Who doesn't love libraries?! This library is our favorite! It is kept clean, organized, and have a wide variety of children's books to choose from. Staff and volunteers are always helpful. As other libraries, this branch also offer self-checkouts and easy drop offs. They they also offer automatic extension for borrowed items and you can also put books on hold if you are waiting on a specific one. I also had a privilege of using one of the conference rooms with other mom friends to help our kids with their homework. Parking is ample and is located in downtown Brentwood, so you can also shop, eat, play and walk around after. If you also want to support the library, one way is to check out their second hand books on the second floor or donate books as well. read more

In my quest to get stamps at all LAPL locations for their 100th anniversary, this was the first location I was disappointed with. Not only is it location in a very busy area that would make it tough to visit if you aren't able to walk or use public transportation (parking on the street is metered & in high demand and the parking lot is beyond small), but the location itself is quite small. It feels almost like a satellite branch than an actual library. I guess it would be good for just working, but that's about it. It didn't look like it had much of a selection. Finally, I want to believe it was a one off, but the librarian who helped me was the first in over a dozen library visits who wasn't beyond friendly and helpful. She just seemed to not want to be there that day. It just capped off a disappointing trip. read more

This library is smaller than others but it's cute. The reason for the four stars is because the rooms get reserved SOOO fast in the mornings. I went on a random weekday and within 5 min of the library opening and they had no more rooms! It also gets kind of loud and I had to sit outside for a quieter environment. But the flip side of that is you can be louder and feel comfortable. Overall I would recommend and staff can be helpful. read more

I'm a fan of our town's library. Brentwood has really done a lot to make their downtown have a local, hometown feel but with all the amenities you'd need or want. The library, located across from city park and steps away from coffee shops, dining and shopping. There's free and easy parking downtown. They're even open on Saturdays. The facilities are newer with high ceilings, two floors, lots of communal computers, free printing and ample space to read, plug in and do work or study. I've more recently started to read more and I love the convenience of searching for titles I want online and then placing a hold. Since they're part of the Contra Costa Library system, they can get books from other locations to hold for you. Staff is very nice and helpful. I once had some issues printing and they stepped right in to assist. I've also used their WiFi to work some days, when mine was out. I love this library-such a perfect compliment to the downtown Brentwood scene. read more

Love this library! The librarians are so nice and informative. They have tons of stuff for the kids.

This library is great! Luckily we were able to reserve a conference room last minute for our WFH friends so they could work together, and they were able to connect to wi-fi with ease. There were huge windows, with the option to pull the shades up or down(even had an extra layer of black out curtains). My daughter had fun in the children's area, found a stack of books that intrigued her right away, and loved playing with the interactive play structure. The two librarians that we interacted with were super helpful and friendly, and such a wealth of knowledge, even with resources outside of the library. The only reason I took one star down, was because of the cleanliness in the restrooms. My friend's mentioned that the men's restroom stalls were a bit disgusting, and i saw that two of the women's stalls were worse for wear. Hoping that it was a one off, and that it's usually more clean than that since the rest of the library feels pretty clean. read more

Huge library lots of toys to chose from only down side is the toys and installations they have for kids to play with are filthy!! Like caked on dirt and residue disgusting. When asked about it to the staff there response was "it's not our job" but yet they are just sitting there doing nothing at the computer. Like what????? Oakley is a lot cleaner and they actually walk around and do stuff. read more

The Brentwood Library is a great place to bring your family, or to escape from them if you want to focus on work, lol. The staff is friendly and you can schedule their study rooms or conference room online. The only thing I wish they had is more study rooms - they book up fast. read more

Quiet studying lounges are available. Love the idea of the two story building. Staff are very nice and helpful.

A very good library for the community of Brentwood. Layout is very well executed and there are a lot of books to be read and borrowed. And sometimes, they give away books for free! We were able to get some books about the history of WWII, bombers and the European campaign. Both me and my son liked that very much. A nice park just across the street, the Brentwood Library is a big plus on or book. read more

I signed up for a library card on June 9th around 3 PM. Both of the librarians manning the front desk were incredibly helpful. The helped me sign up in a timely manner(guest log-in on a desktop to sign up online followed by verifying my Cal Id.) Explained all the benefits and classes for children patiently and signed us up for "Find Your Voice" program. Such a pleasant experience, made my day. read more

One of the better libraries I've been to. It is conveniently located in downtown Brentwood. There is plenty of parking in the area. They host children's readings/playtime which is really amazing for people with young children. The staff are all wonderful people who always greet you with a smile and seem eager to assist you if you have any questions or concerns. They have rooms you can reserve and plenty of computers to use. They also have a lovely used book section if you're looking to purchase some books. The layout is open and modern. The children's section is away from the main library so as not to cause too much noise for the rest of the patrons. It's not a very large library but you're guaranteed to find something you'll enjoy here. If you need a particular book that they do not have in their inventory, the librarians will assist you in checking other libraries. Love this newly renovated library- they have study spaces of all kinds- longer tables, small desks, counters, couches, and private rooms. This place is pretty crowded after school and a little noisy during library events but it's a great place to study if you're tired of spending $5 for a small coffee at Starbucks. Appreciate the unlimited fast free wi-if (and so do these teenagers watching manga next to me). read more

I came here because I was in the area. This place is at the heart of downtown. It is the most up to date public library I have ever seen. The door are automatic as soon as you walk in. It is very clean and spacious as soon as you walk in. You can also reserve a study room. The kids section is pretty big. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Brentwood Library is beautiful. It's centrally located in downtown Brentwood. There is plenty of seating and study rooms. The staff is friendly. The only suggestion I have is to enforce quiet in study spaces or have an area reserved as "Quiet Zone" for individuals not utilizing the study rooms. read more

This place is huge and beautiful and right across the street from the community center & Park. Today was the Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting, which perfectly coincided with the farmer's market down the street. The new building has two floors and a courtyard. The first has a very open floor plan, and the second houses the Friends of Brentwood Library Book Shop and conference and study rooms for reservation. There is also a small 3-D printer up there. The inside is well lit, but the floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light as well. There are many desktop computers for free use, as well as an amazing (what a time to be alive!), automated laptop checkout station for library card holders. There are no family or gender neutral bathrooms, but the toilets in the women's & men's have water conservation flushing options. read more

I have always had a pleasant experience here aside from it being obnoxiously loud I didn't mind but today my sister & I were studying in a room and we got rudely kicked out. I tried explaining to the librarian that we got the room from 1:30-3:30 since it's only 2 hours & she said my time was over at 3 which was not true I tried to avoid arguing and left. I wanted to go ask the other librarian that originally gave me the room to ask why I got kicked out but she was no longer there. I would of appreciated if she was nicer about kicking us out 30 minutes early but sadly this is the closet library to my house read more

Brentwood CCCLibrary unfortunately removed my teenage special needs students from the children's section due to their age. Not only was this extremely disheartening as someone who spends many hours at our CCC libraries regularly but also as someone who's advocating on behalf of our marginalized students with disabilities. Shame on Brentwood Library! I'm extremely disappointed you chose to enforce such arbitrary rules. Not what the welcoming environment I thought CCC libraries stood to be. read more

Brought my daughter here because HALO had a read to the dogs program. The library is small but is quiet, clean and the employees are helpful and nice. Accordidng to one employee, as soon as the business next door moves to the brand new building being built across the park, they will take over that building and expand. This library is tiny but I can't wait for them to move in to their own building. In the meantime they've been doing an excellent job utilizing the space they have. We have been to several events here that the library has hosted. As for the actual library part, they still have their computers, their kids computer, a graphic novel section, and the librarians are really nice. The events the host are always really fun and the last time we were there, we got free As tickets! read more

I came here for their study room which you're only allowed 2 hours a day which is stupid. The old lady at the front didn't let me book the room after my friends 2 hours were up which is dumb considering I am a different person. The room only has one outlet, no blinds, you can hear the other room through the walls. read more

I do like this library and the staff and would give 5 stars, but this has got to be the noisiest library I've ever stepped foot in.

I love this location and it's clean modern look. We only moved to Brentwood 18 months back and have been using the library to get books ever since that date, even when it existed as part of the Community center. For some reason I do not feel the selection of books is nearly as good as it used to be. For a city the size of Brentwood the volume is quite small. More recently the selection seems to have gone down. New books classified as such are not always that new. And there a very few books for each author. Yes - I know you can do a search online and have them hold your books. But even that recently has been an issue. The number of holds has increased and the location for pick up is unwieldy. There are way too many books for the shelves and I have to literally get on my hands and knees to find mine - a problem for someone my age. Guess that is my problem for having a last name at the end of the alphabet. read more

Small room in the city office off Oak Street. They don't have much here (I'll explain below), but you can receive delivery of items here, if available at another Contra Costa county branch, within a couple of days. As always, if a book is currently checked out by other patrons, you may place a hold and will be notified via your preferred method (email or voice message). The "real" Brentwood branch is currently being renovated and expected to be complete within 2 years from the start date last November (2016). Of course I'm hoping for an early finish! The librarians are always friendly and helpful. This new makeshift/satellite library is truly just a filler but they do have 6-8 computers available should you need them for research, homework or other needs. In the likely situation that a book you looking for is unavailable, you are still able to request it to be delivered to this site from another branch in the county or an educational institution (via Link+). Besides the nuisance of not having a desired item immediately available, the staff continues to make Brentwood Library a positive experience and a fantastic place to borrow books, DVDs, an magazines as well as to have computer use time. A small corner is available for homework but I wouldn't recommend bringing more than 3 kids for such as it is really too small and would uncomfortable for any more. read more

They have various friendly and patient staff. I hear them working with alot of community members. The library is small but quite new. It has with no major room divisions as it is "open" all around. You basically hear everything that happens in the library from people talking with staff in the front, kids crying/playing, or the never ending beeping at the front entry for alleged stolen books/media. No study rooms. Free WiFi. 2 hour parking around the area. read more

I suggest to add more events in the library geared toward from children to the adults. Storytime telling, inviting authors to book sign and Book clubs and more Homework help, so kids would hang out more here than in the streets or use their ipads and gadgets. The library is actually being rebuilt so the current library is just a small room attached to city hall. HOWEVER, I gave this place 4 stars because of the staff. I have never met more helpful library staff in my entire life. The book selection.... very tiny. But we signed up for cards (just moved) and the woman went out of her way to go online and show me everything the library has to offer including ebooks, homeschool resources, research resources, free tickets to stuff... you name it. I had NO idea that libraries even had all of that and we have lived in SF, Alameda County, Santa Clara County.... normally it is here's your card dont lose it and that is about it. So.... needless to say we had a lovely little trip. I do wish there were more books though. We hope to check out the Oakley branch and see if temporarily that will be our go to library. read more

Aren't libraries supposed to be quiet? I've been to Starbucks that are much quieter. There were literally staff laughing at the top of their lungs in the front, and babies and kids crying all throughout. Impossible to focus. Wifi didnt work. 1 Star. read more
