I purchased a Groupon from this dentistry for the sole purpose of getting my teeth cleaned. This dentistry has advertisement listings on Groupon for "Full exam, cleaning, and X-rays" for the price of $74 ( a $290 value). I got only X-rays and no cleaning or even the opportunity to meet the dentist. I was then told I'd need further work and that I would not be getting a teeth cleaning, it was then I was handed a bill for over $1300! This is a classic bait and switch situation scheme they are running, avoid this place as they are only looking to make a profit. By the way the dentist office was tiny and tucked in next to a bagel shop and donation center , half of the visible equipment while in the chair had to be at least 20 years old. Absolutely horrible! Brett Hawkins was in such a hurry to do my 2 fillings, rushed through it and was so overly irritated that he was having to do his job. I asked him if I should come back another time because he made it so uncomfortable. Should have left and followed my gut. I called the next day because I was having so much pain in my face and they couldn't get me in. Went in a couple days later because he damaged some nerves when doing the novocaine injection and my cheek, under my eye and side of nose were crawling with nerve pain. Front desk girl who called me at least 20 times for 6 months to get me to come in to see them again disappeared when I told her about this issue. The dentist was so defensive and rude when I told him something went wrong. Told me there is nothing he can do, didn't say sorry, ask any questions or pretend to care. Asked for his bib back as I started to leave The girl who has been there for years w him made more excuses and told me to see a specialist. No solution, no follow up calls. 0 concern. Went to 2 more dentists and a specialist and all 3 told me he should have never done a filling on that tooth to begin with. 1/4 of my face is numb and burning. It's extreme nerve damage and he doesn't give a shit. EVERY COMPLAINT POSSIBLE HAS BEEN FILED. Don't put your family through this. Would love to see how he handled it if someone talked to or treated his wife or kids the way he treated me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRASHY, SHADY PRACTICE. read more

My dad has been my dentist up until about a year ago, so I was nervous to have to see someone new when he retired. In addition, I'm in grad school and can't afford expensive dental care nor do I have insurance coverage for dental. I found a Groupon for $40 cleaning and X-rays and decided to give it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised by the staff here. Julie was my hygienist and so sweet; she did a great job cleaning my teeth and making me feel comfortable. Dr. Levin was kind, thorough, and timely. This place...it's all about the little things I swear! I started here using a groupon for a teeth cleaning w/ full x-rays since I don't have dental insurance. They were friendly and efficient both when scheduling and upon arrival. Most importantly, they were ON TIME. I was taken back and the hygienist was gentle and really friendly. She tried to get to know me and didn't "rush" through the cleaning. The doc came in & mentioned a few things I needed to have done but was honest about the time frame, gave me a printout of the estimate so I could plan for it and was thorough. The entire appointment was smooth from start to finish. Later I had an old retainer come off from my orthodontist days (15 years prior). It was cemented in. I called & they had me in right away, the doc decided it was something he could repair on his own. He charged me $50 to clean the teeth before putting the retainer back on then cementing the retainer. In, Out, Inexpensive, and a job well done. Love it! You're not going to walk in and see marble pillars or anything fancy but the service and efficiency is most important and you won't be disappointed. read more

OMG, where do I begin! It had been years since I went to see a dentist partly because of my lackadaisical attitude but mainly because of my FEAR of pain and the cost. First off, I chose Dr. Hawkins' dental office because it's located directly across from where I worked at the time. And, even though, I work further away now I still get my dental work done there. After my initial consultation three years ago, my fears were soon realized. I had a lot of dental work to do and Dr. Hawkins and his team stuck by me. I admit that I had not been the greatest patient. I would miss appointments on purpose, I never did my "homework" and I was reluctant to change my bad habits. One time I called to push back a crucial appointment for the second time, and I remember the receptionist saying, "Oh no, you don't. You have to come in for this one." It's like my teeth were more important to them than it was to me at the time. And I never get the feeling that it was about money, they really cared. They never showed disappointment even when they notice that my teeth showed no improvement from one appointment to another. Needless to say, they remained patient and encouraging while I got my act together. Now, I make it to all my appointments, do my "homework" and acquired better habits to keep my teeth. read more

I love Dr. Hawkins and how personable and friendly he is. The whole office is helpful and kind and as much as I dislike the dentist in general, I don't mind so much when coming to this office. I love that they are upfront about costs and the plan of care. You know exactly what you are in for each time you come in. They collaborate and communicate with you as best as possible to accommodate everyone's schedule as best they can. I have been going to Dr. Hawkins since I moved to Phoenix in 2008. I have always received great service from the professional staff, fantastic oral health recommendations from the hygienists and Dr. Hawkins is excellent insomuch that he does not sell unnecessary procedures and cares about his patients well-being. They are excellent about calling to remind you about appointments, sending a reminder postcard or reminder email. They also have hours that are convenient to many different work schedules. Over the last 7 years, I have had two old fillings replaced and two teeth extracted (for the purpose of adult braces) and all major procedures have had quick and relatively painless recovery. Luckily and thankfully, I have not had to undergo any other major dental procedures. A lot of this is due to the persistent care and recommendations given by Dr. Hawkins and his staff. Been a patient of Dr. Brett Hawkins for over 15 years and never had a bad experience. Dr. Hawkins and his staff are so good that I don't ever want to consider another dentist despite living farther away now. I really appreciate that their upfront cost for dental services(with insurance) are accurate so that you are not surprised with any last minute add-on charges. I am shocked that these people have such good ratings. I bought a living social coupon for a cleaning, exam and X-rays for $39 For my girlfriend who hurt a crown the night before on a piece of popcorn. I explained the situation over the phone and told them we were just interested in having at least that one tooth cleaned so it wouldn't be brownish looking. I asked them if they were going to be any additional charges over the coupon and they assured me that there would not be. I made absolutely sure of this because my girlfriend said that they were going to try to charge us for something else. The dentist refused to do the cleaning saying she needed a deep cleaning even though I know she takes terrific care of her teeth. I spoke to the manager and said that I had called and made an absolute sure that there wouldn't be any additional charges and she said all I needed to do was speak to LivingSocial and they would remove the charge. I spoke to LivingSocial and apparently the manager lied about us being refunded. I didn't like the dentist and it seemed to be a really shabby operation. There were no other customers in the whole place so I'm pretty sure all these great ratings must be done by people that they know. read more

This is the absolute best Dentist office I have ever been to. The office staff went out of their way to help me get the appointments I needed to leave the country in less than a week. Dr. Hawkins was friendly, professional, and above all he made you feel like a person instead of a patient. The office is very kid friendly and the staff makes you feel welcomed and like a part of the family. I HIGHLY recommend this dentist to anyone. I mostly saw the hygienists but they were very nice and gentle, but made efforts to make sure I got the best care and good quality x-rays. They scheduled me quickly and were upfront and reasonable about pricing. Best of all, they gave me a referral to an oral surgeon without trying to price-gouge me first, which I really appreciated. read more

So I went in to get a cleaning and I did have a Groupon that's what brought me there and I knew something was wrong because they told me the dentist Andrew Levin was going to do the cleaning and when Andrew Levin got in that's when it started telling me I have cavities I don't have telling me I need to replace teeth or tooth that I don't need to replace and then poked me in my gums until it started to hurt and Said they were inflamed and that I needed to do a deep cleaning so I get my teeth clean 3 to 4 times a year the last time I had it was a couple months ago. Thought I would try it since I had a friend that went there but obviously the $39 is to get you in so he can perform more expensive procedures that you don't need if I were you I would find another dentist and would tell Brett Hawkins to get rid of Andrew Levin before he ruins your business by performing unnecessary procedures on his victims to make a buck! Also went to my original Denist and told me that I never needed any of the stuff above. read more

I'm not sure whether or not they overbook here but when you show up at 9:55am for an appointment get escorted immediately to a dental chair then sit there until 10:30am and no one comes in at all, you kind of scratch your head. How can you fall almost 45 minutes behind when you've only been open since 8am? I got up and walked out the door. They didn't even acknowledge I even left until the next day (maybe that's when they noticed) and left a timid voice mail, not even apologizing but trying to lure me back with a discount. If you enjoy waiting unnecessarily in a dental chair when they have a perfectly good lobby to wait in I highly recommend this establishment. read more
