Stopped in on a Friday evening. Very busy, but we were seated outside on the deck within 20 minutes. The food, as always, was great. The raspberry chipotle chicken salad was very good. We had to wait 1.5 hrs for a table-which was fine because it was the end of a holiday weekend and it was packed! We had a drink at the bar and chatted with friends before we were seated. We waited a while for our server, Lauren, to come. She took our drink/appetizer order, came back in a timely manner and we ordered dinner. This is when the issues started. Our meal took exceptionally long to arrive, our nachos had very little topping on them, no attention from the server, no info on why it was taking our meals so long to arrive. It was a very disappointing visit-and we brought out of town guests with us-and bragged about it!!! So-if we didn't have such a great history here I would never return. The food quality and service was sub-par. As former restaurant owners we're pretty sure (hopefully) this was an isolated incident. I think/hope that with more training the server and the hostesses could be better representing the Thirsty Sturgeon. Tonight was not a stellar experience there. read more

This place has such good food! I had the pulled pork tacos, with tortilla chips and it was excellent. I love the sweet sauce that it comes with. The meals are large and you won't go away hungry. Excellent food in a great setting. Located right along the North Central Trail bike path, makes for a perfect stop for a cold beer and tasty meal. I had the whitefish sandwich and it was prepared perfectly with just the right amount of batter and served with a generous amount of fries. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was just decent in my opinion. The cheese bread was dry and flat. Some friends of mine did enjoy the brussels chips, Reuben balls and whitefish pate. I was just hoping for a little more. We also had quite the delay in getting our food as well - the place wasn't the busy either. My family of 16 came here today to celebrate my Uncles birthday. We called ahead of time to get reservations. They placed us in the back room where there was more privacy and had lots of space for all of us. They also had clean highchairs for us to use for the little kids in our group. Our waitress already had cups of cold waters with ice in it at each seat when we got there. Everyone there was super friendly and had great customer service. The food was brought out to us in a good time and it was all delicious. We even went outside and played horseshoes and walked over by the water to waste time before our food was ready. Thank you so much for allowing us to have birthday cake to eat after our dinner to celebrate. Everything was great. We will definitely be back. read more

Logan was our server. We had a 55 minute wait for 6 people when we were quoted 30 min. That was not the problem. I get it, it's busy and it's dinner rush at 5pm. However, we waited 20 min with no server acknowledging us once we were sat. Also they sat several parties that showed up after us with the same amount of people, before us. Finally got our server, then waited 30 more minutes, no food nor the drinks we had ordered. Family member asked the host where our drinks were, said our server was coming right now. 15 minutes later, finally got our drinks. 30 minutes later, now almost an hour and half later since we have been sat, no food. Ask about our food, finally get our apps. Dinner came 30 min later. Shrimp salad smelled like booty hole, we were asked if we just wanted a new salad, we said no. 3 of us without food still, 15 min later the rest of us get our food. All the drinks are empty and we have had to ask 3 times for refills. Ridiculous. Have been to the restaurants several times over the past couple years and have decided we are not going back. No discount was offered to us, no manager came to check on us after our several complaints. Do better. Also, the water tastes like they got it from the river. But worse. read more

This was a second visit to this restaurant and brought my parents. First, the service. I want to commend our waitress Kendall (hope that's right) was very patient with my mother (suffers from dementia), listening to her an answering her odd questions. She's 5 stars in my book. Great service overall! The food was delicious. I had the Rueben balls, dad the pulled pork and mom the whitefish. Everyone was very happy with the food, it was well prepared and served hot! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. If you are looking for something quieter during busy times, definitely choose outdoor seating. The interior is very warm and inviting, the seating is very comfortable. Definitely worth the drive for lunch. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

This is a hard review to write. Our family (three families) spend two weeks in July on vacation at Burt Lake. We usually come to TS 2, maybe 3 times in that 2 week period. We've always had a very good experience, except for tonite. We had 8 people and checked in at 6pm. We got seated and our food arrived at 8:20. The food was very good. Stopped in after a kayaking trip in September. We had our dog so we sat outside at the tables they have set up by their horseshoe pits. They have deck seating also, but doggos are not allowed up there. They were very busy (Labor Day weekend). And our table is pretty far from the restaurant, but our waitress gave us lots of love. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us often. The food was stellar! Reuben balls were fantastic. I can see why they were so busy. I went here for the first time with friends and were looking forward to having the Walleye. Unfortunately they were out of Walleye. We then attempted to place an order for whitefish and they were also out. After waiting for our missing waitress to return, we were then told they were out of pork as well as Rib Eye. This process took no less than 30 minutes. When we asked for our check, Kristina gave us a check for $116 which included the Walleye which we were never served. All servers wearing masks. The food was tasty! Definitely can note the freshness of ingredients. It is upgraded pub fare with local flare. Both times I ate at the Thirsty Sturgeon I left disappointed. The food is marginal at best. The only explanation I can come up with to explain how busy this place is would be that it's the only gig in town. There is a lot of staff working but sitting back and watching them function you can tell the gears need a bit of grease. My mom and I stopped in here for a quick bite this weekend. It wasn't super busy, but my mom said it was kind of off-season; summer's a lot busier and without snow on the ground, there's not the snowmobile crowd, but she pointed out how the building used to be just the bar area and the area we were seated in + the part with vaulted ceilings were add-on's, due to their popularity. Service was prompt and the menu had lots of interesting items, plus they had like 5 daily specials. Generally, I find that really overwhelming, but still managed to hang onto one of them long enough to order it. My mom was mildly upset because they were serving their lasagna, her favorite apparently, but my dad was at home preparing spaghetti and she couldn't talk herself into eating both in one day. She got the pulled pork pizza, which, from the few bites I got, was a pretty damn good choice too! It's sweet and savory and perfectly cheesy.
