I have an illnesses which causes me to vomit frequently, sometimes with no warning. I had an episode while in the Martin Dentistry office some time ago. It's not as though they didn't know or hadn't seen it. However, after being late to an appointment which was rescheduled I was ridiculed. Call me silly but I didn't want to uncontrollably vomit all over the dentist or hygienist. Frankly, it's a health risk. I could've easily choked on my vomit during treatment. You can be the best dentist but with an unprofessional, patient facing staff you will eventually lose business. Side note, somehow the office suppressed my Google review. Now I consider them unreliable.

HOWEVER, I will say that this is the first time from start to finish. I changed dentist due to my work and location so this past winter I was looking for a new dentist. I asked a co worker of mine and she recommended this dentist. I did my own research and decided to give it a whirl. The front office staff was great. And my hygienist was knowledgable, talked me through everything and even made a note in my chart about preferences much appreciated. Additionally, they do provide fluoride for their adult patients. This is crucial and I've been getting this ever since I've gone to the dentist. Meeting the dentist was great, she was personable and shared her advice with me about my concerns. She did not force me into any decisions and said it was my choice but she would air on the side of conservative treatment. Overall, it was a great experience and honestly I am not dreading my next appointment.

After completing that day's procedure I was billed $140 "co-pay", which was paid at that time. Next thing I know, invoices and account statements with a balance due. Called several times and every time the same answer: "don't worry, we'll follow up with the insurance company ". After receiving another invoice/account statement over the weekend, I discussed the situation again with the office and was then when I was informed that my insurance didn't cover because they're "out of network ". I asked why wasn't I informed before. I would've canceled my first appointment and go to a closer practice who accepted my insurance plan. Had to pay today to close my account. Disappointing experience and would not recommend this practice to anyone. Lack of communication was obvious and not in the best interest of the patient. Costly bad experience.

The receptionist said nothing as I explained insurance does not pay for cleaning only fillings and I didn't understand why there was no plan for care. I have…read morebeen a patient here since they opened in the previous building, and have never had this issue. They had the wrong phone number on file, so the text did not go through. Was told by the office manager, "That's your fault. It's not our job to update your phone number." In years and years of being a patient we have not missed a scheduled appointment or been late on a payment. Our phone number hasn't changed. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed, or if there is a new office manager. Either way we are getting a new family dentist.
