Breakers has a casual, sports bar setting. There are several television stations broadcasting. You can play Keno and chat with friendly folk. The main issue was that we were really hungry, having spent hours waiting on auto repair. The brisket tacos did not satisfy but to alleviate hunger. The flour tortillas were what my sister called 'raw'. They were not heated at all. The brisket meat was lukewarm warm. The cabbage slaw was raw. There was a dab of chunky plastic jar salsa already placed in the middle of each taco. Chips and salsa: the salsa was in a very small plastic thimble. We couldn't even fit a chip into the salsa. The best part about our dinner: the server asked if everything was good. I told her that it was definitely not my favorite EVER. The wonderful thing about this was that she asked me to explain. She did not show an animosity and was truly inquisitive about our dislike of the food. She said that she would tell 'him'. I am assuming that 'he' would be the cook. I appreciated her concern because the bill was about $40 and when my sister can't finish her meal that's a problem. It was about 430 and I hadn't eaten all day so I did finish mine but I couldn't say that I was not pleased with it. Although nothing was spoiled and it certainly could've been worse. I don't know if I could trust going back. I think that they could do a real light marinade on the cabbage to soften it a bit and if they fried the tortillas and maybe offered corn or tortilla in the beginning, it would be an improvement. Or how about if the salsa so called and in such a tiny vessel, it wasn't tasteless but clearly store-bought. Any restaurant should be able to do something with this information. I don't mean to be negative or demeaning, but I do intend to given an honest review based on my impression. Good luck Breakers. Breakers has consistently good food with great burgers and prime rib. The last time I was there however I overheard the bartender berating a customer telling him he's a terrible person and that she would go #2 in his food. I'm not sure what would prompt this type of public ridicule but I found it in poor taste and very unprofessional. read more

Breakers was absolutely hoppin' when we went on a rainy Sunday evening, but the wait time was reasonable. Plus we were able to grab a drink at the bar, which was nice! The parking lot did get pretty full, pretty quickly, so be mindful as you're there but it wasn't terrible. The wait time estimate was actually longer than anticipated but the server did warn us that the kitchen was backed up, so we put in our orders as quickly as we could so we could get our food sooner than later. My partner ordered the patty melt and was pretty disappointed as it was not what he was anticipated (they asked him how he'd want it cooked?) It was essentially a burger on sandwich bread... and it was dry and sad. While I got the grilled chicken club on naan bread and it was delicious! This is an interesting place. What's great about it is that you can dock your boat and then go eat or have drinks They have an outdoor patio, which is nice. You have to walk up hill and cross a relatively busy road to get to the place. Inside it's very cool. Great Up North, Lake bar and Grill. Food was good. The people that work there though are not terribly friendly. Maybe sassy is a better word but there's just a little bit of an attitude which I didn't like. I thought it was pretty expensive too. The food was very good. We had the burgers, fries, and seasoned fries and they did not disappoint. The burgers were Pete fly cooked and juicy. The table next to us had the Oktoberfest Shnitzel and they oohed and ahhed throughout their entire meal. The server was extremely friendly and helpful. We were offered seating inside or out. The music was playing there were screens of mtv videos and sports' games and commentators. It was a great vibe and gave us a chance to relax before the long drive home. This restaurant probably suffers from high turnover and a general lack of interest, so they have trouble with getting and retaining serving staff. OK, I can see that. But it isn't an excuse. I was part of a party of seven. We were seated at a big table outside. The waitress we had initially delivered food by dropping it on the table and running. No plates or silverware were present, just some pretzel sticks. We did flag down someone else and got plates and forks. Finally. After a while. The table next to us had a big family crowd. There were three or four younger boys that were throwing things ... in full view of the staff. Nope, nothing done about that. It was mentioned and the answer was roughly that nothing was going to be done. The problems aren't just with our server. We waited around 90 minutes for our order to show up. It was delivered AFTER closing time for the restaurant. This was on a Tuesday! It might have been more understandable on a Friday or Saturday. The food was OK. There are few choices in that part of Michigan, so you are going to take what you get there. But the service and staff attitude is abysmal. My daughter lives in the area, which is how I came to be there. I was unaware of the change in ownership. This explains a lot. The new owners need to step up and deal with the staff problems. read more

Well, this was our first time here. We walked in with a party of nine. And there were two adults just in front of us at the greeters. They were told a 45 minute to an hour wait. So, we expected that. We walked up. They sat all 9 of us down quickly. They had a long table on the patio waiting for a large party. Our win!! Our waitress was spot on all of our appetizers and all our meals came out promptly and accurately. The place was clean and the tables & chairs on the patio were in great shape. A clear view of Mullet Lake was visible on the other side of the main road. Which was very clear a lot of boaters Dock and then make their way across the road for some eats. Great atmosphere with a great view! I really wanted to try their perch sandwich but they were out of perch. Prime Rib sandwich was ok but not what I wanted. The pretzels were very good soft and delicious dips to go along with it. Husband had a cheeseburger nothing special there. The menu is large so I think there is something for everyone. My friend and I were hungry, so we started looking for a restaurant. We saw this one, and seeing as there didn't seem to any other restaurants in the area, we decided to go in. We were very pleasantly surprised! First, we had the spinach & artichoke dip (the waiter kept referring to it as "SpinDip", which was odd) appetizer. It was full of spinach, rich, creamy and topped with cheese. It came with some delicious fried pita chips. It may have been the best spinach dip I've had. We both wanted the same things and couldn't decide which to have, so we shared both entrees. We had the fish & chips platter and the Michigan Woods salad. My friend is from Colorado & hadn't had a salad like that before, even though it's ubiquitous in Michigan. She was very impressed with it, and I enjoyed it as well. It was a generous-sized salad with lots of veggies & fruit. The banana bread was a nice touch, although nothing special. The fish & chips was 4 kind of tube-shaped pieces of fish with a generous portion of fries. Again, it was very good. The cole slaw, though, tasted very "off" and it made my mouth burn. The only thing I didn't like was that we were seated near the restrooms, and the smell of the air freshener in the restrooms permeated the area around our table. I just came in with my grandparents and we were treated with wonderful service! They had a little wait but we were told ahead of time so no issues there, once the food came out we had great pizza with delicious fresh bread and fresh mushrooms! My grandpa had some wings that he loved and they came with corn very well prepared, the waitress we had did a phenomenal job and she was very nice, and often came by to tell us about our food and checked on us often to see how it was, the place had a very welcoming feel, I can't wait to go back and try more food! read more

Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Kimberly was our waitress and she was very kind, professional, and attentive. The Turbo buffalo wings had enough heat to tickle a true Texans mouth, and the beer was good. Unfortunately, the calamari was over cooked and extremely chewy. (I don't recommend getting saltwater seafood this far inland). Their Reuben was absolutely amazing. I'm not a fan of too many fennel seeds, and theirs was just right. I'm also not a fan of olives, but their Olive Burger was good. All in all, I will definitely be returning. read more

Local bar and grill. Food is decent. Wife ordered a pizza and the ingredients were fresh but unseasoned. Had the French dip and it was good. Daughter had a grilled chicken club. Food itself would have made a 4 out of 5. Service was rough. We ordered water (that's probably where our servers assumptions started) and maybe a sprite. We typically tip 25% or better and we know when it's the kitchens fault or the servers. I would try it again but expectations maybe lower. read more
