Second time coming back after first visit when they opened. Great service from start to finish! It was kind of slow on an early Saturday morning which was great for us! The girls ordered the bear combo plate and they loved every bite of the huge pancakes! Tuna toast was a bit disappointing with the tuna being overly soggy and oily. The funnel salad is also overly dressed. The hard boiled egg tasted off so they gave me two fried eggs instead. Very laid back and family friendly ambiance. Portions are very generous and plenty of options on the menu for everyone including healthy eats. Will have to get the fresh squeezed OJ next time. Loved their Italian coffee. What a dud. You can get on a waitlist, so there's that. "Poached" eggs on eggs benedict were overcooked. Chicken on Cobb salad was dry and hard to saw through and thought I might require the Heimlich maneuver while swallowing. Waitress was nice. It was nice to spend our 30 minute wait in our vehicle. When our table was set, we received a text. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately seated. The menu is great. Lots of the standards but a nice selection of non-traditional breakfast choices and also a number of lunch-forward options. If you are looking for a restaurant devoted to working with local producers, this appears to be your place. I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was very good and came with a nice assortment of garnishes. Our "fancy" coffee drinker said his drink was one of the best he ever had. When our meals arrived they were generally as expected. However, one diner had sausage links that were just warm. My Chefs Biscuit and Gravy had good flavor but the chicken breasts were overcooked and thus pretty dry. The biscuits were thick, dense and not very tasty. I didn't complain because the restaurant was very busy and we didn't have many visits from our server. Our fellow diner, who had the prime rib Benedict, had ate it on a previous visit. He called it a 10 out of 10. Said he would get it on every visit. Overall, great concept and pretty solid execution. Just a little bit of polish and I think it would be a 5 star. I stopped here for breakfast during a recent trip to Wausau. I had their biscuit and gravy breakfast with a cup of coffee. I got there around 7am on a Thursday and was seated immediately by a pleasant server. My food arrived within five or so minutes and I dug right in. The biscuit was very thick and fluffy, not like the denser ones I was used to in the south. This is a good thing! it soaked up the gravy nicely and the hand-breaded chicken breast that topped the biscuit was juicy and complemented the meal nicely. The gravy was a tad salty but not overly so. I was glad I only had the half-order! The coffee was good without being too foo-foo. A great start for my day. read more

Needed a place to brunch at while on our way south. Found this place which is just off of 51. It had high reviews in Yelp and we found that they are well deserved. From entering the door where several hostesses were ready to seat you, to paying the bill, everything was delightful. Seems everyone is working in sync and service was friendly and fast. Don't waste your gas to try this place. Era for sure still has our heart after our first experience here which was honestly horrid. Busy Sunday at about noon, understandable that there's a wait but it took us over 10 minutes to even be greeted at the table. We watched two 4 tops get sat after us and they had their drinks and orders taken by a server that was not ours, all before a different server greeted us. Not to mention the horrible placement of the table we were at & then to top it off - a small black curly hair on my $30 meal of steak & eggs. They so graciously made me a new plate that I asked to be to go after my fiance had finished his meal but yet got no apology or accommodation until I ASKED if something could be discounted as I basically just wasted 2 hours of my day and still had not eaten. The manager kindly comped the entire steak off the bill but still never spoke to him. We're all for second chances but for christ sake, up your customer service. I sat at the counter and ordered regular coffee which was very flavorful and a just right taste. They have the capability to make different types of coffee options also. The menu was interesting and had options that were a little different such as an eggs Benedict flight of 3 different offerings. I stuck with the classic and even still they added something on top, I think fresh sprouts which gave it crunch. Hash browns on the side were cooked to crispy perfection. Overall I've been satisfied with the brunch here. I've mainly had the skillets, and some may be a little unbalanced, especially when they're trying to get chefy, but I appreciate they're trying to do something different. And all their potatoes always need salt (please Wisconsin for the love of Potatoes, just salt them. Potatoes love salt.) but the seasoning problem is a cultural issue up here. The overall population doesn't seem to mind that their food has no flavor as long as it's fried. But overall I've been satisfied with my experience. Unfortunately, I just never have any dishes that are memorable, but they're good overall, and my kids love having breakfast here, the coffee is great (better than most of the coffee shops I've tried), and the service is always great. That's why when I ordered the chilaquiles I was so shocked. Was I expecting them to knock my socks off? No. But I was expecting actual chilaquiles. This was an obscene amount of potatoes (why?) layered with a few chips, if there was sauce and salsa, you couldn't find or taste it, there was like a whole 5 oz of lettuce greens on the plate topped with my egg, raw jalapeño, and handful of cilantro. So unbalanced (it was all heat, no acid, no salt, the dry unsalted potatoes don't count as fat). They managed to over complicate it and miss half the ingredients at the same time. If there's someone in that kitchen that knows how to make authentic chilaquiles, please listen to them. Get the basics down first, and then chef it up. read more

The creamer options were prepacked which kind of suck for a place with such good coffee but Sadly that seems to be the standard now. I had the biscuits and Gravy which were good but not traditional. The biscuits were fresh made and pretty dense. They then put a boneless fried chicken breastfeeding on the two biscuits and cover it with Gravy. I would split the biscuits so there are 4 1/2 myself but it was very tasty. The chicken was super. The Gravy was dark and interestingly seasoned. Not traditional pork Gravy but still tasty. The one thing which I was disappointed at was how the staff was treated. I overhead the waitresses talking at the bar about getting food and apparently they charge them full price! We'll its definitely not free or even 50% off. That is madness, free staff food is a tradition as old as time in restaurants. When you have a good staff you should be taking care of them. read more

I just ordered a Cobb salad here. It was not good. The crispy chicken had no seasoning and I was charged a dollar extra for it. There was no blue cheese on it. the hard boiled egg was rubbery. There was only 3 small pieces of tomato on it. The ranch dressing was watery and only about 1 T of dressing for the whole sallad. Also there were a couple of uninvited french fries on the salad! The accompanying sautéed O'Brian potatoes were perfectly seasoned. In a nutshell, this breakfast was perfection. Why am I raving over this meal? Because nothing comes even close to the deliciousness!
