We took our car back in and they told us they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and to come pick it up. We asked for a list of tests they ran and the results. We got a small list but no results. A simple search from chat gpt told us what the problem could be and easy tests that could be run to confirm it. Two other mechanics confirmed that they could have run a simple test to confirm the head gasket was bad as well. Now we get to pay another mechanic to diagnose it and replace the head gasket after already wasting $900 with carsmart.

They should be getting a second opinion or digging deeper if they think people are just going to fall for this and for that kind of cash up. I replaced the battery yesterday but the car still would not start. I took my car in and was called about 2 hours later. They told me that the problem was that a cap was left on the battery when I installed it. I had them also fix the placement my light that was not quite in the right spot and was tricky for me to do on my own (the light bulb was already new). I was told that my total would be $241. I asked why and the lady at the front desk had the mechanic explain to me why. (All listen on my invoice) I was charged $140 for a diagnostic test. The mechanic said they started with the alternator and starter. When they found that those both worked well, they moved onto the battery. They found that it had no power. They found a cap on the battery, removed it, and got the car up and running again. They then charged me $70 for replacing a lightbulb when all I wanted was it placed back in the right spot. No one called me and asked if I would like the up charge of the light bulb being replaced. A few hours later, I felt like going back and reviewing my dash cam footage. It revealed that my car was taken back into the shop at 9:32 and the cap on the battery was found at 9:41. I reviewed all 9 minutes of that footage and my car was not touched. No diagnostic test was ran and the cap was found immediately upon starting the inspection. Within 9 minutes of my car being brought back, they found the problem. When reviewing further, there was a mechanic who got into my car, opened my glovebox, pulled my first aid kit out, and then turned my dash cam off manually. They had no reason to be getting into my glovebox or going through my things. If they needed something out of there like the manual, they should have asked me to pull it out prior. From that point on, this technician turned my dash cam off repeatedly for remainder of the service. I did not get to see my light be replaced or anything else. I got this dash cam for the safety of my car and did not give anyone permission to turn it off. I would not recommend this shop. They are dishonest and are not truthful with their prices and what they charge you for. They had an opportunity to be honest and fair and gain a new, repeat customer and they blew it. However, after leaving a review, the shop reached out to me, apologized, and asked me to bring the car back in. This time they took the time to actually inspect things and found that fuel had gotten into the charcoal canister, likely causing the EVAP codes. They reset the codes and recommended starting with a new gas cap before moving into deeper diagnostics, which I appreciated instead of jumping straight into expensive repairs. While the first interaction wasn't great, I do appreciate that they made an effort to make it right.

Dropped off my car about six weeks ago with an oil leak, asked them if they could fix it. $3,000.00 later they said, "all better!" Got the car home and after a couple weeks of driving it around, sure enough, another big oil slick on my garage floor. Take the car back in to have them take another look, and was greeted with all kinds of negativity, obviously trying to make it known that they weren't going to warranty their work, they did take the car and three days later I got a call that said they couldn't find anything wrong. Okay fine, I'll drive the car with purple die to see where the leak is coming from. The ars hole at the front desk who only uses a paragraph when a sentence will do continued pontificating at me for ten minutes trying to explain that he couldn't help me and couldn't remember ever working on my car. I finally talked to another gentleman who explained there was no leak in the car and to drive it around and bring it back at a later date. Yeah, I've never been treated with less respect at any establishment than this ever before. Obviously they have plenty of business and don't need any more.
