I am vacationing in the area and we stopped for some coffees one day to fuel up for shopping. The stand is clean and well lit. The menu was easy to understand and the employees were very nice. I rarely post these but would have given 4 stars except the male employee I think is the owner has now educated or corrected? me twice in drive thru. Both instances another employee was politely helping me at the window when he abruptly has tried to educate me on what I was ordering. His delivery sounded condescending. GREAT customer service with other employees. So following those 2 instances, I left the drive-through pissed off. Not cool. Wow- just saw am not the only one who has experienced similar from owner. These people are SERIOUS about their coffee! We came in to grab a quick drink and found we were overwhelmed with choices but were brought back down to earth with a delicious cup of cold brew. I'm a iced-coffee-year-round girlie so I ordered a cold brew and I was given a small primer on how cold brew came about. I had no idea it was originally created to be served hot. I only started drinking it because I have an angry tum-tum and this is the only thing I can stomach in the mornings. They gave me a small cup of cold brew heated up and it was fantastic! There was even crema on the top and it didn't need any milk or flavoring. Delicious. I can't wait to try their other stuff - I'm especially looking forward to their holiday offerings because something tells me that their peppermint mocha is gonna knock my reindeer-themed socks off. read more

I'm not a "real" coffee drinker, but I do like to treat myself every so often with a good coffee. Since I don't know coffee that well I leave it to the professional, and I ask for something large sweet cold or iced depending on what I'm feeling. Normally my service is great and I get something delicious! When I get the owner of the shop he always makes it very uncomfortable and unpleasant, very rude and not polite. He wouldn't even hand me my coffee after making my drink. The sign says we can make anything just let us know what you like. Unfortunately I'm not sure I want to go back knowing the owner himself can be so rude to his customers. read more

Just went to try this place for the first time and it says on here they are open til 7pm. We were sitting at the drive-thru waiting to have our order taken and a girl walked to the window, knocked on it, took her hand and waved it at her neck to say they were closed. She turned back around as my husband was trying to as what there hours were and totally ignored us. This kind of customer service COMPLETELY turns me off to a place! HORRIBLE!!! I'm a recovering coffee snob and didn't expect much excitement here. Wrong-o! This place has it right, and their service is excellent. My husband tried the black squirrel and he was pleased with his cup. It's an espresso with steamed milk and hazelnut flavor. Personally, I've only enjoyed the Mocha Madness - it's a frozen cup of espresso laden chocolate-y deliciousness, topped with whipped cream if you'd like and drizzled with chocolate syrup. I can confidently say that next time I am in the Morris area, I will not hesitate to stop by Brewed Awakenings. I stopped by and asked the lovely workers for their recommendations. They were so quick to list off their go-tos and gave me a white mocha iced latte. (I forgot the actual name, but they have super cute names for their flavors). Hands down, I have not had a better white mocha ever before! I will continue to think about this place and that delicious coffee until the next time I can stop by, that's for sure!! Decided on trying this location while in the area on business. Had a iced caramel latte and spicy Mexican mocha. This location has many different syrups and and can customize your drink. The menu was easy to read and there was lots of variety. The reason for the 3 stars was: one the espresso flavor just wasn't there, drink was watery but tasted ok. Two: the white chocolate pump was clogged and the counter girl stuck her bare finger in the pump to get it unclogged. It was definitely not the right thing to do in front of a customer. read more

I need to preface this with I've worked in coffee, like independent shop with roasterie coffee. I've been to cuppings. I can dial in a shot. I can taste then things are off. I'm not saying it was, but my hot Americano tasted like yesterday's food service ground coffee pack drip brew that sat it the air pot overnight and came to me in a cup straight out of the microwave. I have been a customer here for over 7 years. This last experience was beyond belief. I understand the need for infection control and to charge for a coffee, but to charge $1.75 for a small cup of water is money grubby and tacky. There have also been incidents where the owner would prefer to be right than to communicate with the customers. It's off putting and frankly uncomfortable for the patron. Will not be back again. We come to Morris every year around the holidays to see family. Every year I'm so excited to go to Brewed Awakenings daily while I'm in town! But this year, we had some issues multiple days in a row: we ordered cappuccinos with almond milk and soy milk. First of all, the non-dairy milk brands on hand are NOT approved for steaming and are low quality. There are specific non-dairy milks to buy and stock as a coffee company that makes espresso drinks. These non-diary milks have stabilizers in them to be able to steam or heat the liquid. In the past, I have not had this issue at Brewed Awakenings - this may be a new product stocking issue. I worked as a barista in another city and every non-dairy milk was tested before it was stocked to make sure it was stable to steam. Non-dairy milks are notoriously hard to steam, but the low quality, non-stable milk was inexcusable. While not every coffee shop can test this, maybe cutting on costs for low quality non-dairy milks isn't the best option here. Second, the barista the first day I ordered an almond milk cappuccino was very friendly and re-made the drink because it obviously wasn't steamed correctly. That was very kind of him and much appreciated. The second day we ordered, an older man was working at the espresso bar and was rude to us from the beginning of the experience, impatient in letting us order, then continued to say "There will be no foam on these because the milk is hard to steam", then did not even try to steam the milk correctly. I got a flat, lukewarm, soy "cappuccino" - NO foam at all. Luckily I bought a logo mug in the shop and wasn't charged for my drink. Love Brewed Awakenings, but will not be getting a non-dairy cappuccino any time soon! read more

I just happened upon this place while stopping for food on a road trip, and thought coffee would wake me up for the rest of the drive. I had such a nice experience for just a random visit! The staff were friendly and efficient, the place was clean and very cute inside, and they had a nice selection of drinks and baked goods. I got the Kahlua flavored latte and a huge coffee cake muffin. Both were absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Decided i would like some coffee while in the area and looked this place up. Said they were open so I diverted off my route home to go here. Stopped here at 4:15...Yelp says they are open until 7pm. Their door says they are open until 5. The door was locked and there was a worker mopping the floor and when I knocked he completely ignored me! I try to solicit small businesses to keep them in business but if they can't even stay open when they say they are going to be open then I take my business elsewhere...and small business wonders when large chains are winning out.
