Some were, some weren't. But fortunately, Big Daddy's were! And to prove it, there was one helluva healthy line of customers waiting to get their frozen fix in a cup or a cone. They have around 50 ice cream flavors, plus some sorbets, sherberts, and yogurts. We were so intrigued by one of their flavors that we both ordered it. I mean, c'mon, when have you ever seen Banana Chocolate Chip on a menu? It was excellent. Smooth and creamy with a definite banana flavor and plenty of chocolate chips. A Kiddie portion was a pricey $6.95, but in all fairness, that Kiddie portion was equal in size to some of the "small" scoops we've had over the years at various ice cream joints. Big Daddy has four locations in the Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport area, so if you're up this way during the summer, you won't be too far from experiencing an experience with Big Daddy! read more

We stopped in for the famous Maine blueberry pie ice cream and it was INCREDIBLE! Our son ordered the "kid sized" sugar cone and it was huge! I also ordered the strawberry frappe and it was very good as well. The service was very fast and friendly. The outside has plenty of parking and picnic benches to sit while you enjoy. We stopped here after reading some amazing reviews and I must say that we weren't disappointed by the flavors. The ice cream was rich and flavorful and not very hard on the pocket as well. We loved the amazing flavors which were freshly made. Its a small place where you order at the window and they serve you at the next one. I am not sure if they have seating as well. There are some outdoor benches though. There was a queue when we reached here and rightly so. The blueberry pie seems to be the favorite among the locals and it tasted great. The portion was huge, we all ordered two scoops and realized it was too much to finish The only reason I am giving a 4 star was because my wife had ordered chocolate peanut butter flavor and was served chocolate chip and when we asked the servers they were rude about it and blamed it on us. Also, the servers did not have any idea if these ice creams had eggs in them. Overall definitely a must-try for the creaminess and fresh flavors but keep a good eye on what you order or else you might be served something different and you will be held responsible for it read more

We did not realize there are two locations! We visited the one in Ogunquit a couple weeks ago and it was PHENOMENAL! Last year we visited the one in Elms (past Wells). The homemade ice cream and range of flavors is out of this world! My son ordered a flight and a small (hey, it's vacation, right?) and he couldn't finish it all so we all got to enjoy tasting the different flavors that he chose. The coffee is like tasting a strong brew with cream and sugar. It's like eating an iced coffee - delicious! The other three flavors were cookies and cream, cherry amaretto I think, and peanut butter cup. Whoa! I can't get over how delicious. The caramel pavan crunch (I think that's what it was called?) is what I ordered and my oh my, I'm glad I only ordered a small. I could eat about three larges. LOL. My husband had a brownie sundae. Such a classic but this time, the homemade ice cream really elevated it. He was in love. You really should stop by for a visit. You cannot ever be disappointed. Great stop for ice cream, it was expensive but even the smalls are enormous. Next time I'd probably just split a small with someone, as they seem on board with adding 2 flavors to one cup but the sign does say 1 flavor only (maybe your scooper will be more agreeable). Make sure to bring cash. There is some seating outside and seemingly always a long line to order when it's hot out. Luckily the line moved quickly. There is a huge list of flavors, so inspect them before it's your time to order. I got the bourbon maple pecan which tastes a bit like a butter pecan but with a more intense flavor and a bit of a kick and the Maine blueberry. Both were great, but the blueberry was both unique and out of this world! A great flavor to try while in Maine. There is also a Maine blueberry pie which I was also curious about.
