Absolute worst food delivery experience of my life. Ordered at 4:45 with an expected delivery of approximately 6pm. Cycled through 3 delivery drivers and ultimately cancelled the order at 7:30 since it still wasn't ready to pick up. Wanted to support this business but absolutely not at this cost. And to top it off the kept telling multiple drivers 5 more minutes until they left. If you're that busy just don't take delivery orders and ruin peoples plans for dinner with friends. Have only ordered catering previously so decided to dine in. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived. We were seated right away, they bring you bottles of water immediately without asking if you want tap or bottle. The bottles are $2.49/ bottle. We waited some time till they approached us to take our order. The mantu was alright, the dumpling was a little hard around the edges but the filling was good. The chicken tandoori plate was good, the rice and chicken were flavourful. We also got the chicken tandoori sandwich, I wasn't expecting it to be in a tortilla, I had assumed it was a naan. It was alright, the chicken itself was good, I didn't like the tortilla as it became soggy very quickly. The service was slow, sandwich arrived much after the plate, had they had informed us it was on the way, it wouldn't matter. We had to approach them to ask if it was still coming. No one checked in on us during meal, we wanted to order something else but decided not to. read more

We tried authentic Afghan cuisine at Bread and Salt in Mississauga recently.  Here's what we tried - Tandoori Tikka, Chicken Seekh, BBQ Basa, Kabuli Palow, Naan, Limonada, Mango Smoothie My favorites were the kebabs - chicken seekh was melt in the mouth delicious. And it paired perfectly with the giant Afghan style naan.  Everything came on a giant platter and it said it served two people, but the portion size is huge. Every once in a while a restaurant delivers such a nice dining experience that it becomes a favourite spot, this location of Bread & Salt on Dundas Street near Dixie is an almost weekly ritual, I've been coming here for over a year now the meat is so tender, and the staff are always a pleasure to be served by, the food and service is consistently good! They have just introduced a buffet starting Friday so I will be back this Friday , price is great and though not licensed they have a good beverage mix to select from. And while the meals are ample portions if I had room I'd eat the dessert but I'm always full by the end of my meal - because their fresh baked naan is delicious and hard to resist finishing that off! read more

Actually quite enjoyed the ambience in here. The menu was also structured for sharing for the most part. The food itself was quite tasty, and portions were decent as well. Tried quite a spread of different things to sample, though only ended up taking one picture unfortunately. All of it was great. I'd been curious about Bread & Salt for quite a while, especially since it seemed like a pretty large ethnic joint for a big-box-store plaza. We showed up in the early afternoon on a Friday and the place was pretty empty, so we snagged a surprisingly large booth. I wasn't especially hungry, so we decided to order one of the large-looking meals and share that. They have one called the Chef's Special ("Tandoori Tikka + Chaplee Kabob + Kabuli Palow. Sweet & Spicy flavour explosion. Served with Kabuli Palow, Salad & Naan Bread"), so that seemed like the thing to get. It arrived maybe 20 minutes later and indeed it was quite a bit of food. I immediately took a bite out of the Tandoori Tikka and was pretty much blown away. It's just so flavorful and the spice level is just right. The chicken wasn't dry, either, which is no small feat. I moved on to the Chaplee Kabob and it was just as good, particularly when eaten with the two included sauces. And the rice that everything is sitting on is terrific, as well. Very moist and full of flavor, and I really enjoyed the sauteed carrot on top. All in all, I would say Bread & Salt knocked my socks off. I'm excited to try more of their offerings. read more

My friend and I shared the chicken (grilled chicken) tikka and beef chaplee (spicy minced beef patties) plates which came with rice and fries (as we got one of each) and their sour cream/yogurt? and salsa dipping sauces. I loved the spices and how flavourful everything was. The naan were also really nice portions and complimented the plates well. Service was nice and our servers checked up on us a few times. Would have given a higher rating but I preferred if the food was hotter as the food was warm at best. Had to come by after seeing the impressive photos of the long pieces of naan. Came and ordered the the lamb shank plate and tandoor chicken dinner plate (both came with salad and naan). The naan did not disappoint--I've never had naan which such a crispy exterior, it actually reminded of me pizza crust. The lamb shank was cooked well and easy to pull off the bone but it was pretty salty. Came with a spicy tomato chutney which had a strong kick (but bearable and addicting). The star of the show was the tandoor chicken. I have not had tandoor chicken this tender, moist, and well-spiced since the time I've been to India. The chicken was already seasoned so well that it didn't need the sauce, but the garlic sauce that it came with was also quite good. I'd recommend trying it with the naan--what a combo they make. Wouldn't get the lamb shank again but this chicken is 10/10 would get again. The ambience was also quite nice with modern decor and a clean spacious seating. Also parking is available and convenient since it's in a plaza right by Costco. If only I lived nearby, bread and salt would definitely be a place I'd want to regularly visit, especially since they have lunch specials on weekdays. read more

Searching for a suitable place to eat in the neighbourhood I was surprised to find an Afghan restaurant with a dedicated Vegan section. That very satisfying to see and made us try this restaurant out. The interior is decorated well with some pictures of Afghan personalities and some very nice paintings. Started with Vegan Dumplings - to make it vegan had yogurt on the side. They disappointed a bit as they were to tiny even for one. Too greasy for our taste. Tasted OK. The filling too less compared to the dumpling dough and made the taste too doughy. Had a Mixed Veggie and Qorma-e-Lubia (chickpeas and red kidney beans) dinner platters. They both came with rice and Afghani Naan. Borge the dishes tasted very nice with mild spices and perfectly seasoned. The taste is absolutely amazing however the oil quantity in both the dishes and rice was a downer for us. The naan on the hand was among the best freshest naan we have had. May be next time, we can replace the rice with naans. Also comes with a small salad which was simple and good. The service very good, but the staff does need to know what the vegan options are as the staff was a bit surprised we asked for vegan options. One extra star for keeping vegan options on the menu. Totally stunned by how delicious this was. Started with the aushak (leek) dumplings which were served with seasoned split peas and yogurt. Thin, delicate dumpling skins were cooked perfectly - would definitely eat again. The eggplant boorani was fantastic - tender eggplant smothered in an intense tomato sauce, drizzled with yogurt. A little but oily but perfect for wiping up with the naan. Lamb tikka and chicken tandoori tikka were both outstanding - perfectly tender chunks of well seasoned meat, served with a fragrant rice, salad, and fresh naan that's fluffy on the inside and perfectly crisp and chewy on the outside. Beef seekh (minced beef) skewer was probably the weakest dish (a bit bland and a bit dry). The garlic sauce and tomato chutney were both delicious. Hubby liked the garlic better; I liked the tomato chutney better. Both sauces complimented the flavour of the meats extremely well. Would defintely eat here again. read more

I have been to bread & salt before for dine in and loved the space offered. The details in decor is great and I also love how the menu is designed. I decided to order from there again very recently, since I haven't in a while and they also have a great offer for BOGO on some items on über eats right now. I've previously had most of the menu items and everything was delicious. I love their Bolani the most. On my most recent order, we got the bogo order for the lamb shanks and I was impressed by how well done the meat was. Portions were generous and taste was right on. I've been hesitant and had some pretty bad experiences when ordering takeout from some restaurants during the pandemic- but, was definitely impressed by bread & salt. Ordered a holiday lunch this week to treat myself and really enjoyed the food. My meal arrived quickly and was packed with care. The portions were super generous and I had tons of leftovers for the next day. The mixed veggies were tasty, so was the rice and the garlic, tomato and cilantro sauces to accompany. The rice was so flavourful - yum! The salata salad was tasty and I loved the freshly baked Naan Flatbread as well it was so good. Near the Toronto airport for an overnight and since we live in an area without much diversity we love to try different ethnic foods when we can. We have never had Afghan food and if this is any indication, we are big fans! This restaurant itself is clean and spacious. The wait staff was helpful and had a warmth about them. Service was quick and attentive. The food... my daughter and I split aushak, which are meatless dumplings. They came with a yogurt sauce on top which I was reluctant to be enthusiastic about because I don't love yogurt, but it was amazing, light and tangy. Loved it so much ordered a side of it! We also shared the daal and the mixed vegetable dinners. If you order the dinner you get a massive salad, portion of rice and naan bread. This is not your typical naan bread either. read more

We went on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm and it was relatively empty so we were seated right away. The decor and interior of the restaurant is really nice but I wish they had some instaworthy spots. As for the food, unfortunately they were out of a lot of stuff from the menu. I thought that was a bit unusual for Saturday night prime dinner time. However, we ordered the Lamb shank (without the topping since they were out) and the meat was really very good. It was tender and flavorful and the quantity was very good. We also got the mixed grill 6 which was not too much of a disappointment. They have a lot of grilled items, beef, chicken and lamb kebabs, as well as braised lamb shanks, that I'll try the next time. I ordered the tandoori chicken. It was nicely cooked with a good portion, accompanied with I think basmati rice, a fresh baked naan and a tasty house salad. I called to place a reservation for iftar and was NOT told they would only be serving buffet for iftar so if you're coming during Ramadan be aware of that. We didn't let it ruin our experience however their service is horrible and genuinely ruined our iftar experience. They forget that people come here to break their fast. No cups for water on the table, no utensils, constantly running out of plates at the buffet which leaves you waiting 15+ minutes before even breaking your fast. Buffet options are limited, once it runs out, they're either not replaced or take 20+ minutes to replace it. Very bad experience, they need to step up their management and regulate their restaurant. Many other families at the restaurant spoke this way about their service as well. read more

This restaurant is managed by a very professional group of young ladies. The food is delicious. There are 5 vegan options. I tried two of them. I could not decide which was better. Each meal comes with fresh baked bread, rice and a unique salad. The bread is baked on the spot and arrives at your table with steam coming out of it. Cool interiors and tasty Afghan food. My wife and I ordered takeaway. We ordered the appetizer platter for $25 which was the best part of the meal. It comes with boolani (potato-stuffed fried bread), mantu (meat dumplings), boorani (think eggplant korma), and chicken wings. Everything in the platter was tasty! We also ordered a grilled meat combo plate. They have several options. We choose the one that comes with beef kabob, chicken kabob, and a kufta. The chicken was the best of the grilled meats, followed by the beef kabob. I wasn't a fan of the kofta. Meals comes with a little salad and some delicious Afghan naan. This is my third time here for lunch since it opened - they worked out the early kinks in service and the food has been consistently good. Naan is freshly baked and delicious: crispy outside, warm and soft inside. The appetizer share platter is plenty for two for lunch (but we had lunch plates too). Came here for lunch with friends and we were shocked by the beautiful decor. Unlike other Afghan restaurants this is a full service restaurant where they serve you. Immediately we were greeted by the hostess who was smiling and friendly. We were asked where we wanted to sit. I ordered the lamb shank. It was perfectly cooked. My friends ordered chicken and beef. They were happy with their orders. They served complimentary green tea at the beginning. It had a hint of cardamom which made it taste good. Their bread is so light and served fresh and warm. A group of us had the opportunity to have lunch at Bread and Salt. The interior is well appointed, modern with lovely photos and prints. Parking is ample. We all ordered from the menu and all of us were very pleased with our meals. Our favourites were the dumplings, the chicken, beef and lamb kebobs and, of course, the lamb shanks. The salads were fresh and crisp. The Naan bread is delicious - freshly baked and served warm. All our meals were prepared and served well and very much enjoyed.
