Letty Mae's Tea Room is such a special place. The moment you walk in, it feels warm, cozy, and welcoming--like visiting grandma's house, but with a beautiful vintage style. There's so much to look at everywhere you turn, it's easy to lose track of time just taking it all in. I loved all the little details, like the spools of thread on the light fixtures and the bed headboard used as a railing. The mix of antiques, vintage cloth, and bright, colorful decor makes the whole space feel fun, classic, and full of charm. The food was amazing. The pastries were so soft and delicious--they really do melt in your mouth. The main entrées were just as good--full of flavor and perfectly portioned, leaving you satisfied without feeling too full. The tea was served so nicely and made the whole experience feel extra special. The service was just as great. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and quick. An absolute gem of this small town! We arrived right when it opened which was a plus because it got packed. The only downside to this place was the limited hours (few hours per day, a few days per week, AND seasonal). The food was scrumptious and service was top notch. We had the strawberry salad, tomato spinach quiche with mushroom tortellini soup (both specials of the day), and the blonde brownie and coconut cake. All superb and so flavorful. We also enjoyed our tea selections, and it's impressive that they have so many caffeine free options. It is a 45 minute drive to get to Letty Mae's from my house(well worth it!). We took a friend for a birthday lunch. It was Spring Break in Morris, I'llinois. Your tea room was busy, with most tables full. They apologized, telling us that they only had two waitresses, with some staff on vacation. They explained that service might be slow. We did not feel service was slow. The atmosphere was charming, the food delicious, and our waitress was efficient, warm, and welcoming! I'm sure the employees went home exhausted, but in a busy, less than ideal situation for them, quality and service absolutely did not suffer! If you haven't visited this Tea Room, check it out! Very cute unique little restaurant. The decor is just too cute with all the antiques. Definitely girly place, not a man in there. Service was great they are pretty quick. Food was excellent very tasty. I had the quiche and my granddaughter had a chicken salad sandwich. Portions are on the small/med side. Not tiny but we cleaned our plates. They fill the plate with a lot of potato chips to make it look like you're getting more. Prices are $$$ for what you get but the taste did not disappoint. One of my favorite places to go for lunch when visiting the area. The establishment is proudly owned and run well by the kindest people who have a great menu with incredible decorating talent! The tea room is shabby chic with mismatched china, and beautiful tea linens used as a banner across the room. It's very lovely and perfect for a ladies get together, mother/daughter time, girls tea, or just an adorable spot to get a delicious meal. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Letty's teahouse yesterday. One of the friends was celebrating her birthday. It couldn't have been more perfect. It's a beautiful vintage setting inside. The service was wonderful our server. Brooke did an excellent job and all the other servers checked in as well. They all wish the birthday girl a happy birthday.. The food was outstanding delicious. We all had something different and it was so fun to look at all the things on the table and on the wall. This is definitely a girlfriend Place place but in saying that my husband also enjoyed going there with me. If you have a special occasion or just want to lift your spirits, this is the place to go. So you want to throw a baby shower? Host it at Letty Mae's, whether you're expecting 20 people or 40. We had 39 guests at ours, taking up both floors of this former bank and night club. Owner Jan and her staff were so easy and accomodating to work with that our shower went without a hitch. Plus, the interior is adorable, the teas are cozy, and the food is impressive. Lovely place with nice decoration, perfect for instagram photos. I truly enjoyed the interior design which reminds me the tea rooms in England. Servers are nice and friendly. This is my second time in this place, the first time I had strawberry salad and the salad was sad, the plate had many cracks on and I had to throw the salad away. The salad came with a scone and the scone is very skinny for what it is. Today I ordered half soup and sandwich plate. I think the lunch portions should not really have chips served with it. It is not a fast food place so chips do not really have any place in there. Most of the plate comes with full of potato chips. They need to find something else to substitute it with. Our first time to Letty Mae's was wonderful! We arrived as a party of two and had to wait a minute but it was worth the few minute wait!!! We were greeted by friendly staff and ordered a few things on the menu to try. I had the quiche, which came with soup and potato chips. Wow the mushroom soup and quiche were fantastic and the side of chips was a nice light crunch. My husband ordered the deli sandwich and it was very fresh! We ordered a taste of Letty Mar's salad plate to share and all of the salads were so good we were fighting over the chicken salad! It came with the cold soup which to our surprise was really different and good! We had their original and flavorful iced teas and sweets to go! We were stuffed and the food was homemade and so unique. The goodies we took home were a s'mores bar, a mint cookie, and a mounds flavored cake -oh boy is all I can say!! You will love this place the minute you hit the door - it is decorated in a shabby chic style. Isn't that a great way to call old slightly used but funky and fun decorative pieces? I think middle age needs to be rebranded, think about it while you read the review. All the tables are set with vintage tablecloths, tea cups and napkins that go together but don't match. There is a glass top on each table with the menu under the glass top at each place. Clever and useful. There are the normal ladies do lunch type choices of sandwiches, muffins, salads, soup, beverages and combinations. I had A Strawberry salad with greens, chicken, cucumber, sprouts, red onion, strawberries, pecans, parmesan and croutons. It came with a cup of strawberry soup and a blueberry muffin. I gobbled up every bit of it and enjoyed fresh iced tea along with it. My girlfriend and I split the Neopolitan cake and I had a pot of Cinnamon plum tea for dessert. Lovely! This was a cute little place to have tea, lunch and desert with my niece, sisters and our mom. The chicken croissant sandwiches and side (strawberry) salads were delicious. As were the veggie quiche I'm told. The raspberry scones and coconut cake were ok though they seemed a little dry. The meals were fresh. They serve water in mason jars, a cute touch. I'll go counter-culture here, and start with the food. Which was great. I ordered the beef sandwich, and my wife went with the Cobb Salad (which was an egg salad sandwich, with tomatos and onions. Both sandwiches were served on fresh swirled bread, with a thick slice of tomato, onions you could actually taste, and sauce. However, we started with their soup - they had a spinach bisque that was mixed with a cheesy broth, and it was really good. We finished up with a slice of their chocolate cake that we shared. Now, for the decor - it's like going back in time to your great aunt's kitchen, from the lamp on the table to the coffee cups and flatware. Everything in the place for the guests is retro-deco, and it played off nicely. The place was packed for lunch on Friday, so factor that into your plans. We were seated promptly, but it took a few minutes for the harried server to pick up our order. She was good though, and stayed in touch with us throughout our stay. I LoVe it here! They have a quaint antique kinda vibe. It feels like having a meal in your great grandmother's kitchen. They have a very homemade menu. The staff is very personable. Highly recommend "The Maggie " it's a chicken salad sandwich on on a Croissant with strawberries in it. The tea is very good. I could sit and drink multiple pots of the gunpowder green.
