    My entire filling fell out.
    Emily R.

Save your mouth and your wallet a lot of hassle and DO NOT GO HERE. I normally don't use caps lock in reviews as I feel it's a little dramatic but, I don't know how better than yelling from the rooftops. So, first off, they bribe their clients to give them five star reviews with a $25 starbucks gift card. At first, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and nice their waiting room is. The nurses are very friendly and I was always in and out in less than 30 minutes each visit. In hindsight, that should have been my first red flag. -the dentist definitely rushes through the appointments. I never gave a review for the gift card because something about the dentist rubbed me the wrong way. He was pretty condescending. Now, it has been quite awhile since I'd been to the dentist. I had 8 cavities that needed to be filled. The first one he did was a tooth that had been sensitive for awhile. I felt a lot of pain while he was working on it and he seemed annoyed. "Can you hold on for a bit longer? I'm literally almost done." I tried but a few seconds later, it was too much. He let out a sigh and gave me two more shots of Novocain-or whatever is used to numb these days. One more would have done the trick. He was working in my bottom tooth and used so much that my eye was numb. Second red flag. Now I probably had five fillings done. I kept going because hey were quick and fairly cheap (we will come back to that). At one point I told him that every time I flossed between a certain tooth that was just filled, it was like electric pain throughout my whole body. He flossed a bit for me and told me "I'm not sure, looks fine to me." And then said they probably needed time to adjust. Okay, like I said, it's been awhile since I've been to the dentist. I also notice that he seemed to have really drilled down one of my molars to the point that when I closed my mouth, it doesn't touch the top tooth. It was at this point I silently made the decision to not go back. Flash to four months later, ANOTHER tooth he worked on started giving me trouble. I'm talking can't even chew on a piece of bread. I was drinking water today at work and the entire filling just fell out. So much pain. Kinda gross, but I want to let you know I'm telling the truth, so I'll post a photo. I don't think fillings should fall out four months later. Last but not least, I keep getting bills in the mail months later only to find out they messed up charging my insurance and I owe them a few hundred dollars. I went back to look at their reviews, sorted by lowest rating, and low and behold mishandling insurance and a condescending dentist and a mess up mouth are all over the reviews. DO NOT GO HERE

Thumbs up for this past place!

My first visit here for a root canal and I will definitely be a regular patient of Dr. Purcell! She was very understanding, explained everything as we went along, ensured I was comfortable with the process, and patiently answered all my questions. Her Dental Assistant, Ashley was super nice and kind, made me feel relaxed from my "dentist anxiety". Watching TV during the process, having computer monitors to show and explain images from your X-ray, and music playing over the loudspeaker helps to ease an anxious mind during stressful operations! Actually enjoying my trip to the dentist, I will be back more often!

Second day status post extraction - my temp dentures. In March, after a lot of healing, I'll get an even nicer permanent pair.

I very rarely post Yelp reviews, but this has been one of the worse experiences with a dental office I have ever had.

Ask the Community - Tempe Dental Care

How much does a filling cost without insurance?

Hi Johannah, it is hard to give a price on a filling without at least doing a limited exam. Fillings can be one surface composites up to 4 surfaces based upon the decay in the tooth.

How much does teeth whitening cost?

    Teeth whitening starts at $150.

Do you perform oral surgeries at this facility including wisdom tooth extractions?

Yes we do! We are a general practice that perfoms many types of procedures including wisdom tooth extractions. We also offer IV conscious sedation!

I am looking for a 24 hour dentist immediately. You popped up on my 24 hour search, however, your hours on your website say differently. Can you clarify?

Hi Jayna, The hours on our website are correct. Thank you!

It's changed for the worse since Dr. Forney was around. The new lead dentist, while nice seems to be pushing a capitalist treatment plan for all patients whether they need the service or not. The old hygienists were very patient and kind about my family's oral health, now they are using scare tactics to convince us to use all these treatments when they're not necessarily needed. I used to come here because the hygienists were my oral coaches and we would create plans together. Now it just seems they want to push all these extra treatments to get more money from each family member each time. I used to pay nothing/very little and now I'm paying for all these extra costs here and there that they're coding in their system. I used to be able to go for a cleaning every 6 months and my appointment wouldn't be longer than 30ish minutes. Now they're 5-10 minutes behind and go well over an hour to clean and they're not doing anything different. Seems like there are constantly new office people, they can't keep or hire another hygienist to save their life and all the original hygienists who I loved jumped ship (probably for the same reasons above). I'm looking forward to finding a new dentist to align with my and my family's values and would never recommend this place to any friends or family.
