Tomato spinach quiche and mushroom tortellini soup of the day. DELICIOUS.

An absolute gem of this small town! We arrived right when it opened which was a plus because it got packed. The only downside to this place was the limited hours (few hours per day, a few days per week, AND seasonal). The food was scrumptious and service was top notch. We had the strawberry salad, tomato spinach quiche with mushroom tortellini soup (both specials of the day), and the blonde brownie and coconut cake. All superb and so flavorful. We also enjoyed our tea selections, and it's impressive that they have so many caffeine free options. Highly recommend working around the difficult hours and making it in because the food and ambiance are just outstanding.

Very cute unique little restaurant. The decor is just too cute with all the antiques. Definitely girly place, not a man in there. Service was great they are pretty quick. Food was excellent very tasty. I had the quiche and my granddaughter had a chicken salad sandwich. Portions are on the small/med side. Not tiny but we cleaned our plates. They fill the plate with a lot of potato chips to make it look like you're getting more. Prices are $$$ for what you get but the taste did not disappoint. Not a place I would go to on a regular basis but a nice treat if you want something unique.

    Strawberry lemonade is delicious

One of my favorite places to go for lunch when visiting the area. The establishment is proudly owned and run well by the kindest people who have a great menu with incredible decorating talent! The tea room is shabby chic with mismatched china, and beautiful tea linens used as a banner across the room. It's very lovely and perfect for a ladies get together, mother/daughter time, girls tea, or just an adorable spot to get a delicious meal. I highly recommend exploring a new to you tea, having cold strawberry soup is a must, and their cranberry chicken is amazing. The service is always friendly and kind. I just love this idyllic charming spot!

Good food, fun design. The staff was friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect with the food from reading the menu. But it was delicious. They had a wide selection of tea to choose from. I loved the mix and match tableware it just worked.

A toast to the birthday girl!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Letty's teahouse yesterday. One of the friends was celebrating her birthday. It couldn't have been more perfect. It's a beautiful vintage setting inside. The service was wonderful our server. Brooke did an excellent job and all the other servers checked in as well. They all wish the birthday girl a happy birthday.. The food was outstanding delicious. We all had something different and it was so fun to look at all the things on the table and on the wall. This is definitely a girlfriend Place place but in saying that my husband also enjoyed going there with me. If you have a special occasion or just want to lift your spirits, this is the place to go. I was so happy to find it. I recommend it.

What a cute cafe! The decor is something worth seeing. Vintage/ antique/ country tea room. Cute glass tea cups at every table & glass mason jars. Perfect place to get together for girlfriends, family, or just to grab cake! Our server Paul was amazing, he made sure we were taken care of. And replaced my French drip coffee because coffee grounds got into my coffee. :-) I really liked the strawberry salad. Probably my favorite. But everyone seems to love the strawberry soup (cream based smoothie). And now the desserts! From cookies to cakes to scones & cupcakes! They got it all!! The lemon cake was a personal fav!

So you want to throw a baby shower? Host it at Letty Mae's, whether you're expecting 20 people or 40. We had 39 guests at ours, taking up both floors of this former bank and night club. Owner Jan and her staff were so easy and accomodating to work with that our shower went without a hitch. Plus, the interior is adorable, the teas are cozy, and the food is impressive. (Right down to the croutons!) I have nothing but nice things to say about Letty Mae's, and I look forward to returning for lunch on the patio.

Our first time to Letty Mae's was wonderful! We arrived as a party of two and had to wait a minute but it was worth the few minute wait!!! We were greeted by friendly staff and ordered a few things on the menu to try. I had the quiche, which came with soup and potato chips. Wow the mushroom soup and quiche were fantastic and the side of chips was a nice light crunch. My husband ordered the deli sandwich and it was very fresh! We ordered a taste of Letty Mar's salad plate to share and all of the salads were so good we were fighting over the chicken salad! It came with the cold soup which to our surprise was really different and good! We had their original and flavorful iced teas and sweets to go! We were stuffed and the food was homemade and so unique. The goodies we took home were a s'mores bar, a mint cookie, and a mounds flavored cake -oh boy is all I can say!! Needles to say we loved Lettty Mae's told our family and friends and can't wait to come back!!!!

Half chicken salad on a croissant with side salad, potato chips and vanilla chai.

This was a cute little place to have tea, lunch and desert with my niece, sisters and our mom. The chicken croissant sandwiches and side (strawberry) salads were delicious. As were the veggie quiche I'm told. The raspberry scones and coconut cake were ok though they seemed a little dry. The meals were fresh. They serve water in mason jars, a cute touch. The service is impeccable. Very nice staff and or owners. This was a cute place to spend the morning.

    Cuter in person!

Alpine Coffee Bar is one of the few places that can even be argued to be cool. Has the basics and not much else. The prices are okay for this kind of thing. A drive to the park is when we came in for coffee and a bite. It was very quiet in here. This is probably always quiet. Coffee selection is pretty pedestrian. There's nothing fancy, just basic stuff. It's about $5 for a latte. They do have non dairy milk. As for the food, there's hardly anything. It's $3 for a bagel. These are pretty boring bagels as well. Oh well, we just needed anything to get us going. The inside is pretty clean but it seems like a boring atmosphere to be honest. Came in because it was about the only place open in town so we didn't have much of a choice. It's hardly what could be considered cool or hip. The coffee is mostly boring and there's hardly any food options.

I was heading past Morris on my way back to Chicago and called a friend for a recommendation of a…read morecoffee shop. Without hesitation, he enthusiastically said, Alpine Coffee Bar, you'll love it!" I made my way from the interstate a short way to the charming main street (Liberty). It reminds me of the small town near where I grew up, except for being a few blocks further. The wide street and old town main street architecture and ambience are well worth a visit. The cafe itself is warm and cozy, and the proprietors were great. Excellent coffee and poppyseed scone, fun conversation, and a great place to work for a little while, perched in the larger side room at the workbench-style counter along the front, looking out at the street through the windows of an old garage roll-up door with floor to ceiling glass panels. The owners even humored me to sing a selfie Christmas message for my friend. Fortunately for you, I'll share some photos, but will spare you our selfie video. Morris is perched along the Illinois River and close to the Des Plaines Dolomite Prairies Land & Water Reserve, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, Starved Rock State Park (one of my favorite places in Illinois)... I was also inspired to check out a little history on Wikipedia. I always enjoy the origins and formation of cool small towns. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris%2C_Illinois "...The Allen Paper Car Wheel Works were based on East North Street in Morris, which supplied the Pullman Palace Car Company in Chicago from 1867 to 1890 with composite wheels for their railway carriages.[14][15] By the 1920s, the paper mill had become one of the largest employers in Morris, producing cardboard boxes of various shapes, sizes, and colors that were shipped throughout the US.[16]" "...In early 1960, the world's first electronic switching system was installed at the Morris central office.[18] The system was a milestone in telephone switching history, an experiment whose planning started in the early 1950s, and led to the largest sustained research and development program toward a single goal in the Bell System..." Much of the power for not just the state, but the whole region, is generated nearby from nuclear power plants and wind turbines. Since I'm in the electric transmission and distribution business, and a big fan of carbon-free power, I enjoyed that element.
