I take great care of my teeth. Floss daily, brush twice a day. My former dentist left the state but I had my last cleaning in August. Yes, three months ago. I have one more cleaning left this year so I figured I'd go in. After the exam, the hygienist said that I need a deep cleaning. I asked why and said I take great care of my teeth and she said that it's mostly because my wisdom teeth were removed years ago, I never got a bone graft, and now I have holes in my jaw that have contributed to bone loss. What? Does this make sense? After suggesting multiple appointments, laser treatment, antibiotics, and deep cleaning, I was quoted $1,400 worth of treatments despite having decent dental insurance. And the worst part was I was pressured by the scheduler to "get it done, get it done," despite the hygienist having only 3 openings for the rest of the year. Naw. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I have been struggling with stress that caused TMJ and the loss of a molar. Dr. Z has explained everything to me and helped me work through the struggle of losing this tooth while explaining to me it was not my fault. I've been very very grateful for her professionalism, kindness, and humanity during this time. I have had two times during the process where I panicked and thought something was wrong with my healing, and then the implant and she was able to see me in a timely manner both times and explain to me why I was feeling what I was feeling in the area. I've been going to this practice for years. I agree with other reviews that the service has been declining recently. I was 11 minutes late for an appointment and they wouldn't see me because it was over 10 minutes. Now, most of the time I wait for them 10-15 minutes. I guess the late policy just goes one way. I've been a patient here for three years.. twice a year I'm here for a cleaning .. the staff is fast, friendly and efficient.. I never have to wait more then a couple of minutes in the waiting area. The dental hygienist, dentist and front desk staff take great care of you, checking in with you to make sure you're ok and telling you what's happening next. They charged $175 for the replacement retainer, that I cash paid and then they billed my insurance stating they replaced an appliance. I didn't even have any appliances in my mouth. 1. This dental office does not care about your time. I made an appointment with them for an initial cleaning. I was unable to go to my normal dentist that I have been going to for over 20 years (which I will explain later). At the time of making my appointment, nothing was mentioned about potentially not receiving a cleaning and only having an exam. The day prior they called to confirm my appointment and mentioned they might not have time to do the cleaning, depending on the type of cleaning I would require. I asked if it was just a standard cleaning, would they be able to complete it and they said yes. The day of my appointment I was taken back 20 minutes after my appointment time. The dentist (dr. Sayegh) asked me about any concerns and I mentioned one tooth that I was sure I would need a root canal one. She was very much focused on letting me know my teeth were discolored and that the only way I would be able to fix this would be to get veneers (which isn't my concern at this time). She seemed very unfriendly and didn't seem to want to talk. Next they took me for x-rays which seemed way more extensive than my normal x-rays (more on that later). I was then taken back into the exam chair and the doctor started charting previous filled cavities etc. and she said something and I asked her to clarify and she rudely brushed me off and said don't worry about it, its just for charting. I was taken aback that she wouldn't even try to explain what she was charting. I mentioned sensitivity in one area and she said to use Sensodyne and that she would give me some samples (she never gave the samples) Then I asked, ok will the hygienist now be doing the cleaning and she said she would go check. 25 more mins of sitting in the chair, the receptionist comes back to start quoting my prices on chlorhexidine rinse and fluoride treatment that they use in their standard cleaning but aren't covered by my insurance. I said ok to the prices and asked if they were coming to do the cleaning now. Another 10 mins goes by and the receptionist comes back and says no they are not. She then had to remove the spit guard, goggles and sit the chair up. I was completely dumbfounded that they essentially had just abandoned me in the chair and had left it up to the receptionist to finish the appointment. Then when I voiced this whole situation was frustrating and felt of the receptionist got very cold and stated "I don't normally work here, so I don't know". After spending 1.5 hrs at this office, I had x-rays completed, an "exam" with a rude dentist and that was it. I inquired if the cleaning was more than standard and they confirmed I would just have a standard cleaning. But still no explanation why they weren't completing it when I had an appointment (which I showed they had scheduled in their web portal.....). I figured maybe it was just an off day and I would give them another chance, so I made an appointment for my cleaning as well as for the root canal with the endodontist(who they only have availability for ONE day a month). 2. The day before my endodontist appointment they called to see if I could move my appointment earlier, which I reminded them I could not because of another appointment I had that day. I told them I had to keep my appointment time and needed to be out the door no later than 4:50 pm in order to pick my child up. The day of the appointment I arrived about 20 minutes early since my other appointment was done quickly. Immediately Libby at the front desk was rude and said "oh you are early" and I said yes, I will just wait for my appointment time. She told me I should go to Starbucks next door and wait as they were running a "little" behind. 30 minutes after my appointment for the root canal was to begin, I went and asked when I would actually be pulled back and they just said soon. I also mentioned if they are running this far behind, they should be calling to notify patients. I was getting very nervous because I would be late to get my child and to reschedule this appointment would mean waiting another month since the endodontist only comes once a month. 50 minutes after my appointment time I was pulled back to see Dr. Cipriano (the endodontist). After talking to him and his hygienist I realized they had no control over what this office was doing and they were scheduling root canal appointments every 30 minutes (logically they need at least 45 minutes per appointment), which causes them to fall behind all day. I felt terrible for Dr. C and the staff that travels with him as you could see they were very overworked. The only reason this isn't 1 star is I am trying to give some positive review for Dr. Cipriano and his team as they were amazing! I had never had a root canal before and Dr. C and his staff were amazing at calming my nerves and making me feel comfortable. After he took care of the root canal, I asked him if I would need a crown, and he was dismayed they hadnt scheduled me. read more

The whole staff here is great. I have been to other dentist offices and their style of communication was in a negative tone therefore leaving me feeling anxious and uncomfortable. However, Tempe Modern Dentistry has the best staff I have ever encountered in a dentistry office. They all have positive personalities and wonderful customer service skills. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, clean and comfortable. This office also does community outreach, during the holidays they accept can goods to donate and will then discount your bill. My experience with Dr Diamond was very nice. He is friendly and informative, enthusiastic and encouraging. Having dental work procedures can be uncomfortable or painful and there is no avoiding that. There is ambiguity between what you actually tell them you want done and what they actually do! I wasted 6 months of my life wearing braces again, only to have to wear a retainer for 22 hours and still have a gap after 2 hours of not wearing it. Granted, I was refunded, but Bernadette is not someone I would ever want to work with. She is trash. I had to reach out to the district manager to get things resolved. I had the worst experience at this establishment today. I'm very disappointed, I was made to feel unwanted as a patient. I had a 10:30 a.m. appointment for a general cleaning and sat in the waiting room for over 25 minutes! When I asked what is taking so long I was told someone would be getting to me shortly. Then I was asked if I would like to reschedule or just call to make another appointment. I will NOT return. The automobile dealership experienced personified. First they switched dentists without permission. Then they sat me in an uncomfortable dental chair and had me wait a total of 30 minutes to have them tell me I needed to replace an asymptomatic crown and have a "special" cleaning. The cleaning was $1500 and the crown was thousands. I haven't had a cavity in over 30 years and I am thoroughly asymptomatic. I found the experience unnerving as was their relentless pressure and game playing. Stay away from these unprofessional crooks. read more

Let me begin by saying that I am terrified of the dentist. I mean TERRIFIED! So terrified that I waited 11 years to make my next appointment. (BIG MISTAKE!!!) I am 18 weeks pregnant and have had horrible pain in my top left molar and I told my OBGYN about it. I was very impressed with the reputation that Tempe Modern Dentistry had and I called to make my appointment. The staff on the phone was very friendly and completely understood my fear. I showed up to my appointment and explained my situation about being 18 weeks pregnant and receiving a clearance letter from my doctor to provide me with dental work and oh the fact that I haven't been to the dentist in 11 years! Elise (I think that's her name??!! I was so scared her name could have been Tom) was so friendly and understanding. She made me immediately feel at ease and I was so grateful for it. I then met Dr. Payne who was AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! Absolutely the most gentle, patient, and hilarious dentist I have ever met. He told me that I do have several cavities but he wants to only focus on the tooth that is bothering me right now and make sure he gets me out of pain. Most dentists would try to take all of my money and talk me into tons of procedures! I ended up having a root canal done on Tuesday and a crown done on Wednesday. Went in today for a Basic cleaning. I don't have insurance & with Covid my business is down. I informed the hygienist this, yet she didn't listen & wanted to do other services she thought I needed. I might need that but again I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS. What a way to make someone feel awkward. At what point did it change ?? It's not up to the service provider to decide what I should be able to get!! Shouldn't the patient decide get what we can afford??? Seriously I informed her multiple times I couldn't do what she wanted & then she sent the front desk person back with a very high total for services & said this would be her service fee. DANGER! Do not have any dental surgery with this staff. The surgeon they brought it for a tooth extraction, Dr. Rozbeh Hossieni, sent me out the door without a post-op care plan and without informing me of 4 medications I was to begin taking immediately. When I started to have severe post-op reactions and severe pain, I called the emergency number and NEVER received a call back. I then called the office myself during their normal business hours and the receptionist, Libby, tried to tell me my reactions were normal and there was nothing to worry about. I demanded she report my reactions to the dentist who who asked for me to come in immediately for care. The dentist, Dr. Jenna Zonneveld, then proceeded to verbally bash the surgeon for a poor job extracting the tooth, misuse of sutures, and blamed him for not telling me about the medications I needed to start taking immediately. I requested a copy of my dental records and saw that they falsified my records citing that they had discussed with me a post-care plan and informed me of prescriptions called in. I confronted the surgeon about this who profusely apologized for the lack in care. Without question, this is a dangerous staff to be in the hands of for your dental needs. read more

Appointment was right on time. Receptionist remembered not only me, but my daughter as well. She confirmed and updated our appointments. The staff apologized for mtg different dental asst, but it showed me a lot of teamwork, knowledge where the other left off and respect for the patient by checking up on me the whole time. I'm highly upset at the unprofessionalism and lack of respect I was provided. I was a new potential patient, I shared what insurance I have. I was unable to confirm the exact type of Cigna insurance I have. Instead of the receptionist being courteous, she said she couldn't help me without the information. I explained I still wanted to set up an appointment and could callback with my EXACT information. She refused to set up my appointment and started to talk over me. when I asked what was the big issue, she replied well I have to put your paying cash if I don't have the information. I explained that was fine and she STILL refused to set up my appointment! I was treated unfair, how can someone assume I can't pay cash or that I have bogus insurance ?! This call/ conversation could have been a total different experience if the receptionist would have not been so eager to get me off the phone and actually tried to help me. I just left my new dentist who told me this info and said, "they're (Tempe Modern Dentistry) only after the big bucks (meaning major work, i.e. crowns, bridges, etc.)" and "they should never have put a bridge on this tooth," which had to be pulled. Also, I'm seeing a trend in the reviews. Are they treating some patients worse than others based on color or perceived income? Do your research!
