I've been reluctant to post how amazing this place is because I don't want everyone to know about it. My family has been coming here weekly for over 20 years; it's the place "where everybody knows your name." This family owned restaurant really knows what they're doing to keep lifelong customers coming back. They truly have everything you could ever want in a restaurant. Growing up, I honestly thought it was so boring to keep coming to the same, unpretentious restaurant with my parents, but now I can't help but compare every restaurant I visit to Tri-City; and I've been to a lot of restaurants all over the country! This place is a true gem. My favorite items to get are any of their breakfast options. There's so much to choose from & their portions are huge -- 2 meals in 1. I always have a meal ready to go for another day... so convenient! And let's talk about VALUE. You can't get more food or better food anywhere else for the price you pay. Tldr: great food average service for Wisconsin which can seem slow to some from larger cites. Stopped by here around 4 pm. The place was a classic style American restaurant. They have a wide selection of home made pies. The coffee setup was good they had the big old school sugar container as well as packets of other sweetener. The creamers were pre packaged and the coffee overall was average. The service was ok, but nothing special. My coffee refills were slow going and the place was 1/2 empty. I had the chicken steak fried skillet, with a side of defibrillators. It was amazing, the four stars are almost purely for how good the food was. My nephew had the Rubin. It was thick cut and probably home made or at least the meat was very local. read more

I used to come here for many years before they bought The Blue Willow in Wausau. Now I go there because the menu is pretty much the same and it's closer to where I live. But If your looking for good "diner food" on Grand Ave. this is the place to be. They have a huge menu with basically everything you could possibly want on it including breakfast. The food isn't spectacular, you wouldn't expect it to be for the type of place that it is, but it does hit the spot and it's always what you expect. I would have to say that they are probably one of the best family restaraunts in the whole area. The prices are dirt cheap, you get a ton of food and it's always consistant. The prices are cheap and the service is always great. I would much rather come here then say someplace like Perkins, it's alot cleaner and with feriendlier service. The owner is especially nice, he's from Greece and used to always recognize me as a regular and say hello when I'd come in. A good family restaurant, like Perkins across the street in that regard. However, they have more variety with a little more ethnicity. They are in the same price range as Perkins. I think that the family that owns the place is Greek. They serve good hearty food. read more

We come here for breakfast after 3rd shift and my husband and his dad always ate here. The breakfast is wonderful and portions are large and the price is really reasonable. If you like your hashbrowns and bacon a little crispier make sure you tell them when you order and they will do it right. I don't understand why alot of restaurants don't get this. Lots of good choices on the menu. The staff is friendly and lots of seating. It's not fancy but appears to be clean. Could use a little updating. It's nice it's not a chain restaurant. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast. I have never came for lunch or dinner but I should try sometime. read more

Is the food the best you'll ever have? No, it's not. I wasn't expecting much, I didn't know a single thing about this place. We ended up here on a Friday night with our 15-month-old. I took a chance and ordered their Fish Fry and well, I was pretty impressed! A little short on flavor, but nice breading and lovely and large fresh tasting cod. The side of hash-browns were as good as any diner. The coleslaw was a little to mayonnaise-y for me, but not bad. I must say, even if the food wasn't as decent as we experienced we'd probably even come back here with our toddler simply based on the fact that food came out piping hot and incredibly fast! So fast. Wonderfully fast for families of little ones. Service was sweet and informative. Glad we stumbled upon this place when our other plans fell through. read more

They have the best breakfast food in Wausau, period. I live far from home now, and often find myself wishing that Tri-City was closer.

This place is always packed and now I know why! I have eaten here twice. It's so hard to choose what to eat due to the HUGE variety of entrees on the menu. They also offer homemade daily soups de jour and homemade pies. The first time I had an avocado burger with steak fries. The second time I had beer battered walleye. In both instances, the service was no less than outstanding! The place was packed to the walls with only elbow room, and I fully expected it would take an hour to get my food. Wrong! The wait staff served up the food lightning fast and are very attentative--constantly checking on you to make sure everything is okay. The place is clean with a warm ambience about it. As for the food--very tasty, huge portions and prices are unbelievably low for this caliber of a restaurant. I highly recommend this place for all ages. read more

Since Betty's Lunch went belly up we decided to try this place one more time. The omelet and skillet were ordered were just ok.

Service was good. I had two pancakes, two sausage patties, and toast. Everything was great.

This place was not good at all. We got burgers, and they tasted like those frozen reheat ones that you get in the grocery store. The prices were way too high for what you get. Also, this place is pretty grungy, not very clean looking. And what really grossed us out was that there was a waitress eating in a food prep area and I think they were rolling silverware too. Yuk. If they do that in plain sight, then what else are they doing? We will not go back. read more

Family Owned Restaurant. Clean! Great service and so much food you have to take some home. Had dinner here for about 5 weeks while we were working in Wausau. Great meals! Fresh warm mulit-grain bread fresh from the oven. Very inexpensive. Early bird specials. Will miss this place. If you don't see it on the menu, they can make it for you. read more
