We visited Congdon's Doughnuts this morning and had a great experience. Even though there was a…read moreline out the door, it moved quickly and we waited less than 10 minutes for our iced coffees and a half dozen donuts. The staff were efficient and friendly, and everything came out fresh. Congdon's has a really nice variety of donuts, muffins, and other baked goods, and everything we tried was delicious. The blueberry fritter was the star crisp on the outside, soft inside, and packed with blueberry flavor. I would absolutely recommend it. They also offer a sit‑down breakfast with classic options like breakfast sandwiches and French toast, so it's a good spot whether you just want coffee and a box of donuts or a full morning meal. Overall, great service, excellent donuts, and definitely worth the short wait. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

They have long lines that move very quickly, lots of self-seating available indoors and outdoors, and a very cute patio area and some photo-ops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a half dozen donuts to try: the maple glazed, chocolate glazed, strawberry frosted, chocolate creme filled, glazed, and a blueberry fritter. The fritter was the favorite of the group, followed by the maple (iconic Maine flavors!) We would definitely skip the chocolate and the strawberry frosted next time and opt to try some other fritter flavors.

Only one out of the three was warm, and none of the three had that must-have croissant crackle that leaves crumbs all over your shirt. More of a dish rag feel here. On the plus side, the everything croissant had really good flavor and the chocolate croissant was buttery. Unfortunately, same texture as what you get at Starbucks. Maybe it was an off day? Not bad, but if you've had the croissants at Belleville in Portland or a handful of shops in Boston, this doesn't compare.

But the strawberry rhubarb pie - OMG- was out of this world! After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. Typically for grocery shopping my wife and I will go to Hannaford and when we are feeling like grabbing some bread we always go with When Pigs Fly sourdough. The prices may be higher than some of the larger brands but the quality is far superior from When Pigs Fly. Having a piece of their usual sourdough or cinnamon raisin sourdough for breakfast with some butter or sunflower butter is a perfect addition to breakfast! Coming here to the company store was even better with many more options for flavors of sourdough including some seasonal loaves. We actually snagged a current seasonal they had which was Blueberry Raspberry Lemonade Bread. Bought it yesterday and had it for a delicious breakfast this morning! Will make some French toast with it later in the week as well! They have a variety of other items, some their brands and some other brands available for purchase as well! From sourdoughs to really unique sweet and savory breads, it was really hard to make a decision! We went with a rustic loaf to bring home and enjoyed it all week long.
