I originally had a frustrating experience after getting brake work done. Shortly after, my check engine light came on and when I returned with the issue, I was initially told it would cost $170-$270 just to look at it without much consideration that it might be related to recent work. However, after leaving a review, the shop reached out to me, apologized, and asked me to bring the car back in. This time they took the time to actually inspect things and found that fuel had gotten into the charcoal canister, likely causing the EVAP codes. They reset the codes and recommended starting with a new gas cap before moving into deeper diagnostics, which I appreciated instead of jumping straight into expensive repairs. And I actually did say I called Troy and he worked with me on the price of of this particular item. I'm not sure you read my review accurately or if you're just having a bad day. I mentioned five or six places I could get your $120 part for between $40-$50, including locally at AutoZone and Lowe's. For you to go off like that because I wrote an objective review which mentions mostly good things about your business, tells me you don't want my business. If I am misunderstanding you, you know how to get ahold of me to apologize. I'll say it again but in stronger words, a 200% markup is unethical. Jason, unless you have a chip on your shoulder, my review mentions all the things I believe your business is doing well and points out one area I feel you have room for improvement. If you want to take this information to drive me away as a customer rather than taking an honest look at your operation to see if you might be able to make some small changes to be more upfront and transparent in how you price your parts, so be it. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We've been taking both of our vehicles here for a few years because we feel they do excellent work. We primarily deal with Troy, although I've known Brent for over 30 years. Troy knows we like to keep our vehicles in tiptop shape and he makes recommendations accordingly. I don't feel like they've ever installed a part or recommended any work that was unnecessary. The reason for the 4-star rating is something that happened yesterday. They sold me a $40 battery maintainer and charged me $120. I want them to make a profit because I want them to have a successful business. Nonetheless, I feel a 200% markup is excessive! I felt hurt and letdown by this. So, I called Troy and he worked with me on the price of this item. However, we had both of our vehicles serviced the day before and new wipers installed on each that are wonderful as well as very expensive. I can't help but wonder if they were also marked up 200%. There's no way of checking since the bill only says "premium" wiper blades. The Scorpio in me makes it difficult to trust certain businesses known to take financial advantage of people such as automotive mechanics. Nonetheless, I had developed that kind of trust in Brent's until yesterday. I encourage Brent's and all automotive shops to be more upfront and transparent with their pricing. We will continue to take our vehicles there because they do good work. We will also take a more active role in asking questions and price checking them on any parts they install. It hurts me to say it will be a longtime coming whether or not we're ever able to develop the level of trust in this business we had prior to yesterday's experience. We can recommend Brent's because they do good work, but with the qualification you should not be afraid to ask questions about prices on any parts or materials they may recommend and even do some price checking. Initially, I really liked Brent Allen automotive. They seemed to do a good job and take care of the problems that I've had with my vehicles. My most recent experience proved otherwise. We had a $300 battery fix that should've repaired the vehicle but didn't because they misdiagnosed the problem. The real problem was the fuel pump. They called us back after the second look and told us it would be a $700-$900 fix. After talking with other mechanics, they quoted me way below that, more in the $300-$400 range. I called owner and explained that we would be towing the vehicle to another mechanic. (This is where the problem should've ended) He explained that I needed to pay for the second diagnosis before we could do that. I told him that first, I was quoted a price before the second diagnosis and that they should've found the real problem before hand. I was treated extremely rude over the phone and belittled. He even said "I just want it out of my shop". I will be letting all of my contacts know that Brent Allen Automotive is not a reliable nor friendly auto shop. read more

Non reliable and incompetent! I took my vehicle there and they diagnosed the problem stating that they were only going to replace certain parts of the issue. I picked it up and it didn't work. I took it back and they said they'd replace the part they didn't in the first place but wanted double what they originally quoted me (I'd already paid $1900). They didn't fix the problem and got grease all over my brand new seats! I will never take anything to them again. read more

While out of town on vacation, we had trouble with our truck. Brent's came highly recommended from a friend so we called them and explained our situation. The individual that I spoke with stated they were busy and the individuals that would do the diagnosis was gone to lunch, he said that under our circumstances they would get my truck right in diagnose it and do a repair that same day if they could get any parts that might be needed. When I arrived, I was greeted and as promised, their shop staff dropped what they were doing to help us get back on the road. My truck was diagnosed in little time and a repair made. When I told them I sure appreciated their service and getting us in, the individual at the desk said he had been in similar circumstances, (100 degree weather kids in the car and broke down out of town on vacation) and he said he wished he had help and understood what it was like; that is why they made it a priority. How fast and far away can you run? If there was a -5 rating, I'd use that! These guy are HORRIBLE! Most of us think that if you request an estimate,.... ah, that's what the work should cost. Not more than 2 TIMES as much AFTER they did the supposed work. They didn't bother to check with me before doing the work, they just went ahead and did it and charged me more than double!
