I can not recommend this place enough. My family has almost zero fishing experience and it did not matter one bit. Captain Dan made sure we always had a baited pole in the water at all times. We were catching so many fish my entire family had to stop and just sit for about 10 min because we were so tired from pulling in fish. This was an absolute wonderful family experience. My 7 and 3 year old had the time of their life and are constantly asking to go back. We went on a 4 hour charter which I think is the perfect amount of time for little kids. You have enough time to enjoy a boat ride, do some fishing and enjoy a snack on the boat before the little ones get too tired. Kids want to go fishing now instead of Disneyland which is music to my ears. Thanks again and we will definitely see you guy again soon.

Great experience hooping for Spiny Lobster. Captain Kevin was super informative and knowledgeable. Can't wait to book a fishing trip for the family.

Got my boyfriend and 5 of his friends a charter this past weekend and all of them have said this is by far the best fishing trip they had ever gone on! Each of them caught (and mostly released) 10+ fish in a span of only 3 hours! From rock fish to sheephead to barracudas, they caught plenty of fish to keep them entertained the whole time! HUGE thank you to Captain Andrew for being such a great captain and for getting them everything they needed for a successful trip. Also huge thank you to Kevin for communicating with me throughout the process and answering any questions I had. I highly highly suggest them if you're even thinking of hiring your own charter. They are the absolute best. We will definitely be back for more trips!

Thanks to captain Andrew for this epic photo!

A big thank you to captain Andrew at Breakwall Fishing Charter! My 7 year old said it was the best day ever. I lost count of how many bass we caught. Captain Andrew very skillfully baited our hooks and helped make this fishing trip super easy and fun. When my son started feeling a little seasick, captain Andrew thoughtfully took us out to see the dolphins to help ease his nausea. My son had so much fun we ended up extending our time out there. They were very accommodating, and we will certainly be booking them for future fishing trips!

Would not recommend the 2 hour trip. Saw it on Groupon, and it was not what we thought we were advertised. 2 hours actually means 35 minutes of fishing. We met up at Huntington Harbor Yacht Club. ~40min to drive out. ~30 to come back. Not exactly what I expected from a fishing trip. Overall caught 2 mackeral for 6 ppl, but might be bc we were beginners. Completely fine for me that we don't catch fish, but just the time was dissatisfactory that we didn't exactly get to enjoy the experience. Our time was from 8 to 10, so we got to the harbor at 8:09 and returned at 10:06. Scheduling and meeting up was smooth thanks to Kevin/Kyle. Maybe the longer trips were better, but there definitely should be more transparency in how long it would take to go out and actually start.

My teenagers had never caught a fish and I was carrying a heavy weight on my shoulders. I believe that most people have a good memory of fishing from some time in their life. Unfortunately that was not the case with my kids. We attempted to go fishing on a few occasions but always came up empty handed. I was determined to change that and a friend recommended Breakwall. Setting up the charter was easy and finding the meet up spot no problem at all. Captain Dan was wonderful. I don't know that he could've worked any harder. His ability to multi task was impressive. He took us to some great fishing spots and at the same time helped everyone keep their lines in the water. Our group of 5 caught 39 fish on a four hour trip. I could not have been more satisfied. The weight has been lifted off of my shoulders as both of my kids now have a good fishing memory.

    Awesome experience. Fishing at sunrise.

As the summer days dwindled away, my two boys yearned for a last adventure. I discovered this dashing fishing experience and was ensured that my sons would be gifted with fulfillment. Kevin was an eloquent man--respectful, exciting, and brimmed with integrity. The plethora of fish caught by us was of an amount never seen in my life! The crisp morning breeze just nipped at our skin in the beginning; paired with the warm fire glowing the sky. This area, an absolute jewel of the ocean, was singing the gentle salt sprays of the waters around us. This captivating beauty was breathtaking. Upon this day, thou has created an experience that will never escape the memories of thou.

Called and made reservation with Kevin, was very helpful and quick to respond. Booked the trip for 06/09/2020, 8 hour trip for six passengers. One of them my niece, hard worker and goes to school, she wanted to go fishing. We decided to pay way over our budget in order to stay away fro the croud on a charter boat. Captain Woody showed up on time, we got on board the 21' boat, little bit tight for 7 persons including our tackle rods and backpacks. Picked up a scoop of live bait part of our deal, if we wanted more bait, we had to pay extra! We asked the captain if there is bathroom on board, he said" I have large bottles and small bottles". Well Captain, where do you expect the girl to go!? 8 hours is a long time. 4 hours into the trip, the bait tank pump broke within minutes all our live bait is dead. Captain said, he replaced it the week before?? Finally, hooked a nice lingcod, got it up to the boat, took the captain three tries to gaff the fish, and it was lucky, because he hooked the gill and did not puncture the body. Few hours later, fishing with dead bait, got lucky while drifting and hooked a Halibut, got it up to the boat, again the d..m gaff did not puncture the fish, instead it threw it upwards outside the water and broke the line. Found out later at the dock, that Captain Woody texted Kevin to bring him the old gaff down to the boat. Captain Woody was knowledgeable and knew where to take us to fish. But for $1000 plus tax, I would expect a better equipment on the boat and at least a porta potty.

Brought the fam from China and they wanted to check out the LB aquarium. Then they wanted to go fishing. Can't find a private boat rental in the LB harbor, until kevin showed up. With a 19ft bass boat, he was fully equipped with all the fishing gear you need for newbies to pro. Best price in the LB harbor if you wanna go out for couple hours with only the people you want. Thanks kevin for hooking up my fam.

A perfect day on the water. We booked a private fishing charter for six (me and my two teens and their friends). Kevin was great on the phone. He is very knowledgeable and gave some great advice. Captain Woody was on time, very experienced and super friendly. He helped all of us get set up and took us to places we didn't know existed. We caught so many fish we stopped counting. I can't wait to go out again!

My dad is so hard to buy a gift for, but this year we decided to take him out for a lobster hooping excursion with Kevin for his birthday. It was definitely an experience that I am so glad I did and would totally go again. Kevin is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, he took us to numerous locations in the hopes of catching some lobster (we caught so many). Not only was it a great time but it was a great bonding experience my dad, brother, and myself will never forget! Thank you to Kevin for making my dads birthday unforgettable, I would definitely Breakwall fishing for your next fishing/lobster excursion!

We booked our family's outing with Kevin a few weeks before arriving in Huntington Beach. One of our sons is an avid fisherman, the remainder of us... not so much. Kevin's ability to handle a variety of expertise amongst us, while maneuvering us through our 4 hour fishing / lobster looping expedition was magical. He truly is a fantastic host and angler, who helped us obtain our licenses, got us to a great saltwater spot with calm water. Our group reeled in plenty of bites and looped 5 HUGE lobster. The drive to a south Long Beach marina where we started was easy; free parking. Our time with Breakwall was a major highlight of our trip; no doubt, the memories will last a lifetime. THANK YOU, KEVIN!

Whenever we have family or friends visiting from out of state or overseas, it's one of our favorite activities because it's a relaxing way to see the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary, and, if you're lucky, the sea lions. We brought another group yesterday, and everyone enjoyed the tour. The only downside, in my opinion, is the boats used for the harbor tour. Yesterday we were on the Kristina, and in the past we've also been on the Caroline, which we chartered for my mother's ash-scattering ceremony about 14 years ago. Both vessels are showing their age. I also think the marketing could be clearer. The photos on the website and many travel sites prominently feature the newer catamarans, which gives the impression that those are the boats used for the harbor tour. I actually called ahead to ask and learned that the harbor tours use different vessels. While I appreciated getting the correct information, many first-time visitors probably wouldn't think to ask and may expect the newer boats shown in the advertising. The harbor tour itself is still worthwhile, and we'll likely continue bringing our guests because we genuinely enjoy the experience. I just hope Harbor Breeze considers updating or refurbishing the harbor tour vessels and making the marketing a little clearer so guests know exactly what to expect.

There was a lot of people in line. I was in the middle and thought I wouldn't get good seats, but I ended up sitting outside in the front. The boat is really nice and big. The front is the best place to sit with a good view of the whales and dolphins. The inside was packed and you don't really see a lot and sitting outside in the back you could smell the fumes from the engine. I did see dolphins and whales - the mom and the calf. They had a couple of experts talk about the whales and dolphins. We were past Newport Beach when we finally saw the whales. We spent a good amount of time seeing them. Then we went back. It's gets windy. It was a fun experience.

The first time, I went with Harbor Breeze on their big boat, the second was with SoCal Whale Watching on a much smaller rigid inflatable boat. The pluses are that you covered more ground and therefore have a chance to see more animals. I think Captain Steve covered about x5 the distance on his boat in comparison to the much slower big boat. You are also down low and next to the water, which means you can see the animals up close. The main downside is that it is not as comfortable as the bigger boat and you have to remember to bundle up really warm. Don't worry about getting sea sick though. Big boats tend to roll a lot, whereas this little boat was surprisingly smooth. You have less of a chance of getting sea sick on this little boat. We had some chop and a fair swell, and it didn't affect me at all. It is not uncomfortable or bumpy, but there is no cabin or restroom like on a big boat. Captain Steve was friendly and knew his marine biology really well. He answered questions and explained things as we went. On our trip, we got to see a giant pod of common dolphins, a big fin whale, and the two gray whales. We started out due west and made it about halfway to Catalina, and then went northeast and ended up off of Palos Verde. We covered a lot of square miles. Unfortunately, no orcas, but I was very pleased with the trip.

This tour, however, barely left the coastline. If whales could be seen that close to shore, I could have just stood on the beach and saved my money. The trip was advertised as 2 to 2.5 hours, but it only lasted about 1.5 hours. Most of that time was spent heading back toward the harbor, and then we sat near the harbor entrance for around 20 minutes just watching sea lions. I honestly don't understand why anyone should pay $50 per person just to look at something you can easily see from the shore. It felt misleading and disappointing. The boat never seriously attempted to go offshore, where whales are actually located. What made this even more frustrating was that I specifically asked the staff before booking whether we were likely to see whales, and they assured me we would. Do not waste your money on this tour.

It just brings me so much joy. There were only 10 of us, which I think is a perfect amount of people for a tour like this, not too full. And Captain Erica drove us right to the action! We were in the middle of Minke whales, humpbacks, and fin whales! Fin whales are the second largest animal on earth! And gorgeous, so sleek. They taught us a lot about ocean life on the ride, I'll never forget this trip. And there were easily hundreds of dolphins and a few sea lions. My cortisol levels dropped to zero, for sure.
