Great place! Opens at 8am! Gluten Free Bread for breakfast or sandwiches, finally more restaurants are getting gluten free bread. It's really not that hard for establishments, all they have to do is freeze the bread and when they need it pop it in the toaster and ready to go, it's not like we don't pay more for the option so just put it in the freezer! I had bacon and eggs with gluten free bread and it was good for $9. So maybe a little expensive but ok. It located on the corner of Elm and Murray st just west of University. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating was because for Toronto and the location 8am is too late to open, they should be open at minimum 7am. Overall good food service with a smile. What else do you want?

Okay soup but the wrong temperature.

Stopped by after work looking for soup and was immediately greeted right up beside me by the owner asking what I wanted. Whoas, there is good service, but then there is a pressure to make a decision fast. Luckily I knew exactly what I wanted and got a broccoli small soup for 5.65 after tax. The soup came 3/4 full in a paper takeaway container but on a china plate with a plastic spoon. A weird mix of materials in a single place but okay. The soup itself bland except for the large chunks of black pepper floating around. I might have still liked it if it wasn't for the fact that it came tepid. I like my soup hot and this didn't even approach the right temperature. Disappointed.

One of the worst places I have been to. The customer service here is HORRIBLE. I will start off with a few pros to this place cause I have many cons. PROS: This restaurant is located in front of mount Sinai hospital and is very spacious. Lots of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. The space itself looked trendy and modern. I got a veggie grilled wrap which was good, flavour wise once I added in the chipotle sauce. CONS: The pricing here is ridiculous. I understand it's downtown so Of course the prices will be jacked up but wow my veggie wrap was $11.50 and it wasn't even a big wrap it was small. I was not allowed to add an additional toppings either (it was additional charge for every topping so I did not get any). The veggie wrap was good but only cause I added an additional sauce (chipotle). The wrap is small is not worth $11 and is super dry as they only add humus. It includes only grilled veggies which were kinda oily. The rest of the items on their list also looked super expensive so I was not thrilled about that. I could have just went to the Freshii nearby for that price. Aside from the food, which I could have dealt with... the customer service was beyond dissatisfying. This older woman who worked there (Wednesday in the evenings), was completely rude. They had a napkin tray to get napkins and I got 1 NAPKIN which is not enough when eating... and when I went to grab a second piece of napkin she questioned me asking if it was necessary to get more. When I told her one was definitely not enough and I needed at least 1 more she TOLD ME just one was enough for the wrap lol. Then I said please I would like another and asked if she minded and she said yes she minded and TOOK AWAY THE TRAY..... LOL. I don't understand what kind of customer service this was and they weren't even busy it was literally only me in the restaurant. So I was confused why she was being stingy and petty for?! I wasn't even grabbing 10 napkins I JUST WANTED 2 pieces!! I told her that this wasn't the way to treat customers and she should be more nicer to her customers if she wanted them coming back. Overall, I won't be coming back due to the rude lady and expensive prices. Please get kinder employees who value customers.

This is my absolute favorite place in the heart of downtown town Toronto. Do you want breakfast? Or the best lunch you have ever had well this is the place to come. It's a little off the beaten path behind Mt. Sinai hospital they make everything fresh in house daily buy locally grown sustainable products. Their make your own pizza is the best I've ever had. Today I have the Western omelette. It's another I'll be addicted to. They also have many ways to pay like Foodora & PayPal.

Staff is wonderful, and nice but food wise is eh... I paid 10.15 for a large salad (5 veg toppings, 2 seeds) that isn't even half the size of the take out container... I had the breakfast special, sunny side up eggs: overdone and became fried, home fries: ok but small portion size, bacon, ok. Don't have a picture of that... paired it with a small chocolate milk and a pure leaf tea which was almost 15$ I've had better experiences in the past (a year AFO) from what I remember but today was below ideal.

Almond flour walnut square and picture of the Bread and Bowl. Good and tasty choices. Mmmmm

A a first timer and taking a quick later lunch break while caring for a loved one in the hospital, the Bread and Bowl restaurant offered a calm and friendly atmosphere, with good service. The food is very fresh and delicious. The salad and dessert were both healthy and tasty. Their almond flour walnut square with honey was a good choice as was the Niçoise salad. Good choices for people who are wheat free. I'd have that again for sure and I'd like to try something else like their sandwiches during a future lunch. Their daily specials look great as do their soup selections. Clearly there is a regular clientele who is recognized and thanked for their business when they leave. I had a good experience.

Homemade Tomato Soup and Chicken Club Sandwich

I've tried the homemade tomato soup and Chicken Club sandwich. It was the best tomato soup I've ever had. Also bun of the sandwich is homemade and very delicious. They have the best customer service and stuff are nice. If you compare it to the other places, it's very competitive price for the home made food.

This small little bake shop had a menu hanging up, but I completely ignored it thanks to the baked goods right behind the counter that I was too busy staring at. I knew right away that I was going to order a Chocolate Croissant because, well, I always order a Chocolate Croissant if one is available. After making my first choice, this strange little baked good caught my eye, and it turned out to be something called a Cruffin.......a Cruffin you say? What is a cruffin? WELL, let me tell you. The cruffin is basically like a muffin, but like, with cheese and pepperoni on it so obviously I hate to order that sexy little bad boy right away. This thing wasn't big, but it was very dense and basically tasted like pizza crust which was absolutely delicious. After eating the cruffin, the Chocolate Croissant seemed way less cool but I ate it anyway. It tasted good and the chocolate was actually spread across the whole thing so they get an even bigger thumbs up for doing it right. Overall, COBS Bread was the spot! I had no idea this was a chain, but who cares, this place was great. I really liked the Cruffin I got and the croissant was really good as well. I will absolutely be revisiting COBS Bread when I come back to Canada and devouring a few more cruffins while I'm at it!

Here's a cinnamon bun, you know what it is lol. The one thing I'd say that will elevate this from a…read more5 to a 10 is if somehow they can get that glaze at the bottom of the bun to be i side of the bun. The interior is dry while the bottom and top is moist. It's height and width is too high and wide so any attempts to bite (to get that moist sweetness to mask the middle dryness) just guarantees a joker's smile of smeared sugar... so, overall a decent bun, but nothing you'd dream daily about. Want to also add the store is very well organized with their display of goods and the service is professional and efficient.

It blends a traditional Italian deli style with a modern downtown vibe and is known for fresh panini made with quality meats and ingredients, many imported from Italy. We tried their "Il Padrino" and "Capricciosa" panini, and both stood out with crispy fresh bread and a great balance of mortadella, prosciutto, salami, cheese, veggies, and sauces. The combination of fresh bread, curated deli meats, and flavorful sauces gives each sandwich a really nice touch. Besides sandwiches, they also carry Italian-style groceries like pasta, cheeses, desserts, and drinks, which makes the visit feel like a quick trip to a small Italian market. It's a great stop if you're looking for a simple but high-quality lunch in the Harbord Village area.

Blink and you'll miss this one! It's down some steps and features so outdoor seating as well. I was intrigued when I heard that another Italian cafe/sandwich shop opened near the Annex/Harbord Village. They have a variety of panini style sandwiches with a fridge/freezer of imported items such as frozen meals, meats, dried and spreads, sauces, cake slices and gelato! All the sandwiches sound delicious! Hard to choose! I went with the Alla Romana $16 (Prosciutto from Abruzzo Italy, Semi-dried cherry tomatoes, Balsamic glaze, Fior di Latte). The bread was crusty & warm - all quality ingredients!! The prosciutto & other topping were plentiful. Great flavours. Fresh! You can tell it was made with care. I was surprised at how big the sandwich was. It was cut in two & placed in a take away container which travelled well. The sandwich was still intact and perfect when I got home. The bread has a good crust but was soft inside to be a good compliment for the filling! I did get a piece of tiramisu & a small single serve cup of gelato from the fridge/freezer to be tried later!! I am a big fan of sandwiches with quality great & quality filling and this checks off the boxes. Staff was friendly and the sandwich is a good value given the top quality ingredients. If you've been to Italy you will appreciate inspired sandwiches & pantry items! Quite a few tables to sit down and enjoy your sandwich with a cold or hot beverage. They have a TV with the Olympics on too! The sandwich picture doesn't do it justice! Go see for yourself!! :)

Looking for a Sandwich place that is different, cutting edge and makes your taste buds melt? Well…read morethis is not your place! I'm going to continue with my overtime take out review series with Sandwich Box. You would think making a sandwich is probably not the most complicated task out there, but this place seems to get it all wrong. My order consisted of an egg salad sandwich on whole grain bread with a side salad. When I received it, I only got the sandwich and the restaurant failed to tell me the salad was no longer included in the combo (yet the price remained the same). That's great that the online menu was not updated to include items no longer available, a simple update would address all these problems knowmsayin? Now on to the actual sandwich, the bread was thick. I mean so thick it looked like there was about a half an inch of eggs inside of two encyclopedias worth of bread. The eggs themselves, totally flavorless and bland. Kinda hard to mess up an egg salad sandwich right? Even Tim Horton's can get that right! To make things short and sweet, I'll be looking over this option the next time I'm working late or considering a sandwich in the downtown area.

I agree that the price for a sandwich plus side salad is quite pricey ($13 including tax) but I like the fact that everything tastes fresh and light, and you have alot of options to customize your sandwich in a healthy way. I ordered the rosemary focaccia with chicken breast, arugula, avocado and chipotle spread plus their usual sprinkle of salt, pepper and squeeze of lime. It's like a gourmet sandwich - the bread was thick, soft with hints of rosemary and yummy. The salad was mostly arugula with carrots- this was very lightly seasoned but at least I won't be hit with itis going back to work! Definitely would come again, although not regularly since it's kinda pricey.
