I can not recommend this place enough. My family has almost zero fishing experience and it did not matter one bit. Captain Dan made sure we always had a baited pole in the water at all times. We were catching so many fish my entire family had to stop and just sit for about 10 min because we were so tired from pulling in fish. This was an absolute wonderful family experience. My 7 and 3 year old had the time of their life and are constantly asking to go back. We went on a 4 hour charter which I think is the perfect amount of time for little kids. You have enough time to enjoy a boat ride, do some fishing and enjoy a snack on the boat before the little ones get too tired. Spectacular three hour trip fishing outside of Long Beach. Brought my 11-year-old son for his first fishing trip and he caught his first fish. Beginners luck he's the only one who caught a fish. I have only great things to say about our experience with this company. Kyle our captain was positive, professional, cheerful, sensitive when needed and showed supreme competence and sincere interest and boating and fishing. He was excellent at locating fish in multiple areas. The fish simply weren't biting today. I have no question that you can have an A+ experience and definitely walk home with champion pictures of you holding the prize catch. We rented a small private boat for the two of us. We went out for two hours but ended up staying for three. All well worth the investment. I left I am memory of a glorious day on the ocean. Got my boyfriend and 5 of his friends a charter this past weekend and all of them have said this is by far the best fishing trip they had ever gone on! Each of them caught (and mostly released) 10+ fish in a span of only 3 hours! From rock fish to sheephead to barracudas, they caught plenty of fish to keep them entertained the whole time! Would not recommend the 2 hour trip. Saw it on Groupon, and it was not what we thought we were advertised. 2 hours actually means 35 minutes of fishing. We met up at Huntington Harbor Yacht Club. ~40min to drive out. ~30 to come back. Not exactly what I expected from a fishing trip. Overall caught 2 mackeral for 6 ppl, but might be bc we were beginners. Completely fine for me that we don't catch fish, but just the time was dissatisfactory that we didn't exactly get to enjoy the experience. Our time was from 8 to 10, so we got to the harbor at 8:09 and returned at 10:06. Scheduling and meeting up was smooth thanks to Kevin/Kyle. Maybe the longer trips were better, but there definitely should be more transparency in how long it would take to go out and actually start. read more

Called and made reservation with Kevin, was very helpful and quick to respond. Booked the trip for 06/09/2020, 8 hour trip for six passengers. One of them my niece, hard worker and goes to school, she wanted to go fishing. We decided to pay way over our budget in order to stay away fro the croud on a charter boat. Captain Woody showed up on time, we got on board the 21' boat, little bit tight for 7 persons including our tackle rods and backpacks. Picked up a scoop of live bait part of our deal, if we wanted more bait, we had to pay extra! We asked the captain if there is bathroom on board, he said" I have large bottles and small bottles". Well Captain, where do you expect the girl to go!? 8 hours is a long time. 4 hours into the trip, the bait tank pump broke within minutes all our live bait is dead. Captain said, he replaced it the week before?? Finally, hooked a nice lingcod, got it up to the boat, took the captain three tries to gaff the fish, and it was lucky, because he hooked the gill and did not puncture the body. Few hours later, fishing with dead bait, got lucky while drifting and hooked a Halibut, got it up to the boat, again the d..m gaff did not puncture the fish, instead it threw it upwards outside the water and broke the line. Found out later at the dock, that Captain Woody texted Kevin to bring him the old gaff down to the boat. Captain Woody was knowledgeable and knew where to take us to fish. But for $1000 plus tax, I would expect a better equipment on the boat and at least a porta potty. read more

This isn't a real fishing charter that actually targets species of fish! More so a company that takes you out to catch feeder fish, that don't even weight over 2.5lbs. I ask them specifically if you could go for yellow tails and bonito's. They made me feel sure that this wasn't a problem but yet they took me to catch sand bass and what they call whiteys, which I didn't pay to go fishing for trash feeder fish, more so TARGETING yellowfin or bonitos. They were also late on take off and did have to stop and get bait on our paid time as well. Definitely felt like I wasted 1200 dollars and now scared to ever book something like this again, these are guys that ruin it for real fishermen that actually target the fish they advertise they can catch, I even had them go back to shore early as I could tell they didn't care about catching decent size fish as they were using nothing but small hooks. read more

Not worth the money & you don't get what you pay for! Beware! We paid $600 for a 4-hour fishing trip. When we arrived, the boat was tiny and felt overpriced for the $600 we paid, being that it's a cheap 18-20 foot boat. The captain was unprepared and wasted 50% of the trip on getting his baits ready, and getting his fuel for the boat under the time we paid him. This was a RIP OFF' We only actually did fishing for about an hour out of the entire 4 hours. Avoid this place/company at all costs. It is not worth the money. read more

We booked our family's outing with Kevin a few weeks before arriving in Huntington Beach. One of our sons is an avid fisherman, the remainder of us... not so much. Kevin's ability to handle a variety of expertise amongst us, while maneuvering us through our 4 hour fishing / lobster looping expedition was magical. Captain Dan took my 7-year old son and I out for half a day. What a blast! The weather was perfect, the boat was clean and spacious and Dan was extremely patient with the first-time fisherman. He took the time to describe everything from the bird nests we passed on our way out to how the break wall was made and, of course, how to catch a fish! After my son caught a half dozen in less than 30 minutes, he was hooked! When we were pulling back into the dock, he said "we could go back out tomorrow, Daddy". He answered all my questions, was super friendly and took fantastic care of us. We booked a two hour charter and our captain was Jeremy. What a cool dude!! He made the trip so fun - we knew we were in good hands with an experienced fisherman. We stopped to get bait and then we were off - with Jeremy picking out the best spot... the FIRST cast into the water, my husband caught one!! I'm not crazy about fishing, but Jeremy made me have fun and reel in the fish. My husband has a lot of fishing experience but said he's never had an experience like this one. Jeremy did all the "dirty work" so my husband could focus on catching more fish. We ended up catching more than 10! I know there are different packages and pricing, so not sure if they always do this, but Jeremy let us keep fishing while he filleted our fish so they were ready to take home and have for dinner! Yesterday we went out with Captain Woody for a 3 hour tour for 6 people at 12 pm. First off, Captain Woody was so great with us the entirety of the trip. He is a perfect mix of SUPER laid back yet professional and knowledgeable. He was very patient with our group of 6 beginners who didn't know the first thing about fishing. Within seconds of arriving to our spot, my fiancé (the only girl on the group) had the first fish out. Everyone in the group was able to catch between 2-4 fish in our time. We took a 6-pack charter out of Long Beach with Captain Dan and it was a awesome in every way! Captain Dan made sure we all had a line in the water at all times, even baiting our hooks. He knew the hot spots well and was spot-on with locations and advice to make sure we got the best possible fishing experience. We were catch bass pretty much nonstop, pulled in a few barracuda and even a sculpin. My 15 year old son has really gotten into fishing and we'd spent hours at locations around Long Beach with minimal success. We decided to bring in a pro to teach us the basics of local fishing and Kevin was AMAZING!!! He's a great guy with the patience of a saint and spent 5 hours taking us to different locations and talking us through the "what/where/why" of the rod set up and casting. Time flies when you are fishing with Captain Kevin! My 9 year old son REALLY wanted to go fishing so I arranged a fishing trip for him as a birthday gift. Captain Kevin was the perfect match in terms of price and trip length. My son broke his arm the night before our trip and Kevin was understanding and amenable to rescheduling. When we finally made the trip Kevin was amazing with the kids! He reviewed fishing basics and had some great tips. He also gave lots of interesting information about other sea creatures (the kids especially liked the dolphins and sea lions). The actual fishing was what I expected to begin with (casting, reeling, waiting) but before I knew it Kevin found us LOTS of fish. Literally every time we put a line down we would get bite. Several times all 3 of us had fish online at the exact same time! I've never thought of fishing as exciting before, but this definitely was, especially for the kids. He was very attentive definitely worth it. So much better than The one-on-one time than you do with the sardine in a can you know charter boats. We had a really fun day fishing. Highlight of the day was a pod of dolphins who decided to play tag with the boat and kept contact with us for about a half hour. Fishing was fun and you actually get to fish vs. having everything done for you.
