What a great way to start the day with a coffee from Backyard. I absolutely LOVE this place! This Sunday visit was packed yet the wait to order and receive my food was minimal. My latte was absolutely spot on and went down very smoothly. It was cool, so sitting outside was not a great idea and the tables inside were full of festive coffee drinkers, so I took mine to go. Otherwise, when it is quieter, the sitting area is quite eclectic in décor that can keep your interest for some time. Ogunquit for the most part is still quite a seasonal town. That being said, Backyard is one of the first retailers to close in October (usually Columbus/Indigenous Day weekend) so if you arrive after then you will be met with disappointment. read more

Tucked in at the corner of a parking lot off of a main street, Backyard offers a good selection of pastries and sandwiches, coffee and tea and soft drinks. My boyfriend and I stopped here before exploring Ogunquit beach and the marginal way. The staff here were very friendly. It was pretty busy here but the service was quick. I got the blueberry maple latte and my boyfriend got an iced Vietnamese latte. We both really enjoyed our drinks, perfect amount of sweetness and the coffee itself was great. Loved this spot! Dog friendly patio outside and great options for breakfast or lunch. I absolutely loved the "Emerald Melt" which was ham, cheese and pistachio pesto on an English muffin and I added an egg. Absolute perfect breakfast sandwich! Great place for breakfast or lunch. We stopped here after being at the beach for a few hours. Parking kind of stinks, but they do have a small lot, as well as a small metered parking lot next to it. The Girl at the counter wasn't very friendly, but she took our order properly. I'm sure everyone gets tired with the endless tourist that visit this town. Food came out quickly and was fresh. Everything was great! The coffee was delicious and my BLT hit the spot. The little guy even enjoyed the bacon. This was a good spot to grab a quick lunch with the little one. Driving up on the way to Portland for the day with some friends we found this wonderful place packed with so many people and surprisingly parking was easy! The staff take orders fast and pump out the food just as fast. Not only does the food come quick but it's so tasty from food to drinks and pastries. We even took some pastries for the road. Adorable coffee house open early 7 am on Sunday morning in Olgonquit saves the day after terrible hotel coffee! Cute place, well staffed with friendly and very quick service. Has cute outdoor side patio with greenery and flowers. Also have a delicious gluten free Flourless breakfast cookie full of fruit and nuts with a smattering of dark chocolate and sea salt. The website shows prices but when you go in the store the actual prices are $5 higher. I asked the question and it didn't seem to concern anyone or make anyone think it's a customer service issue. This is a great coffee house with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee and strawberry biscuit I had were delicious. I would have given this five stars but their hours are limited. We were staying in Ogunquit and had our breakfast there on a Monday and wanted to eat there again on Tuesday but we found out they're only open four days a week. I'm not sure why since it is still August and still peek tourist season. read more

This spot is always very busy in the summer. Occasionally I have stopped in to grab a bagel or a muffin to go. They are very organized and when you consider how many people are in here for specialty coffee drinks, sandwiches etc. There isn't a long wait. read more

This place is popular and had a line out the door. The wait to order wasn't too bad, , however, they did not make the one coffee drink we ordered and so were waiting quite a while (well after people that ordered after us were served) before having to ask about the status, and only then did they pull up the receipt and start making it. Cute eatery in downtown Ogunquit perfect for a quick coffee, tea, pastry or sandwich. Ambiance is great, they sell Bard coffee (a local Portland roaster) and had a fair selection of breakfast as well as lunch options. This is counter service and then you can select a seat inside, outside or take your order to go. I enjoyed a breakfast sandwich on a everything bagel which paired with an ice coffee was exactly what I needed to start my day. Around the side there is plentiful seating to relax and slow down. There is some limited parking in front but a short 5 minute walk there is a public parking lot. read more

While I had high expectations for this place after seeing the great reviews on yelp, I was really disappointed with my coffee. On my drive back to Massachusetts, I ordered a cortado with oat milk to go, and realized that the milk had curdled! This usually happens when the barista heats up the milk too hot. I was already on my way home, and realized it was too late to turn around. Ended up just throwing the drink out. Hopefully next time I am in the area the drinks will be better! read more

My wife and I have been meaning to stop by and try this place for a couple years every time we visit Ogunquit. We finally went today. The ambiance is pretty awesome. Rustic wood and metal furniture. It feels like a true backyard coffee house. The scone was great, very buttery. The coffee wasn't that great. My wife and I ordered flavor shots and neither one of us could tell they were there. For 80 cents extra per cup of coffee, I'd like to know the flavor is there. Also, BE CAREFUL during checkout.. The girl ringing us up pressed the 18% tip button before she swung the screen our way and said, "I just need you to sign here." I noticed the added tip of 18% (more than 3 dollars in my case) as I was finishing signing. I thought that was a very sneaky and dishonest way of getting tips. I wonder how many have signed not realizing this. I did just see other reviews mentioning the sneaky 18% tip as well. Some said it was a "take out" tip. My wife and I ordered to stay and eat, though. So we can say we tried it, but I think Backyard was better in our imaginations than in our actual experience. I gave 2 stars for the ambiance and atmosphere. We didn't get a chance to try the salads or sandwiches (hopefully those are better, they looked pretty good). read more

I discovered this lovely little cafe last year when I was looking at an art exhibit in the parking lot. From what I could recall, it is in the same location that the bicycle shop was in - nice repurposing. I had the a lovely blood orange hibiscus iced tea and a delicious blueberry scone. When you are in a resort town and conveniently located, it can be very easy to phone in your products. Delighted to say, this establishment does not do that. This year I found myself coming more often because my favorite place in the Cove closed (they paved paradise and put up a condo), I found they still have the same quality and I was able to explore more with the morning menu. I guess I will have to keep coming back year after year to finally get to their lunch menu - I will just have to sacrifice myself. read more

Popped into Backyard for a casual breakfast - it totally hit the spot. I ordered an iced coffee - which is local Bard - and an egg and cheese on brioche. They're a busy shop, but everything came out pretty timely. The coffee was so good, flavorful, and refreshing. I added a bit of milk and a touch of the simple syrup they conveniently offered. I do hate stirring in granulated sugar so this was a nice touch. We settled into the patio seating on the side of the building and opened my sandwich. My brioche bun was fluffy and the eggs were perfect. Everyone in the group loved the option of hot sauce and ketchup. I'd definitely come back for a nice to go option in the area. read more

Visited for breakfast in our recent trip to Ogunquit. Great location slightly away from the main circle easily reachable without traffic. We had avacado toast quantity is ample. Nice touch with tomatoes and sprinkled rock salt. We were traveling with our dog and loved how this place welcomes the dog in outdoor setting. Loved the place and will definitely stop by again!
