Very poor experience with the owner, which I verified with many people. Tried to Order drinks that weren't specific to his menu but are very common orders at both Dunkin' and Starbucks. He belittled me, was sooo unkind and treated me so poorly I just wanted to drive away. Spoke with many people who all love the coffee and employees but always have a poor experience when this man is working. I will unfortunately never returned and will spend the extra time to walk into Starbucks across the street just to avoid this man. In the mood for some coffee in Morris, Illinois? What a coincidence, I was also! This little coffee shop is right off 80 in the same general building as the subway. It even has a clever and convenient drive through window. No excuses for not being wide awake now! If you drive through don't fret that you are missing a magnificent coffee house vibe inside, cause really, you're not. It has a sort of fast food restaurant vibe inside which doesn't really matter because as the perky barista told me, life is too short for bad coffee. I tried their caramel macchiato and it was pretty darn good and it seemed to get better as the drink went on so some of that lovely caramel must have slipped on down the cup. I liked it a lot and really enjoyed sipping it as we drove home, it kept me awake the whole way. I am glad to know it is here because every once in a while I drive out here to shop at a favorite quilt shop and now I know there is a terrific independent coffee shop right there also. This is the best coffee house in grundy county! The drinks never taste half-baked. We have had a Starbucks down the road from brewed for a couple years now and I have never gone because brewed awakening is so much better. I actually drive to the next town over to get coffee and tea from here. They are quick in the drive through and always friendly. I will make this quick and to the point. I'm from Seattle and this coffee is truly Amazing. The beans come from Oregon. The Barista's know what they are talking about. The owners are friendly. And most importantly it tastes wonderful. Here's what you need to know: 1) Great espresso 1.5) Their Americano's come with 3 shots of espresso!! 2) Black coffee (drip blends) are really nice having blondes, darks and in-betweens 3) The Cold Brew, or Iced Coffee, or Iced Toddy - whatever you would like to call it depending on where you are from is some of the best I've ever had. 4) They have alternate options for milk including Soy, Skim, 1/2 and 1/2, Cream and I think Almond Milk 5) An Array of flavors if you are looking for a fun drink like a Caramel Latte, Hazelnut Americano, Mocha's Galore 6) Friendly, clean atmosphere. 7) Great WIFI Connection!! Anyway, I checked into Brewed Awakenings on Yelp and instantly received a 10% off coupon. Off to a good start..... I got the Large Iced Carmel Macchiato. The first time I went to this coffee shop I didn't know what to order so I just got a hot chocolate. The owner confronted me and said that that wasn't truly what I wanted to order and asked what I would normally get at a different coffee shop like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. So I told him and he made another drink for me and it was on the house. They definitely earned my business after that awesome first impression! Their drinks are amazing! And they can make anything any time of year instead of having just seasonal favorites. Any time my family comes into Morris they always insist we go get coffee from Brewed Awakenings! Friendly, fast, and tasty! Great regular joe, and fantastic flavored yums! I love me some Snowy Mountain (and it makes me giggle, because it sounds like a sex act, bhahbahha). I've rolled through here several times - on my way to work, during a sunny day drive, and hungover after Corn Fest. Of course this rad coffee shop opens in town after I move away from Morris....BUT....everytime I'm back I make a point to go. Great espresso, great brews. I never mess around with that sugary syrup stuff, but I hear they have quite the variety. They also have a good variety of dairy-free milks, at least, more than you'd find in Illinois. My only complaint is the lack of "for here" cups, and the lids they use on the cups just mute and distort the true flavor of the coffee. I hope they fix this soon. They also had a punchcard going for a while but I hear they're discontinuing that. Bummer. Other than that, high five. read more

First of all- great espresso. Second- they have a really wide selection of Sugar Free syrups. I was so excited I almost couldn't make up my mind. Starbucks has three (maybe four). This place- something like ten. The barista (the owner's son I think) was also really conscious of how sweet sugar free syrups can be and added just the right amount to make me forget I was drinking something sugar free in the first place. Really easy access too- lots of parking and a convenient drive up window (I went in though). Really nice break from the franchises. I don't live in the area but I have to visit again later this week to pick up something and I will absolutely go here again. read more

After an amazing ride in the area (eagles, northern harriers, deer and owls) we needed some coffee. Had my wife plug in coffee to her phone and Brewed Awakenings was 1st place to show up. We had just left Goose Lake Prairie SP and the shop was on our way. As we approached there were quite a few cars at the drive thru which to us was a good sign. We ordered 3 of their signature mochas and were amazed. The 1.25 hour drive back home was a joy sipping these drinks. Will definitely stop back next time we take "the drive". read more

I'm a regular costumer and I was having a good day, was excited to get my coffee and go! Then.. I get to the window and me and my friend ordered coffee and used both our cards and asked this "TYLER" character to pick one of our cards. He proceeded to tell us "i don't care which card, just give me money or you're not getting your drinks" kind of fucking rude.. ruined my day and i'm just very confused on why he snapped at us the way he did. Co-worker said he has "anger problems", don't work at a place where you have to deal with people regularly if you're just gonna be rude. I love the coffee here, about 80% of the time. I like to support local businesses so I make a point to come here instead of Starbucks and no other coffee places in town can really compare to the two. But I get the same two things every time and sometimes they are very inconsistent. I also have a pet peeve of places not filling your drink enough. And when you order a drink and it's an inch or more below the top of the cup it just feels like your not getting your money's worth. read more

I am not a big one for coffee shops, so it takes a lot for me to a.) go into one, and b.) be so affected by one that I share my good tidings with the whole of the Yelp community. But honestly, I would give Brewed Awakenings a 6 star review if I could! For a recent work meeting off site in Morris, I was put in charge of acquiring coffee supplies for a group of 50 people. There was a Dunkin' Donuts right down the street from our meeting site, but the Yelp reviews encouraged me to drive a bit further and check out what makes Brewed Awakenings so special. I got 3 big boxes of coffee to go, which I was able to order by phone ahead of time. The boxed coffee to go is the same size as the stuff you can get at the chain stores, but cheaper and WAY better. The guy helping me packed me up a big to go box of all the sides and coffee accessories that my employees would need to thoroughly enjoy their caffeine, and gave me instructions on how to keep everything hot. While I was waiting for him to get my order together, he even offered me a free cup "on the house," which I happily took him up on. I had a Christmastime hot chocolate (rich and creamy hot chocolate with a hint of peppermint, and a foamy layer of marshmallows on top) and it was as delightful as it sounds. And, needless to say, my work group raved about their coffee as well. I sure do wish that we had a Brewed Awakenings up in the western 'burbs too.
