The one bite of ice cream I had was delicious. My son is super mean and despite all the ice cream places we go, god forbid mommy wants a bite lol. Been going to this place off and on since 2011. Went in tonight with someone for their first visit and the person at the cash register was one of the worst customer service folks I've encountered in a while. She was not personable and her facial expressions said it all. I get it may be a summer job and we came in 30 mins before it closes with my friend asking some questions about the menu with it being his first time, but wow maybe this job isn't for you. If my business, and you're the face of it, you'd be gone. Otherwise, ice cream was great as usual. (Update : I changed the review from 2 stars to 4 stars as the business owner did what great leaders always do and addressed the situation immediately and professionally. Ice cream with unique blend of flavors in a cozy creamery in downtown Ogunquit . Friendly staff . Quick service good size scoops and delectable flavors . Blackberry with white chocolate chips and raspberry with dark chocolate chips , a perfect marriage of berries and chocolate makes it a marriage made in Ogunquit . I shared it but still devoured it till the last bit . Not too sweet , real berry flavors and the choco chip bits in every bite makes an incredible mouthful of ice cream goodness . We were visiting Ogunquit and decided to hit up Sweet Pea's for ice cream. It's a small shop, but they have a nice variety of flavors. I picked the mint Oreo flavor, which was fantastic. I added hot fudge, which was high quality. They also have a variety of sundaes designed for kids. The other nice thing is that all chocolate and rainbow jimmies are a free topping. It has a great location near the water, so you can grab your ice cream and walk along the beautiful scenic path. read more

Iconic local ice cream spot!! Located in the heart of DT, often times there will be a line here (which is how you know it's good). They get all their ice cream from a well known local dairy place. You can tell the ice cream quality is good here. I went for a more unique/different flavor I hadn't really seen anywhere else. I got the size small but did half blueberry pie and half main black bear. I saw you can also get a sampler which had 3 choices for you. They were super generous with the portions, which I appreciated. Although the line was long they were able to keep the lines moving. Don't forget to ask for the free rainbow/chocolate sprinkles. Prices are about reasonable for the quality and size you are getting. You pay extra for the cones and any addition toppings. I would return to try some other unique Maine flavors. read more

This shop is tiny! I think four people can fit inside at a time but that's irrelevant. The line was about 10 people long when we joined it and even though there was a sign saying things moved slowly due covid/staffing we felt it actually moved quite quickly. They were not serving any milkshakes in an effort to further speed things along. The Death by Chocolate (dark chocolate ice cream with milk chocolate twirl, chocolate chips and decadent fudge brownies) was every bit as great as it sounds. Very smooth ice cream, rich with flavor it not overpowering. Green Monster (I'm guessing tribute to Fenway Park's famed left field wall) was incredible - and that's coming from a Yankee fan. Mint ice cream with Oreos and a fudge swirl - so flavorful but not overpowering, huge chunks of cookie, simple a great scoop! read more

Not for its popularity or anything- but if you're in need of nice ice cream flavor options and a last minute nighttime, rainy day or any day craving, this might be your answer. This place is small. Just small. And because of COVID, there are restrictions on how many folks are allowed inside. There's plastic film hung from the ceiling to limit germs when you place order/pay as well as plastic by their ice cream selection. Prices are fair. Ice cream is fresh and creamy. Didn't pick up on any freezer burn taste or feel. With an empty ice cream shop, hubs and I waited more than 5 minutes. But a young girl doing double-duty, entered Sweet Pea's from a gift shop directly next door using a shared door space and immediately took our order. Maybe a buzzer should be put in place that'll let her know when customers are ready to order up? Other than that, nice place if you have a sweet-tooth. read more

I contimplated giving this shop a higher rating due to the shop being adorably cute and the staff being totally AWESOME, but this is about the quality and taste of the ice cream and this shop fell very short. Although they had some creative combinations of flavors, the ice cream itself was bland. It had some texture elements with the fudge and the mini peanut butter cups, but honestly the base ice cream was lack luster which made the experience of eating the ice cream not all that exciting. I have had similar flavor in store bought cartons of Moose Tracks (the ice cream I ordered). I had much higher expectation of the ice cream, and I am not sure they actually make their own ice cream (the webiste doesn't say and I didn't ask when I was there), but it needs some work on the flavor profile for sure. The price is average ($14.90 for a child scoop and a regular scoop +tip) and the scoops are relatively nice size (I forgot to snap a pic). I had the Moose Tracks and my spouse had lemon sorbet. If you are looking for full bodied flavor this isn't really that kind of ice-cream shop, but if you like Cold Stone style texture this place has some of that texture combination which is fun and interesting. read more

After visiting The Front Porch and Piano Bar we decided to stroll down to Sweet Pea's for Richardson's ice cream as dessert. Plenty of flavors to choose from but we overwhelming decided on death by chocolate and the black bear both with waffle cones. The black bear was black raspberry ice cream with chocolate pieces and chocolate truffle cups. Incredible flavors! The death by chocolate with chocolate ice cream and chocolate pieces, chocolate swirl and decadent fudge brownie pieces. Another winner! Good quality ice cream but they aren't consistent with hours...they will be closed when their sign says they should be opened. Service is slow so be prepared to wait in line when they are open. We also find they aren't great about restocking things like fudge and other toppings. read more

There was a line when i got there and i remember thinking to myself that this better be worth the wait. AND IT SO WAS! The ice cream was so creamy and it wasn't excessively sweet. Because this is great ice cream unlike the stuff in your grocers freezer. Made nearby in i believe New Hampshire. Tonight i was luck to only be 5th on line but don't worry about the line. They have it down to a science here and it moves fast. 2 huge scoops for just over $5. Personal faves: Almond something or other which is coconut ice cream with chocolate and almond flavor. This place has phenomenal ice cream in a ton of creative and Maine-inspired flavors. I opted for Death by Chocolate as it included fudge brownies (!!), chocolate chips, and a fudge swirl. The highlight was certainly the delicious and chewy fudge brownies, but I loved the overall texture with the chips and swirl as well. The cookie dough is also fantastic--it would be my second choice for the amazing cookie dough bites! The shop is very small, so try to find a bench outside or eat it while walking. The service was just okay. I think the girls working there probably have their work cut out for them in the summer months with so many tourists, but they seemed generally unhappy. Also, when they switched roles (one was scooping, one was cashier), I think I ended up with less ice cream than my girlfriend as there was a lot of space left in my cup.
