My mother just moved to a retirement community. She is on a walker & couldn't physically participate in the move from her home. Mr. Brewer coordinated with both my mother & myself through emails & text messages. His communication helped make the move run smoothly. He was patient when I had to contact my mother to find out about moving certain items. He helped my mother determine what furniture items would actually fit in her new home & the configuration. He was highly professional & covered the doorway & stairwell with blankets to protect her old home while moving out. He & his employee had some very heavy furniture, along with stairs, to deal with. Every piece was wrapped in blankets & Saran. All of the pieces of furniture, even antiques, arrived in excellent condition. They transported 3 large potted plants too. Mr. Brewer did everything possible to assist my 87 year old mother, even assist her with things she forgot to request. From the beginning Jared (the owner) was great to work with and his was the only company that I could find in the area that provided a quote based on the entire move, not an hourly price. I called around to several places to get quotes and Jared was the most responsive and I really just felt like he wanted our business more than the other companies we spoke to. Since posting my original HONEST feedback the owner (as you can clearly see from his extremely desperate response) has sent numerous threatening text messages to my husband. Begging for us to remove our feedback. Do know the customer is 4/5 times correct and in this case I do not believe I fall in the minority. The company is unprofessional and disrespectful. They do not care about the work they do and they do not value honest feedback in service of bettering their offerings. There are moving companies to compare Brewers to and I urge you to take the time and vet your moving partner before choosing based of these reviews. As about prep help and move help even if it seems obvious a service that should be included. Just getting around to writing this review we used brewer moving again in November of 2020 to move into out of our old house into our new house. Once again they didn't disappoint. Moved everything in one load and even helped us move stuff inside the house. Will recommend to people. read more

So, first thing, you can go to their website and see one of their slogans: "There's nothing we can't handle." Apparently there is something they can't handle. We attempted to get a quote from them more than two weeks before our expected move. What started out positive went downhill, fast. The first phone call was helpful and Brewer stated they had the date and man power available. No problems. We even sent a link to our selling listing to give them a rough idea of our stuff. A little later, we get a text saying that they will be unable to do the job because our 5 bedroom, 2400 square foot house is too big to do on one day, in the heat, with the men they had available. Suffice to say, we were really confused because they hadn't even come out to see our house/stuff to give us a better estimate. Several, and I do mean several, other movers said they could do the house in one day, even in the heat, without issue and we ultimately found one that did the job wonderfully. The only reason I didn't give 1 star is the (apparent?) willingness to do the job over two days. I'm glad so many other people have had good experiences with Brewer but I felt compelled to offer a real world counter experience. If you positively need to get out in one day, no matter what the weather is doing, I'd consider looking elsewhere. Some things, they just can't handle. Edit: Post Response - I sincerely tried to be fair and honest with my review, and find the unprofessional tone of the reply disheartening. I don't need a lesson on how business works (I've helped run three for years). As an attorney (hell, as someone who can use Google!) I know what labor law requires of companies who work in the heat - saying that plain and simple, his company wouldn't do the work weeks in advance of knowing what the weather would be is silly. Labor law requires breaks, shade, and access to cool conditions and water. I can safely assume that Brewer didn't stop all jobs last week during the heat wave. And we were more than willing to help provide cool conditions, water, and be more than patient in terms of time within the window we had to the company we used. I think the guys who came out can attest to that. And most importantly, the comment to have future customers ignore my review because I'm an "obviously irritated potential customer" is the silliest thing. This is Yelp. The entire site is dedicated to potentially irritated (and happy) customers giving their opinions, both good and bad. Just as Brewer was free to turn down our job based on not actually looking at our home and based on possible weather conditions and a misreading of labor law, I am able to freely and honestly review my experience. Overall, it was a poor one, made worse by your reply. Nothing you've said should change people's mind regarding this simple statement - if you need to move out of a home in one day, especially in the heat, you may not be able to count on Brewers. With that said, I generally wish you the best and I'm happy so many other people had better experiences that I did. read more

I have never used professional movers before. I usually have friends, family, and my own back to thank for the hard work. This time, due to personal setbacks and health issues, I ended up needing help with both packing and moving. After requesting information from four local moving companies through the Yelp app, I went with Brewer because the owner contacted me quickly, was very understanding of my situation, and gave me a decent estimate for about five hours worth of work. One mover did not contact me at all, one said he would but didn't, and the other was higher priced with less information about how the breakdown was determined. I felt that Brewer understood the job and made fair decisions in the math. The two men who came to my house were careful with my items, treated me respectfully, and worked more quickly than I had expected. When their own supplies were used, I was charged cost rather than the higher price some movers charge. There was a minor delay in the job start due to a misrepresented move earlier in the day, but everything else went smoothly. I would definitely use this company for another move. read more

Mr. Brewer convinced me to use his service due to his excellent reviews. This was the worst move I ever experienced. They lost parts to my freezer and dented the stainless steel doors and I also have a broken dinning table chair that I did not discover until later. He paid me the insurance of .60 on the pound $180.00 to fix the freezer. My service technician bill was $400, I still have dents in my doors that he said he could do nothing about. Despite having another job in the afternoon, they came over around 4pm and finished unloading a 26' truck in to a two story house. Well....we still have NEVER FOUND MY MOTHERS ANTIQUE DOLLI am very sad‼ It has been 8 months! It may have even fallen out of the box and gotten broken because the tape was loose on the box when we first found it and who ever broke it just threw away all the porcelain glass so we wouldn't know....... how SAD. As far as Brewers goes they made a lot of promises about taking care of our things and packing them well that were NOT TRUE! We are still finding broken things and another one of the mirrors I got from my mother had 2 of the corners of glass broken on it and now it is WORTHLESS the way it looks. I have moved many times around Modesto and out of town and used another local mover "McGrath Moving Company" which has a perfect 5.0 score from customers and they are great, MCGrath Moving Company has never broken or damaged a thing in all the years they have moved me..... Fast, flexible, and professional. Moves are not fun. These guys make it bearable. They load, they drive, they unload. They handle pianos and other heavy stuff, and they make sure they have a large enough crew to do it safely. I'd add that the owner is interested in giving you a fair deal. I originally contacted Brewer through a U-haul's Moving Help service to just move a few very heavy items. Horrible customer service. My disabled sister was working with this company to get a price quote and to set up her move out date. She was told by the owner that it would be no problem and to just email all of the information to get the quote. Yet once the information was sent there was no response on his part with a quote. Nor did he want to speak with her over the phone on numerous occasions to verify the quote was being sent and if the move was officially set up. She believed everything was set due to the fact that he said "no problem your quote will be sent soon" but she felt something was fishy given the fact he hadn't responded in a week. This is not a way to do business. I am baffled that he has such great reviews because our experience was nothing of the sort. Given it is a holiday weekend and the end of the month makes it harder to get her moved. Along with the fact she is disabled (in a wheelchair) and cannot move any of her items herself. It would have been nice to have gotten a call or email stating he could not accommodate her move so that she wouldn't be frantically looking for a new company to help. If you use this guy make sure you have proof he's coming. Only gave these guys one star because I had to rate it. read more
