacted BRAX on April 10th and scheduled an estimate for April 18th at 3:00 pm. I received a call from Shawn (the person who was supposed to complete our estimate) saying he needed to push back our appointment to 5:00 pm. Fine - stuff happens but he didn't show up until 5:20 pm. While we were introducing ourselves and telling him what we needed he answered a call from another customer without even saying "Hey. Sorry to interrupt, but I need to take this call really quick." He just cut us off and answered it. He looked at our skylight and told us it would need to be replaced. When I scheduled the appointment they asked me to confirm roof access because we live in a condo and they needed to know what kind of ladder to bring. Shawn admitted he had a ladder in the van but didn't feel like getting it and asked if we had a ladder that was tall enough. We did not so he didn't even go on to the roof to properly access what would be needed. He then proceeded to give us a verbal quote and we thanked him but told him we would need to discuss our options with our realtor since we are in the process of selling our home (the entire point of the estimate). We even advised him that we have another roofing company coming out next week and that we wouldn't make a decision about anything until we got our second estimate. It then felt like we were at a used car dealership. He offered to give us a phone number for a friend (Martin) that paints homes at discounted rates if we accepted his BRAX quote for the skylight replacement. "I'll tell you this, I'll give you martins contact info if you agree to have us do your replacement tonight." We told him no. He then started to make some phone calls to see if he could get his quote down but received a call from his wife reminding him that he needed to walk the dog. As soon as he realized we weren't going to sign or commit anything he said he had to leave and would email us our quote later. We didn't get anything from him Wednesday or Thursday so I followed up with a text on Friday at 2:00 pm. It's Wednesday and still nothing. We had a great experience setting up the appointment and talking to Shian at the beginning of the process, but our in home estimate experience was a mess. read more
