I wanted to write a review because I worked here for about a month before being suddenly fired. The owner is nice, but her husband, who manages everything, created a very uncomfortable work environment. He frequently brought up politics, demographics, and "statistics" at work in ways that felt inappropriate and often came across as biased. It wasn't the kind of environment I expected from a workplace. I personally chose not to engage with these conversations because I was there to work, and I try to keep my personal beliefs separate from my workplace. However, being repeatedly exposed to these types of comments from management made the environment feel unprofessional. I also noticed that he would tell us certain employees had quit, but after speaking with those employees, I learned that was not always what happened. This made me feel like there was a lack of honesty and transparency in how situations were handled. One comment that really stuck with me was when he told me and another young female employee that we'd be prettier if we spoke more intelligently and that men would like us more. We are both very young girls, and that comment was incredibly inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. I was also told that if I came in early every day, I would receive a $1 raise. I did exactly that, and I received the raise on my final paycheck. Just a few days later, I was fired. It was confusing to be recognized with a raise and then immediately let go without being given a meaningful explanation. I was told I was being fired because I supposedly had an attitude with a customer. When I asked what had happened, I wasn't given a clear explanation and was simply told they had decided not to continue my employment. I work hard, take my jobs seriously, and I rarely leave negative reviews because I know everyone is trying their best. I didn't contact them afterward because I felt I had already been treated disrespectfully. After the way I was spoken to and the lack of honest communication, I didn't feel another conversation would have changed anything. As a customer, I also found the food to be average, especially for the price. Before I even worked here, my mom and I had cheesecake from the café on a few different occasions, and every time it had a noticeable freezer-burn taste. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality. Based on my experience as both an employee and a customer, I would encourage people to support another family-owned café instead. read more

I've had chocolate abuelita and it has a very certain taste. This one was just grainy and had absolutely no chocolate flavor. I would come back but would try something else. read more

This Kafe and s WELL worth the drop. I drive by often when out west. My first time here I'm ashamed I passed by so many times and never stopped in. Situated just off of Rt 30 / Lincoln Highway in Cresthill IL on the side of the road it's a little red house with a decent sized parking lot. Super cute and way cozy. I always notice the patio that folks sit on early mornings and decided it was time. Upon entering I had three super friendly women say hello to me. It's larger than it looks with seating inside in nice booths and really well decorated. It's also very clean and customers keep rolling in on way to work. The staff is awesome and the women I spoke to informed me that they've been there about 5 years and that all the pastures are made in house. These are not average d eryday pastries they are luxurious treats beautifully created at a reasonable price. The in house bakers need a huge shout out along with the entire staff. Their coffee is really good too, string but not at all overwhelming. Actually excellent stop. I'm sure they will be seeing more of me. Bought a abuelita frappe, a Nutella danish, and some coffee beans. two massive chunks of the chocolate mix was in my drink so I didn't get a whole lot of liquid, but the drink itself didn't taste like coffee at all just sugar and chocolate. The Nutella danish that was incredible however! the beans on the other hand were roasted beyond imagination these beans were super stinky when I opened the bag it aired out a little after a day but I tried to make coffee with it and it clogged my grinder up they're super oily and dark beans. I had to toss the bag I had no other choice. there goes 16 bucks and a mess I gotta deal with! DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

Incredible drinks. My wife had the Coconut milkshake. It was in the middle consistency of a thick shake and glass of milk; if that makes sense. On the thinner side for sure; but not too thin. Went in to buy some beans to make espresso at home and the girl opens a fresh bag of unmarked beans that are a dark roast. No date on the bag of when they were roasted. Sells me a pound and all she can tell me is it's a Brazilian dark roast no other info of flavor profile or anything or roasted date. Once I got home I thought she put black beans in my bag. These things are so over roasted a burnt smell like it would work 60% of the time every time !!! If you like an oily black been to mess up your grinder with then purchase here. First time visiting and I can tell I'm gonna be a fan! I walked in and saw the pastry case full of different options if you have a sweet tooth. I personally enjoy a banana muffin, so I got that, and it was phenomenal! Very moist and flavorful. Along with my pastry I got their cinnamon chai. It wasn't as flavorful or spiced as I hoped it would be, but to their credit, cafes never really seem to get the flavor of chai right. It was pretty decent though. When walking you're welcomed by a great arrangement of pastries, Cookies, macarons, a very colorful cheesecake selection. For a small location, it's perfect for a writing space or a hangout location. The service is good and isn't fake, all you could ask for. I hope they continue to improve the location. The prices are pretty affordable on most things. It makes it worth a trip to Crest Hill. Luckily it wasn't too far away so it was a nice pick me up one cold morning. This is a place that looks like a little house so it's easy to miss the first few times. Has a surprisingly big list of coffee. They have the usual stuff plus things that are more unique. A good one is the Oreo Latte. It's $5 for a regular. This is made with choice of milk and has actual Oreo pieces. Sugar high. The pastries look pretty good too. It's about $3 or so for each. They don't seem to have any vegan ones so that's one thing here sucky. Has only a few tables all of which are inside. It can be hard to get a seat. They usually aren't too busy though. read more

I always like to promote small businesses, but they need to learn how to treat people that give them daily orders with respect and know that if I am a regular, why is it so hard to have my drink correct, and they to no longer allow my business on their error is sad.
