I trained at BVB during my last year of college and found the atmosphere very motivating! I did CrossFit when it was offered and transitioned to weightlifting later on. The weightlifting platforms all were in awesome condition, as well as the plates and Eleiko bars. Chalk is available and restrooms were always clean as well. I'm not a power lifter but the powerlifters at this gym all seemed very satisfied with the equipment specifically for powerlifting. There's also a ton of great strength building equipment (dumbbells, kettlebells, reverse hyper matching, etc etc). The gym had two rowers and two bikes, but no treadmills (luckily there's like the outdoors for those who just have to run). I found it to be an awesome facility in general, and I came out of this gym with several new best friends. I seriously love BVB. I've been a member since December. I'm a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter, and the gym literally has all the state-of-the-art equipment you could possibly ever need. The staff are always friendly and the members are constantly trying to make one another better. Most of the lifters are in the college-aged range. Keep in mind this is a facility designed for olympic weightlifters and powerlifters (we don't need stair steppers y'all). It's not a 24 Hour Fitness or Planet Fitness; it's a barbell gym. The best gym I've personally ever been to. You can't beat the equipment bar-none, what Gold's Gym or other carries competition kilo plates for powerlifting & oly lifting? On top of the certified equipment the atmosphere of the gym is untouchable. I love the fact it's not a commercial gym, and is set up as such. No elevator music and no waiting for a squat rack or bench. Also coaching is untouchable in regards to quality. Oly, Powerlifting, and even Strongman coaches. The place literally has anything and everything you could ever want- and if this wasn't enough, the place has 24/7 access for all members. This gym is specialized in Powerlifting and Weightlifting, which makes it unlike the majority of your commercial gyms. Everyone who goes is extremely friendly, and won't hesitate to help if you need a spot or form check. As a student, the Rec is always full, and lacks many of the equipment items needed for adequate powerlifting training. At BVB, you have the freedom and space to perform. There is no better gym in the area and I'd argue that Barbell meets or exceeds the offerings of most gyms in major cities. It's worth the drive to check it out. David's coaching is the best. This gym isn't for everybody but if you're looking for a powerlifting gym, this is the place to go. I've gone a hand full of times and I loved it more and more, staff is laid back and very nice and helpful. On the other hand membership is a bit pricey for not having a wide range of workout machines (cardio/accessory) but like I said, it's more of a powerlifting gym.
